The land holding sizes in developing countries has been declining under continuous population pressure and average holding size is less than 2 ha. Small holders’, however, were able to increase the land productivity and farm income by adopting the high yielding modern varieties of dominant food staples, supported by public sector investment for irrigation, but modern irrigation system and efficient modern technology has failed to meet the wide spread need for inexpensive, divisible system for small plots. The demand of the present scenario is to transform the technology-long viewed appropriate only for wealthier and large farm sizes—into a new form that’s hold greater promise and opportunity for small holders. This paper discusses about the irrigation problems faced by the small holders and describes few affordable irrigation techniques for row and plantation crops. This paper also describes a new irrigation technology developed by the authors that could be affordable by the small farmers and suitable for closely spaced crops which covers sizeable area on most of the small plots globally.  相似文献

A series of soft ferrites in the system Ni1 ? xTbxFe2O4 (0  x  0.2), was prepared by a standard ceramic technique. The influence of terbium content was investigated by means of X-ray diffraction, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the samples have a cubic spinel (single phase) structure for 0  x  0.08; for x > 0.08 a small peak of orthorhombic phase (TbFeO3) appears and becomes more conspicuous with increased terbium substitution. The lattice parameter changes in a non-linear way as a function of terbium content which may be attributed to differences in the ionic radii of the cations involved and the solubility limit of terbium ions. A gradual increase in the bulk density was observed with the increase of terbium concentration, from 5.13 g/cm3 to 5.69 g/cm3. FTIR absorption spectra of the Ni–Tb–Fe–O system were investigated in the wave number range 370–1500 cm? 1. Each spectrum exhibited two main absorption bands, thereby confirming the spinel structure.  相似文献

A novel direct torque and flux controlled interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drive using an adaptive backstepping technique is presented. Closed-loop regulation of the speed, torque and stator flux linkage is achieved by a non-linear controller. Using Lyapunov analysis, the stability of the controller is guaranteed. The reference voltage vectors are generated by a space vector modulation (SVM) unit, which replaces the switching table in the conventional direct torque control (DTC) scheme. While retaining its main advantages, the proposed backstepping controller features reduced torque and flux ripples as compared to the classical DTC. On the one hand, a comparison with the proportional-integral (PI) direct torque and flux control (DTFC) scheme shows that the proposed approach is superior. Experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method.  相似文献

The effects of applying a positive bias of 25 to 100 V on the optical, structural and photoluminescence (PL) properties of hydrogenated nanocrystalline silicon (nc-Si:H) films produced by layer-by-layer (LBL) deposition technique has been studied. Optical characterization of the films has been obtained from UV-VIS-NIR spectroscopy measurements. Structural characterization has been performed using X-ray diffraction, micro-Raman spectroscopy and field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM). PL spectroscopy technique has been used to investigate the PL properties of the films. In general, the films formed shows a mixed phase of silicon (Si) nanocrystallites embedded within an amorphous phase of the Si matrix. The crystalline volume fraction and grain size of the Si nanocrystallites have been shown to be strongly dependent on the applied bias voltage. High applied bias voltage enhances the growth rate of the films but reduces the refractive index and the optical energy gap of the films. Higher crystalline volume fraction of the films prepared at low bias voltages exhibits room temperature PL at around 1.8 eV (700 nm).  相似文献

There are three classes of interferons (type 1, 2, and 3) that can contribute to the development and maintenance of various autoimmune diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Each class of interferons promotes the generation of autoreactive B cells and SLE-associated autoantibodies by distinct signaling mechanisms. SLE patients treated with various type 1 interferon-blocking biologics have diverse outcomes, suggesting that additional environmental and genetic factors may dictate how these cytokines contribute to the development of autoreactive B cells and SLE. Understanding how each class of interferons controls B cell responses in SLE is necessary for developing optimized B cell- and interferon-targeted therapeutics. In this review, we will discuss how each class of interferons differentially promotes the loss of peripheral B cell tolerance and leads to the development of autoreactive B cells, autoantibodies, and SLE.  相似文献

New sets of equations have been constructed from the density‐pressure‐temperature and viscosity‐pressure‐temperature relationships to determine the rheology of synthetic lubricants at high pressure. A phase diagram was first plotted for the oils up to a pressure of 1.2 GPa and temperatures from 303 to 353 K using high‐pressure density experimental results and others. For the oils at temperatures of 313, 333, and 353 K, the high‐pressure viscosity experiment was done up to a viscosity of 104 Pa s and up to a pressure of 0.4 GPa. A relationship, based on free volume theory, between pressure and temperature with varying density and viscosity was proposed. It was found that the new equations from these relationships could predict the high‐pressure rheology more closely than those of previous researchers. Moreover, it was shown that the Ehrenfest equation or the gradient of the phase diagram is closely related to the expansion coefficient of free volume.  相似文献

A rigorous numerical model is presented for an electrooptic directional coupler (DC) modulator. It was observed that it is possible for such a device to be optimized by the variation of a number of fabrication parameters. The applied field, the induced refractive index changes, and hence the change in the waveguide optical field due to the antisymmetric refractive index change are calculated for an elected structure. Finally, the product of switching voltage and coupling length, the power transfer efficiency, obtained using the least squares boundary residual (LSBR) method, and the optical loss due to the metal electrodes are also given  相似文献

State transportation agencies recognize the need for contract documents that will ensure rational bids and minimize problems during construction of facilities. A significant aspect of developing high-quality contract documents is to incorporate constructibility reviews into project planning and design. Before state transportation agency management can address constructibility implementation, critical issues affecting implementation must be understood. A survey was conducted to capture specific constructibility issues from the perspective of agencies, design firms, and construction contractors. These issues are categorized into those relevant to project execution processes, project planning and technical design documents, and project resources. Analysis and interpretation of the issues within these three categories suggest eleven paradigm shifts that state transportation agency management must address to successfully implement a constructibility program.  相似文献

The concept of combining multiple experts in a unified framework to generate a combined decision based on individual decisions delivered by the cooperating experts has been exploited in solving the problem of handwritten and machine printed character recognition. The level of performance achieved in terms of the absolute recognition performance and increased confidences associated with these decisions is very encouraging. However, the underlying philosophy behind this success is still not completely understood. The authors analyse the problem of decision combination of multiple experts from a completely different perspective. It is demonstrated that the success or failure of the decision combination strategy largely depends on the extent to which the various possible sources of information are exploited in designing the decision combination framework. Seven different multiple expert decision combination strategies are evaluated in terms of this information management issue. It is demonstrated that it is possible to treat the comparative evaluation of the multiple expert decision combination approaches based on their capability for exploiting diverse information extracted from the various sources as a yardstick in estimating the level of performance that is achievable from these combined configurations  相似文献

Because of the metabolic and antibacterial actions of short-chain fatty acids (SCFA), their roles in modifying the clinicopathologic features of shigellosis were evaluated in a rabbit model of shigellosis. Acute colitis was induced in adult rabbits by intracolonic administration of Shigella flexneri 2a. After 24 h, rabbits were given 6-h colonic infusions of SCFA (acetate, propionate, n-butyrate; 60:30:40 mM) or SCFA-free solution (control); groups of rabbits were killed in batches of 2 or 3 animals at 24, 48, 72, and 96 h after treatment, for histologic and bacteriologic assessment. SCFA significantly reduced fecal blood and mucus and improved clinical symptoms. Histologically, SCFA significantly (P<.01) reduced mucosal congestion, cellular infiltration, and necrotic changes. SCFA also significantly (P<.05) reduced the number of shigellae in the colon. No such improvements occurred in the control group. SCFA may be useful agents in improving clinicopathologic features of shigellosis and should be clinically evaluated.  相似文献
