The Hypnaceae is one of the largest and diversified family among the pleurocarpous mosses which consists of nearly 60 genera and 1,000 species around the world. In Pakistan, it is represented by 15 species and 8 genera. The current research article provides the detail morphological investigation of four different species (genera) of the family Hypnaceae that is, Gollania clarescens, Hypnum revolutum, Homomallium andoi, and Taxiphyllum taxirameum in the Western Himalayas, Pakistan. The research article reports the first SEM study of the leaf surfaces of the studied taxa, along with comprehensive morphological characters of the four species. The main objective of the research project is to present the comparative light and scanning electron microscopic study to discuss the morphology in detail because previously the family is just reported in different bryophyte checklists of the Western Himalayas. Based on results, morphological characters, micromorphological observations, qualitative and quantitative attributes, taxonomic keys for the studied taxa, distribution, and habitat are described. Stereoscope was used to analyze different qualitative characters, and light microscope was used to observe and measure the laminal and alar cells of the leaf. The SEM study reveals many important surface features like cell shape and cell wall. The laminal cells were mostly linear and elongated with thin cell walls. The specimens used for the SEM were air dried, so the laminal cells were somewhat constricted and concaved. The current study project will help to make the contribution in the taxonomy and morphology of this family.  相似文献

The interaction of a food colourant, quinoline yellow (Qy), and bovine serum albumin (BSA) was investigated by spectrophotometry, spectrofluorometry, FT-IR and circular dichroism (CD) techniques. The experimental results indicated that the quenching mechanism of BSA by the dye was a static procedure. Various binding parameters were evaluated. The negative value of ΔH, negative value of ΔS and the negative value of ΔG indicated that van der Waals force and hydrogen bonding play major roles in the binding of Qy and BSA. Based on Forster's theory of non-radiation energy transfer, the binding distance, r, between the donor (BSA) and acceptor (Qy) was evaluated. The results of CD and UV-vis spectroscopy showed that this dye could bind to BSA and the conformation of BSA changed.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate the proteolytic activities of 14 strains of lactic acid bacteria and their impact on sensory characteristics of the resultant fermented cow and camel milk. The results showed that Lactobacillus rhamnosus PTCC 1637 and Lactobacillus fermentum PTCC 1638 had high protease activity and high mean values for sensory quality in fermented cow's and camel's milk. Lactobacillus plantarum PTCC 1058 revealed high protease activity and sensory scores in camel milk. Consequently, milk fermentation using such strains might be recommended for the development of dairy products containing bioactive peptides.  相似文献

The direct imaging of individual atoms within the cellular context holds great potential for understanding the fundamental physical and chemical processes in organisms. Here, a novel approach for imaging of electrically insulated biological cells by introducing a graphene encapsulation approach to “disguise” the low‐conductivity barrier is reported. Upon successful coating using a water‐membrane‐based protocol, the electrical properties of the graphene enable voltage pulsing field evaporation for atom probe tomography (APT). Low conductive specimens prepared from both Au nanoparticles and antibiotic‐resistant bacterial cells have been tested. For the first time, a significant graphene‐enhanced APT mass resolving power is also observed confirming the improved compositional accuracy of the 3D data. The introduction of 2D materials encapsulation lays the foundation for a breakthrough direction in specimen preparation from nanomembrane and nanoscale biological architectures for subsequent 3D near‐atomic characterization.  相似文献

This study presents findings of indoor environmental quality (IEQ) investigations conducted in elementary schools׳ classrooms in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Average TVOC, CO2, O3, CO, and particle concentrations measured in the classrooms were 815 µg/m3, 1605 ppm, 0.05 ppm, 1.16 ppm, and 1730 µg/m3, respectively. Whereas, local authority known as Dubai Municipality recommended 300 µg/m3, 800 ppm, 0.06 ppm, 9 ppm, and 150–300 µg/m3 for TVOC, CO2, O3, CO, and particle, respectively. Dubai Municipality recommended temperature and relative humidity (RH) levels of 22.5 °C to 25.5 °C and 30%–60%, respectively. Average temperature and RH levels measured in the classrooms were 24.5 °C and 40.4%, respectively. Average sound level in the classrooms was 24 dB greater than recommended sound level limit of 35 dB. Six (6) classrooms had average lux levels in the range of 400–800 lux. Two (2) classrooms had average lux levels in the range of 100–200 lux. The remaining classrooms had lux levels around the recommended 300 lux. High occupancy density was observed in majority of the studied classrooms. Observations during walkthrough investigations could be used to explain measured IEQ data. Poor IEQ conditions in the studied classrooms highlight the need for further research investigation to understand how poor classrooms׳ IEQ condition could influence students׳ health, comfort, attendance rate, and academic performance.  相似文献

We studied fracture-controlled geothermal fields in the Hreppar Rift-Jump Block (HRJB), a micro-plate bounded by two NNE rifts and the E–W transform zone of the South Iceland Seismic Zone (SISZ). Distinguishing whether the extensional rift swarm or the transform zone shear fractures host the geothermal activity is challenging. GPS mapping of 208 springs and tectonic analysis indicate that six Riedel shear fracture sets of an older transform zone in the HRJB are permeable. Northerly dextral strike-slip faults are the principal permeable faults, although the highest discharge and temperature are found at their intersections with other fracture sets. Two northerly faults from the HRJB connect to the source faults of the major 1784 and 1896 earthquakes within the active SISZ. The 1784 earthquake caused pressure changes as far north as the studied springs, indicating that earthquakes keep faults permeable over hundreds of years.  相似文献

Flower-like ZnO nanostructures were prepared via microwave assisted heating in the presence and absence of ionic liquid (IL). X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy SEM and room temperature photoluminescence (PL) spectra have been employed for characterization of the products. The SEM image illustrates the surface of flower-like ZnO prepared in the presence of IL is not smooth and consists of nanoparticles with grain size of about 48 nm. PL spectra of flower-like ZnO in absence and presence IL reveal similar photoluminescence features: a strong UV, weak blue and green-yellow emissions peak at a bout 393 nm, 448 nm and 583 nm respectively. The strong UV photoluminescence and the weak green emission indicate the good crystallization quality of the flower-like nanostructure. The results show that imidazolium-based IL can be used as template for achieving very high level control over the size and shape of nanostructures. The approach developed in this work can potentially be used as a viable method for making various other uniform nanostructures in the presence of IL. This method is simple, fast, low-cost and suitable for large-scale production of ZnO nanostructures.  相似文献

In this paper, amino acid functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (f-MWCNTs)/poly(amide-imide) (PAI) nanocomposites (NCs) were prepared by a solution mixing method. First, 4,4′-methylenebis(3-chloro-2,6-diethyl trimellitimidobenzene) reacted with 3,5-diamino-N-(4-hydroxyphenyl)benzamide in tetra-n-butylammonium bromide as a green medium and a safe methodology (toxic and volatile organic solvents were eliminated) to produce a nanostructured PAI in high yield. MWCNTs were chemically modified with S-valine using microwave irradiation in order to obtain a homogeneous dispersion of MWCNTs in the PAI matrix. The resulting NCs were also characterized by FT-IR, powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and thermogravimetric analysis. The TEM and FE-SEM images confirmed good dispersion of f-MWCNTs in the polymer matrix. The results of TGA analysis suggest that a good thermal stability occurs especially with low filler amounts (5 wt%) of f-MWCNT.  相似文献

In this article, a series of optically active poly(amide–imide)/zinc oxide nanocomposites (PAI/ZnO NCs) with different ZnO contents were prepared by ultrasonic technique. For better dispersion of nanoparticles (NPs) in the PAI matrix, their surface was modified with two different silane coupling agents. Then, the effects of two linkers on dispersity of NPs, thermal stability and UV–Visible spectra of resulting NCs were investigated. The morphological structures, thermal, and UV properties of the prepared NCs with two different coupling agents were studied by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron micrograph, field emission scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and UV–Visible analysis. These data demonstrated that the surface-modified ZnO NPs were homogeneously dispersed in the PAI matrix. However, in the case of KH570 the better dispersity is more pronounced.  相似文献
