Deuterated scintillators (NE230) can provide, without time-of-flight, usable neutron energy spectra for neutrons E n⩾1 MeV. The authors have assembled and calibrated several of these detectors and used them in experiments searching for d+d fusion-neutron emission (E n, 2.5 MeV) in Pd+D 2O electrolysis and Ti+D2 adsorption at LN temperatures. The detectors yielded direct fusion-neutron spectra and set limits in the Pd+D and Ti+D experiments of <7×10-24 fusion n/s/dd pair and <3×10-24 fusion n/s/dd pair respectively. A deterministic particle method for the kinetic model of semiconductors: The homogeneous field model
We present a new particle method for the simulation of the semiconductor Boltzmann equation—the weighted particle method. This method differs from the Monte-Carlo method by the approximation of the collision operator—we allocate each particle a weight which varies in time according to the collision integral. This integral is evaluated by means of a quadrature formula, which does not require the use of random numbers. The aim of this paper is to show that this method gives accurate results on physically relevant problems. Linear as well as non-linear collision integrals can be handled the same way by this method. Precise representations of the distribution functions are available, which allow a good insight into the physical processes. In this paper, we only consider the homogeneous field model with an emphasis on the collision operator. Numerical results are presented with a comparison with the Monte-Carlo method. 相似文献

Even if it were true that SAR (synthetic aperture radar) ocean surface imagery provides a perfect noiseless representation of ocean surface wave height, each spectrum computed from such imagery would be but a single realization of the ensemble-mean ocean spectrum. There would be sampling variability associated with the parameters of dominant wave number and propagation direction extracted from such a spectrum. The present study addresses two questions: (i) what statistical distribution is applicable to the spectra of SAR ocean images? and (ii) what are the consequences of such statistics on the precision with which wave number and propagation direction can be extracted? A method has been developed for assay of deoxynivalenol (DON) and its metabolite desepoxideoxynivalenol (DOM-1) in animal excrements with the use of reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography with UV-detection (218 nm). The method includes purification in the mini-column with activated carbon and aluminium oxide. The detection limit was 50 ng/g, relative standard deviation--0.05-0.1, the degree of toxin isolation--76-89%. DON isolated from Fusarium macroceras, strain 579a, cultivated in rice under laboratory conditions, and DOM-1 obtained as a result of DON incubation with the contents of the beef first stomach, were used in the study. The structure of toxins isolated has been proved by the mass-spectrometry method. The method developed by the authors was used in the study of DON metabolism in vivo in monkeys. 相似文献

The catalyst behaviour of titanium silicalite, which was found the most active and selective catalyst for liquid-phase ammoximation of cyclohexanone to the corresponding oxime with hydrogen peroxide, was investigated in the gas-phase ammoximation with molecular oxygen in and compared with those of pure silicalite and samples of vanadium and chromium silicalites. The results showed that Ti-silicalite is a selective catalyst not only in the reaction with hydrogen peroxide but also in the reaction with molecular oxygen. This study examined neutrophil activation, after incubation of these cells with metal ions. Activation was examined using lysozyme and chemiluminescence assays. Cobalt ions (0.5–30 p.p.m.), chromium ions (0.5–20 p.p.m.), nickel ions (1–50 p.p.m.) and aluminium ions (0.05–7.5 p.p.m.) did not stimulate neutrophils to release lysozyme and did not stimulate a respiratory burst. Copper ions (0.25–7.5 p.p.m.) stimulated neutrophils to release lysozyme, a result which was significant at the 5% level. This was not as a result of copper ions causing neutrophils to lyse. Lysozyme secretion was inhibited when neutrophils were pre-incubated with cytochalasin B, although cytochalasin B had no effect on the enzyme secretion due to stimulation by opsonized zymosan and zymosan-activated serum. This suggests that the mechanism by which copper ions stimulate neutrophil degranulation is different from that of opsonized zymosan and zymosan-activated serum. Summary A set of flow equations are derived for the velocity components of the solid and liquid phases of a particle fluid mixture. The equations have a limited validity to the case of uniaxial flow accompanied by radial expansion.The Terzaghi fluidization criterion is used to fix an internal parameter in the equations. Using a stability analysis it is demonstrated that the process of the onset of fluidization is accompanied by a smoothing out of internal heterogeneity in the system.The applications treated are the permeability of a densely packed material and the settlement of a geotechnical filter. 相似文献
