Recent technological advances in commodity server architectures, with multiple multi-core CPUs, integrated memory controllers, high-speed interconnects, and enhanced network interface cards, provide substantial computational capacity, and thus an attractive platform for packet forwarding. However, to exploit this available capacity, we need a suitable software platform that allows effective parallel packet processing and resource management. In this paper, we at first introduce an improved forwarding architecture for software routers that enhances parallelism by exploiting hardware classification and multi-queue support, already available in recent commodity network interface cards. After evaluating the original scheduling algorithm of the widely-used Click modular router, we propose solutions for extending this scheduler for improved fairness, throughput, and more precise resource management. To illustrate the potential benefits of our proposal, we implement and evaluate a few key elements of our overall design. Finally, we discuss how our improved forwarding architecture and resource management might be applied in virtualized software routers.  相似文献

Air drying (AD), freeze-drying (FD), and vacuum-microwave drying (VMD) were applied to fresh North American ginseng roots to evaluate the effect of different drying techniques on pore characteristics and the subsequent recovery of ginsenoside content. FD ginseng root produced the lowest reductions in both total moisture content and water activity (P < 0.05), with no differences noted between Ontario or British Columbia ginseng. Ginseng roots from Ontario and British Columbia sources were therefore pooled to conduct the root porosity and ginsenoside measurements. Among samples, FD ginseng obtained the highest total porosity followed by VMD and AD, respectively (P < 0.05). All dehydrated samples had a porous structure with sizes that ranged from 0.002 μm to 172 μm, dominated by macropores (>1.5 μm). Pore characteristics of dried ginseng root were shown to affect recovery of ginsenosides, with the general trend being an increase in total porosity resulting in an increase in total ginsenoside recovered. High performance liquid chromatography results obtained on specific ginsenosides showed that AD of ginseng root resulted in the lowest recovery of total ginsenosides, most notably, Rg1 and Rb1, followed by VMD and FD, respectively. There was no specific difference in total ginsenoside recovery from roots dried at increasing power of VMD.  相似文献

Thickness dependency of the field emission of amorphous and nanostructured carbon thin films has been studied. It is found that in amorphous and carbon films with nanometer-sized sp2 clusters, the emission does not depend on the film thickness. This further proves that the emission happens from the surface sp2 sites due to large enhancement of electric field on these sites. However, in the case of carbon films with nanocrystals of preferred orientation, the emission strongly depends on the film thickness. sp2-bonded nanocrystals have higher aspect ratio in thicker films which in turn results in higher field enhancement and hence easier electron emission.  相似文献

This paper investigates the effect of air pressure on the current used by dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma actuators and the voltage limits for plasma production in these actuators. The purpose of this research was to determine whether DBD plasma actuators have potential for application as a pressure sensor at sub-atmospheric pressure conditions. It was found that these actuators were sensitive to air pressure and possessed a distinct, non-linear relationship between the electrical current consumed by them and ambient pressure. It was also found that lower and upper voltage limits for plasma production increased approximately linearly with pressure.  相似文献

A high-throughput metrology method for measuring the thickness and uniformity of entire large-area chemical vapor deposition-grown graphene sheets on arbitrary substrates is demonstrated. This method utilizes the quenching of fluorescence by graphene via resonant energy transfer to increase the visibility of graphene on a glass substrate. Fluorescence quenching is visualized by spin-coating a solution of polymer mixed with fluorescent dye onto the graphene then viewing the sample under a fluorescence microscope. A large-area fluorescence montage image of the dyed graphene sample is collected and processed to identify the graphene and indicate the graphene layer thickness throughout the entire graphene sample. Using this metrology method, the effect of different transfer techniques on the quality of the graphene sheet is studied. It is shown that small-area characterization is insufficient to truly evaluate the effect of the transfer technique on the graphene sample. The results indicate that introducing a drop of acetone or liquid poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) on top of the transfer PMMA layer before soaking the graphene sample in acetone improves the quality of the graphene dramatically over immediately soaking the graphene in acetone. This work introduces a new method for graphene quantification that can quickly and easily identify graphene layers in a large area on arbitrary substrates. This metrology technique is well suited for many industrial applications due to its repeatability and flexibility.  相似文献

von Willebrand factor (VWF) is a naturally collapsed protein that participates in primary haemostasis and coagulation events. The clotting process is triggered by the adsorption and conformational changes of the plasma VWFs localized to the collagen fibres found near the site of injury. We develop coarse-grained models to simulate the adsorption dynamics of VWF flowing near the adhesive collagen fibres at different shear rates and investigate the effect of factors such as interaction and cooperativity of VWFs on the success of adsorption events. The adsorption probability of a flowing VWF confined to the receptor field is enhanced when it encounters an adhered VWF in proximity to the collagen receptors. This enhancement is observed within a wide range of shear rates and is mostly controlled by the attractive van der Waals interactions rather than the hydrodynamic interactions among VWF monomers. The cooperativity between the VWFs acts as an effective mechanism for enhancing VWF adsorption to the collagen fibres. Additionally, this implies that the adsorption of such molecules is nonlinearly dependent on the density of flowing VWFs. These findings are important for studies of primary haemostasis as well as general adsorption dynamics processes in polymer physics.  相似文献

In the present study, a bioceramic-based composite was prepared by sintering compacts made up of mixtures of hydroxyapatite (HA) and sol–gel-derived bioactive glass (64SiO2-26CaO-5MgO-5ZnO) (based on mol%) powders. HA powder was mixed with different concentrations of the glass powders up to 30 wt.%. The effect of adding bioactive glass powder to HA matrix, on the mechanical properties of the composite was assessed by compression test. The specimen with the highest compressive strength was chosen to be immersed in simulated body fluid (SBF) to study apatite forming ability and dissolution behavior. It was found that compressive strength of the specimen was decreased 65% after maintaining in the SBF for 14 days. X-ray diffraction (XRD) showed prevalence of HA and β-TCP related peaks. Also, the surface morphology of the composite was observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The study of degradation behavior revealed Si release capability of this composite. Biological evaluations in vitro confirmed the composite studied could induce osteoblast-like cells' activities.  相似文献

An energy parameterized pseudo-lucky electron model for simulation of gate current in submicron MOSFET's is presented in this paper. The model uses hydrodynamic equations to describe more correctly the carrier energy dependence of the gate injection phenomenon. The proposed model is based on the exponential form of the conventional lucky electron gate current model. Unlike the conventional lucky electron model, which is based on the local electric fields in the device, the proposed model accounts for nonlocal effects resulting from the large variations in the electric field in submicron MOSFET's. This is achieved by formulating the lucky electron model in terms of an effective-electric field that is obtained by using the computed average carrier energy in the device and the energy versus field relation obtained from uniform-field Monte Carlo simulations. Li3BN2 is a known lithium ion conductor and has been predicted lately to be a high capacity cathode for Li-ion batteries (Németh, 2014) [4]. In this study, we have investigated the synthesis of Li3BN2 through reactions between Li3N and h-BN powders. Effects of the reaction temperature, holding time and reaction atmosphere on the formation of Li3BN2 have been evaluated. Rietveld refinement of X-ray diffraction patterns of all powders has been performed to quantify the percentage of each phase. The results show that both the reaction temperature and holding time affect strongly the percentage of Li3BN2 in the reaction product. Furthermore, a trace amount of oxygen in the reaction atmosphere can negatively impact the purity of the reaction product because of the high affinity of Li3BN2 towards oxidation.  相似文献
