We studied lipids, apolipoprotein-E (apo-epsilon) genotypes and other coronary artery disease (CAD) risk factors of 67 CAD patients (male/female ratio 5) in Cura?ao. Compared with 57 controls, male CAD patients had higher cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL-cholesterol, apo-B and decreased HDL-cholesterol and HDL-cholesterol/cholesterol concentrations. Other CAD risk factors were: increased fasting glucose and HbA1c concentrations, decreased creatinine clearance, and increased prevalences of lipoprotein (a) concentration > 500 mg/l, renal disease, hyperhomocysteinaemia, diabetes mellitus type II (DM-II), positive CAD family history and cigarette smoking. Male CAD patients had higher plasma alpha-tocopheroleq. Compared with 29 female controls, female CAD patients had higher fasting plasma glucose and HbA1c concentrations, and prevalence of DM-II. Predicting factors for CAD development in the whole CAD group were: DM-II, cigarette smoking, apo-epsilon 3/epsilon 4 and apo-epsilon 4/epsilon 4 Apo-epsilon 4 was associated with lower HDL- and higher LDL-cholesterol concentrations. There is a need for local studies on improvement of diabetic control, reference values of lipoprotein (a) and homocysteine concentrations, on apolipoprotein (a) phenotypes, causes of hyperhomocysteinaemia, and dietary influences on CAD development in subjects who carry the apo-epsilon 4 allele. 相似文献
Since powerful editing software is easily accessible, manipulation on images is expedient and easy without leaving any noticeable evidences. Hence, it turns out to be a challenging chore to authenticate the genuineness of images as it is impossible for human’s naked eye to distinguish between the tampered image and actual image. Among the most common methods extensively used to copy and paste regions within the same image in tampering image is the copy-move method. Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) has the ability to detect tampered regions accurately. Nevertheless, in terms of precision (FP) and recall (FN), the block size of overlapping block influenced the performance. In this paper, the researchers implemented the copy-move image forgery detection using DCT coefficient. Firstly, by using the standard image conversion technique, RGB image is transformed into grayscale image. Consequently, grayscale image is segregated into overlying blocks of m × m pixels, m = 4.8. 2D DCT coefficients are calculated and reposition into a feature vector using zig-zag scanning in every block. Eventually, lexicographic sort is used to sort the feature vectors. Finally, the duplicated block is located by the Euclidean Distance. In order to gauge the performance of the copy-move detection techniques with various block sizes with respect to accuracy and storage, threshold D_similar = 0.1 and distance threshold (N)_d = 100 are used to implement the 10 input images in order. Consequently, 4 × 4 overlying block size had high false positive thus decreased the accuracy of forged detection in terms of accuracy. However, 8 × 8 overlying block accomplished more accurately for forged detection in terms of precision and recall as compared to 4 × 4 overlying block. In a nutshell, the result of the accuracy performance of different overlying block size are influenced by the diverse size of forged area, distance between two forged areas and threshold value used for the research.
In this paper, we solve a discrete bilevel problem with multiple objectives at the lower level and constraints at the upper level coupling variables of both levels. In the case of a multiobjective lower level, we deal with a set of Pareto‐efficient solutions rather than a single optimal lower level solution. To calculate the upper level objective function value, we need to select one solution out of a potentially large set of efficient lower level solutions. To avoid the enumeration of the whole set of Pareto solutions, we formulate an auxiliary mixed integer linear programming problem with a large number of constraints. We propose an iterative exact method to solve it. To find a near‐optimal upper level solution, we apply a metaheuristic. The method is tested on the discrete ()‐centroid problem with multiple objectives at the lower level. 相似文献
Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are toxic to various microbes, but the mechanism of action is not fully understood. The present report explores Azadirachta indica leaf extract as a reducing agent for the rapid biosynthesis of AgNPs. The effects of AgNPs on the growth, glutathione‐S‐transferase (GST) activity, and total protein concentration in Staphylococcus aureus were investigated, as was its antibacterial activity against seven other bacterial strains. Nanoparticle synthesis was confirmed by the UV‐Vis spectrum and colour change of the solution. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), dynamic light scattering (DLS), zeta potential analysis, and infrared spectroscopy were used to characterise the synthesised nanoparticles. The UV‐Visible spectrograph showed an absorbance peak at 420 nm. DLS analysis showed an average AgNP size of 159 nm and a Polydispersity Index of 0.373. SEM analysis showed spherical particle shapes, while TEM established an average AgNP size of 7.5 nm. The element analysis profile showed small peaks for calcium, potassium, zinc, chlorine, with the presence of oxygen and silver. AgNPs markedly affected the growth curves and GST activity in treated bacteria, and produced moderate antibacterial activity. Thus AgNPs synthesised from A. indica leaves can interrupt the growth curve and total protein concentration in bacterial cells.Inspec keywords: ultraviolet spectra, microorganisms, nanomedicine, visible spectra, nanoparticles, electrokinetic effects, antibacterial activity, scanning electron microscopy, infrared spectra, transmission electron microscopy, light scattering, nanofabrication, particle size, silver, enzymes, biochemistry, molecular biophysics, cellular biophysicsOther keywords: silver nanoparticles, glutathione‐S‐transferase activity, green leaves, rapid biosynthesis, total protein concentration, nanoparticle synthesis, colour change, zeta potential analysis, UV‐Visible spectrograph, DLS analysis, SEM analysis, element analysis profile, growth curve, GST activity, bacterial strains, antibacterial activity, staphylococcus aureus growth, microbes, Azadirachta azadirachta indica leaf, reducing agent, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, dynamic light scattering, infrared spectroscopy, absorbance peak, polydispersity index, spherical particle shapes, TEM, bacterial cells, Ag相似文献
Gum karaya is a polysaccharide gum from Sterculia urens tree. It is used as an emulsifier and thickening agent in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. However, it has very strong swelling properties, high viscosity, and low solubility, providing the restricted applications in the food industry. The main objective of this study was to investigate the effects of different heat treatment and microwave variables (i.e., time: 8, 10, and 12 min; power: 700 and 1000 W) on the functional properties of gum karaya in the aqueous system and oil-in-water emulsion. In this regard, the rheological properties, emulsifying activity, average droplet size, and surface morphology of the native- and microwave-treated gums were analyzed and compared. Dynamic oscillatory test indicated that the microwave-treated gum karaya had more gel-like behavior than viscous-like behavior (G′ > G″) at a relatively high concentration (20% or 20 g/100 g). When gum karaya was treated by microwave for 8–12 min, both elastic (G′) and viscous (G″) moduli were declined. The native- and microwave-treated gum karaya exhibited a shear-thinning (pseudoplastic) behavior in the aqueous system and oil-in-water emulsion. The results showed that the microwave-treated gum karaya had smaller particles than the native gum in the aqueous system. On the other hand, the emulsion containing the microwave-treated gum karaya had finer emulsion droplets than the control containing the native gum karaya. This confirmed that the application of microwave treatment led to significantly (p < 0.05) improve the emulsifying activity of gum karaya. 相似文献
Pistachio nut (Pistacia vera L.) is one of the most delicious and nutritious nuts in the world. In this study, monoglycerides (0.0–1.5 %) as lipophilic emulsifiers were used to prevent oil separation in pistachio spread A (containing 50.0 % pistachio paste, 30.0 % icing sugar and 20.0 % red palm oil) and B (containing 58.3 % pistachio paste, 25.0 % icing sugar and 16.7 % red palm oil). Changes in rheological behavior of pistachio spreads were investigated. The highest work of shear (which indicates spreadability) was observed in Formulations A and B containing 1.5 % monoglycerides. Addition of emulsifier significantly (P < 0.05) influenced the consistency index (K), thixotropic area (A), yield stress (τ0) and coefficient correlation (R) of pistachio spreads. All the pistachio spreads that contained emulsifier exhibited a higher storage modulus (G′) than the loss modulus (G″). 相似文献
Although blending polyunsaturated oil with more saturated or monounsaturated oils has been studied extensively, there is no
similar information regarding the partial replacement of palm olein with olive oil (OO). Therefore the main objective of this
study was to investigate the effects of OO partial replacement (0, 25, 50, 75, 90 and 100% w/w) on the chemical stability
of palm olein oil (POO). The physicochemical properties of oil samples namely iodine value, peroxide value (PV), anisidine
value, TOTOX value (total oxidation value, TV), free fatty acid (FFA), cloud point, color and viscosity were considered as
response variables. Significant differences among the oil blend properties were determined at the significance level of P < 0.05. Apart from FFA, all the response variables were significantly influenced by type and concentration of oils. The oil
blend containing 10% POO and 90% OO showed the highest TV (6.10); whereas the blend containing 90% POO and 10% OO exhibited
the least TV (2.41). This study indicated that the chemical stability of oil blend significantly (P < 0.05) increased with increasing the proportion of polyunsaturated/monounsaturated fatty acid. 相似文献
Titanium dioxide (TiO2) powder mixed individually with 10 and 30 weight percentage (wt%) ZnO was thermally sprayed onto a grade B API 5 L carbon steel substrate by atmospheric plasma spraying. The effect of the addition of ZnO (10 wt% and 30 wt%) on the microstructures and wettability properties of the TiO2/ZnO coatings was investigated. The characterization of the coatings was carried out using scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), laser confocal microscope, and sessile droplet system. The XRD analysis of the coating revealed that the anatase phase of TiO2 in the powder state transformed into rutile phases for the produced TiO2/ZnO coatings. Surface microstructure analysis revealed that the coatings had typical micro-roughened surfaces of plasma spraying products. The coating with 30 wt% ZnO produced a coating with remarkable pores and microcracks compared with the TiO2 coating and coating with 10 wt% ZnO. Additionally, the increase in the wt% of ZnO increased the surface roughness value of the produced coatings and substantially changed the wettability properties of the TiO2 coating from hydrophilic to hydrophobic. 相似文献
Oil palm empty fruit bunch fiber and polylactic acid were used to produce composites by melting cast method. Fiber loading was considered up to 40 wt%. Oil palm empty fruit bunch fibers were treated using ultrasound and polydimethylsiloxane to improve the interfacial adhesion. The structure and surface properties of the fibers were analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and contact angle measurement. Moreover, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, tensile, flexural, X-ray diffraction, contact angle, differential scanning calorimetry, and thermogravimetric analysis were used to investigate composites’ properties. The analysis revealed that polydimethylsiloxane treatment composites show reduced wettability with increased crystallinity. 相似文献
