Axisymmetric problem for a spherical crack on the interface of elastic media

A problem concerning a spherical interfacial crack is solved by the eigenfunction method. The problem is reduced to a coupled system of dual-series equations in terms of Legendre functions and then to a system of singular integral equations for two unknown functions. The behaviour of the solution near the edge of the spherical crack, and the stress-intensity factors and crack-opening displacements are studied. The case when the crack surfaces are under normal internal pressure of constant intensity is examined.     

Numerical modeling of an optimal heat accumulator with phase change

The paper provides a procedure for and the results of the mathematical modeling of an optimum heat accumulator with phase change which operates with periodic recharging from a solar energy concentrator. Two-dimensional modeling of filtration combustion in porous charges in a one-temperature approximation

Filtration combustion with a stationary front in porous charges is modeled within the framework of a one-temperature approximation. The results of numerical calculations are compared with an analytical evaluation for the quasi-one-dimensional case of a tube of variable cross section. Nonlinear vibrations of hydraulic shock absorbers

A method of equivalent linearization for a nonlinear dynamic system of vibrations with a hydraulically elastic shock absorber is presented. An integral estimation of the exact and approximate solutions is obtained. It is shown that with an appropriate choice of the parameter λ the linearized dynamic system differs insignificantly from the nonlinear one. The influence of nonlinear factors on the coefficients of the dynamic rigidity and transmission has been established. These results agree well with the experimental curves published in the foreign scientific literature. Free-convective and radiative heat transfer on a vertical plane surface

Calculations are carried out to determine the influence of radiation on the free-convective heat transfer of a vertical surface situated in a nonabsorbing medium.
