We have developed an analytical method for terpene resins in chewing gum. The fraction including terpene resins was prepared by means of hexane extraction and two silica gel column chromatography treatments (hexane and ethyl acetate) from chewing gum. The terpene resin fraction was analyzed with LC/MS and IR. The terpene resins are mixtures of polymeric pinene and/or limonene, which have a monomer molecular weight of 136. The MS spectrum of the terpene resin peak on the LC/MS total ion chromatogram showed protonated molecular ion (M + H)+ peaks at intervals of m/z 136, characteristic of a complex mixture of polyterpenes. IR spectroscopy is a suitable technique to identify the terpene resin type, ie., pinene or limonene. When the method was applied to imported chewing gum sold in Japan, terpene resins were clearly detected. 相似文献

The gelation of myosin has a very important role in meat products. We have already shown that myosin in low ionic strength solution containing l ‐histidine forms a transparent gel after heating. To clarify the mechanism of this unique gelation, we investigated the changes in the nature of myosin subfragments during heating in solutions with low and high ionic strengths with and without l ‐histidine. The hydrophobicity of myosin and heavy meromyosin (HMM) in low ionic strength solution containing l ‐histidine was lower than in high ionic strength solution. The SH contents of myosin and HMM in low ionic strength solution containing l ‐histidine did not change during the heating process, whereas in high ionic strength solution they decreased slightly. The heat‐induced globular masses of HMM in low ionic strength solution containing l ‐histidine were smaller than those in high ionic strength solution. These findings suggested that the polymerization of HMM molecules by heating was suppressed in low ionic strength solution containing l ‐histidine, resulting in formation of the unique gel. 相似文献

A promoter that augments gene expression in response to stimulation of ionizing radiation would be a desired tool for radiogenetic therapy, a combination of radiotherapy and gene therapy. Although various promoters occurring naturally or artificially have been used for researches, one showing higher reactivity to ionizing radiation is desirable. In the present study, we attempted to improve a radiation-responsive promoter of the p21 through a technique called DNA shuffling. A library of DNA fragments was constructed by re-ligation of randomly digested promoter fragments and improved promoters were chosen out of the library. We repeated this process twice to obtain a promoter showing 2.6-fold better reactivity to ionizing radiation compared with its parent, p21 promoter after 10 Gy γ-ray irradiation. Nucleotide sequence analyses revealed that the obtained promoter was densely packed with some of the cis-acting elements including binding sites for p53, NF-κB, NRF-2, AP-1 and NF-Y more than p21 promoter. In addition, it was shown that its induction by ionizing radiation was dependent upon p53 status of a cell line, suggesting that the promoter retained properties of the p21 promoter. The effective thermal conductivity of a metal hydride packed bed was calculated by considering the influence of expansion during hydrogen absorption and contraction during hydrogen desorption. The porosity was calculated using an experimental formula developed by direct observation, which was used in combination with other referenced methods. However, none of the methods could express the reported experimental value response to pressure change using only the experimental porosity formula. The area contact model was modified so that the porosity and the contact area changed with expansion and contraction. The contact area change was calculated by assuming a simple geometrical deformation caused the difference between the particle expansion and the packed bed expansion. The calculation results of the improved area contact model with the deformed factor and the shape factor were in good agreement with the reported experimental data. This calculation method of the effective thermal conductivity with the influence of expansion and contraction is expected to be useful for designing of heat transfer enhancement of a hydrogen storage tank. 相似文献

We investigated the possibility of conjugative plasmid transfer to the predominant bacteria in activated sludge and the factors influencing the transfer frequency in the activated sludge process. We performed conjugative transfers of a self-transmissible, broad-host-range plasmid RP4 from Escherichia coli C600 to activated sludge bacteria by broth mating. Most of the activated sludge bacteria tested could acquire plasmid RP4, although the transfer frequencies varied from 8.8 x 10(-7) to 1.3 x 10(-2) transconjugants per recipient. The transfer frequencies in several strains were similar to, or higher than, that in intraspecific transfer to E. coli HB101. Matings under various environmental conditions showed that factors relevant to physiological activity, such as temperature and nutrient conditions, seemed to affect the transfer frequency. In addition, conjugative transfer was detected even in filtered raw and treated wastewaters. Thus, the predominant activated sludge bacteria seem to have sufficient potential as recipients in conjugative plasmid transfer under the conditions likely to occur in the activated sludge process. Transfer frequency was reduced by agitation in the presence of suspended solid. This may suggest that conjugative plasmid transfer is physically inhibited in aeration tanks. 相似文献

Problem of high energy use for heating in Slovenian buildings is analyzed with exergy and energy analysis. Results of both are compared and discussed. Three cases of exterior building walls are located in three climatic zones in winter conditions. Results of energy analyses show that the highest heating energy demand appears in the case with less thermal insulation, especially in colder climate. If the comparison is made only on the energy supply and exergy supply, the results of exergy analysis are the same as those of energy analysis. The main difference appears, if the whole chain of supply and demand is taken into consideration. Exergy calculations enable us to analyze how much exergy is consumed in which part, from boiler to building envelope. They also reveal how much energy is supplied for the purpose of heating. Results show that insulation has much bigger effect than effect of boiler efficiency. However, the most effective solution is to improve building envelope together with boiler efficiency. Better thermal insulation also makes an important contribution to the improvement of thermal comfort conditions. It causes higher surface temperatures resulting in a larger warm radiant exergy emission rate and consequently better thermal comfort. 相似文献

In a stirred‐tank reactor (STR), a comparison of the performance of mechanical foam‐breakers: a six‐blade turbine (F‐B), a six‐blade vaned disk (V‐D), a two‐blade paddle (T‐P), a conical rotor (C‐R), a fluid‐impact dispersion apparatus (FIDA) and a rotating disk mechanical foam‐breaker (MFRD) was carried out using defined foaming media. The foam‐breaking ranges (relative to the gas superficial velocity, Ug) of the T‐P, C‐R and FIDA were inferior to that of the F‐B, V‐D and MFRD. The power consumption, Pkc, for foam‐breaking in the MFRD was the lowest among the F‐B, V‐D and MFRD. Operation of the F‐B and V‐D in the STR caused a considerable amount of liquid droplets from the collapsed foam to be entrained with the exhaust air. © 2002 Society of Chemical Industry 相似文献

The electrical conductivity of high purity tin dioxide doped with antimony was studied at temperatures of 900 to 1200° C and partial pressures of oxygen between 10–8 and 1 atm. For specimens having a dopant concentration over 1 × 1019Sb cm–3, the electrical conductivity decreased slightly with temperature and independent of oxygen partial pressure. The electrical conductivity of specimens having a dopant concentration under 1 × 10–8Sb cm–3 increased with temperature and with decreasing partial pressure of oxygen. To understand formation and deterioration mechanisms of Ta/Ti ohmic contacts that were previously developed for p-GaN, the
electrical properties of the Ta/Ti contacts, which were deposited on undoped GaN substrates and subsequently annealed in vacuum
(where a slash (/) sign indicates the deposition sequence), were studied. The Ta/Ti contacts displayed good ohmic behavior
after annealing at a temperature of 800°C for 10 min in vacuum, although the undoped GaN substrates were used. However, deterioration
of the present ohmic contacts was observed during room-temperature storage. These contact properties were similar to those
observed in the Ta/Ti contacts prepared on p-GaN. Hall-effect measurements revealed that thin n-type conductive layers were
