We review the recent progress of electrically injected and optically pumped mid-IR lasers based on antimonide quantum wells with the type II W configuration. W quantum-well diodes have achieved cw operation up to 195 K at lambda = 3.25 mum. Optically pumped devices that employ the diamond pressure bond heat sink have reached 290 K at 3 mum and 210 K at 6 mum. Pulsed power conversion efficiencies of up to 7% at 220 K have been attained by use of an optical pumping injection cavity approach, in which an etalon cavity for the pump beam significantly enhances its absorptance. The angled-grating distributed-feedback configuration has been used to obtain near-diffraction-limited output for an optical pumping stripe width of 50 mum.  相似文献

The Capacitated Arc Routing Problem (CARP) stands among the hardest combinatorial problems to solve or to find high quality solutions. This becomes even more true when dealing with large instances. This paper investigates methods to improve on lower and upper bounds of instances on graphs with over 200 vertices and 300 edges, dimensions that, today, can be considered of large scale. On the lower bound side, we propose to explore the speed of a dual ascent heuristic to generate capacity cuts. These cuts are next improved with a new exact separation enchained to the linear program resolution that follows the dual heuristic. On the upper bound, we implement a modified Iterated Local Search procedure to Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem (CVRP) instances obtained by applying a transformation from the CARP original instances. Computational experiments were carried out on the set of large instances generated by Brandão and Eglese and also on the regular size sets. The experiments on the latter allow for evaluating the quality of the proposed solution approaches, while those on the former present improved lower and upper bounds for all instances of the corresponding set.  相似文献

Trajectory planning and tracking are crucial tasks in any application using robot manipulators. These tasks become particularly challenging when obstacles are present in the manipulator workspace. In this paper a n-joint planar robot manipulator is considered and it is assumed that obstacles located in its workspace can be approximated in a conservative way with circles. The goal is to represent the obstacles in the robot configuration space. The representation allows to obtain an efficient and accurate trajectory planning and tracking. A simple but effective path planning strategy is proposed in the paper. Since path planning depends on tracking accuracy, in this paper an adequate tracking accuracy is guaranteed by means of a suitably designed Second Order Sliding Mode Controller (SOSMC). The proposed approach guarantees a collision-free motion of the manipulator in its workspace in spite of the presence of obstacles, as confirmed by experimental results.  相似文献

Catheter‐related bacteremia (CRB) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality especially among patients receiving hemodialysis. Antibiotic lock therapy represents a promising technique in the treatment of CRB. Several studies have evaluated antibiotics in combination with heparin as an interdialytic locking solution for prophylaxis of CRB. The objective of this study was to evaluate the stability of gentamicin and sodium citrate in hemodialysis catheters as an interdialytic lock. Solutions containing gentamicin 2.5 mg/mL and sodium citrate 40 mg/mL (4%) were prepared individually and in combination. The solutions were instilled into dialysis catheters and stored at 37 °C for 96 h. Samples were withdrawn randomly from catheter lumens at 24‐hour intervals for 4 days and stored at ?20 °C until analysis. The samples were analyzed with validated, stability‐indicating HPLC assays. The luminal concentration of gentamicin 2.5 mg/mL, sodium citrate 40 mg/mL (4%), and the combination was determined on study days 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4. When gentamicin was combined with sodium citrate and stored at 37 °C in dialysis catheters, the solution showed no decrease in either the gentamicin or the sodium citrate concentrations over the 96‐hour study period. The percent of the original concentration at 96 h was 102.4±1.03 for gentamicin and 102.9±1.25 for citrate (P=0.5556). The combination of gentamicin 2.5 mg/mL and sodium citrate 40 mg/mL (4%) can be retained in hemodialysis catheters for at least 96 h at 37 °C with no evidence of degradation.  相似文献

Feature and conjunction searches have been argued to delineate parallel and serial operations in visual processing. The authors evaluated this claim by examining the temporal dynamics of the detection of features and conjunctions. The 1st experiment used a reaction time (RT) task to replicate standard mean RT patterns and to examine the shapes of the RT distributions. The 2nd experiment used the response-signal speed-accuracy trade-off (SAT) procedure to measure discrimination (asymptotic detection accuracy) and detection speed (processing dynamics). Set size affected discrimination in both feature and conjunction searches but affected detection speed only in the latter. Fits of models to the SAT data that included a serial component overpredicted the magnitude of the observed dynamics differences. The authors concluded that both features and conjunctions are detected in parallel. Implications for the role of attention in visual processing are discussed. A better understanding of how macromolecules act in the precipitation of inorganic phases is the key to designing biomimetic routes for producing self-organized materials with remarkable properties. The role of small amounts of biopolymers (ppm) in the precipitation of calcium phosphate was studied: chitosan and alginate were chosen to be explored in our group studies since they are polysaccharides that present, respectively, amino and carboxyl groups, the most common functions in biopolymers. The effect of chitosan was found to be more intense than that of alginate in terms of influence (compared to blank samples) and also in orientation of the inorganic phase that was obtained. These results may indicate that polymers have interactions, but just enough to conduct ions for molecular recognition and correct epitaxy to orient crystals. Strong interactions would lead to the binding of the species, making them unavailable for further oriented growth.  相似文献
