Nowadays, so as to adapt to the global market, where competition is getting tougher, firms producing through the modern production approach need to bring not the only performance of the system designed both during the research and development phase and the production phase but also the performance of the product to be developed as well as the process to be improved to the highest level. The Taguchi method is an experimental design technique seeking to minimize the effect of uncontrollable factors, using orthogonal arrays. It can also be designed as a set of plans showing the way data are collected through experiments. Experiments are carried out using factors defined at different levels and a solution model generated in ARENA 3.0 program using SIMAN, which is a simulation language. Many experimental investigations reveal that the speed and capacity of automated-guided vehicle, the capacities of local depots, and the mean time between shipping from the main depot are the major influential parameters that affect the performance criteria of the storage system. For the evaluation of experiment results and effects of related factors, variance analysis and signal/noise ratio are used and the experiments are carried out in MINITAB15 according to Taguchi L16 scheme. The purpose of this study is to prove that experimental design is an utilizable method not only for product development and process improvement but it can also be used effectively in the design of material handling–transfer systems and performance optimization of automation technologies, which are to be integrated to the firms.  相似文献

In this study, measurements of the adsorption properties of sulfur dioxide on zeolites were investigated. The adsorbents used in this work are 5A, 4A and AW300 type molecular sieve zeolites. Adsorption equilibrium parameters were determined from the pulse chromatographic response to injections of low concentrations of sulfur dioxide. The method of moments were used to evaluate the adsorption equilibrium parameters from pulse chromatographic experiments. Data, such as adsorption equilibrium constants or reaction rate parameters are essential in the design of adsorption systems or reactors in which sulfur dioxide is removed

The experiments were conducted in a temperature range of 523-718 K. The relatively strong adsorption properties of sulfur dioxide on zeolites necessitated the use of high carrier gas flow rates and subsequently non-isobaric operation. Non-isobaric pulse chromatography theory was found to describe accurately the adsorption trends." printpubdate="Adsorption equilibrium constants of S02 were found to decrease considerably with increasing temperature. It was also found out that adsorption of SO2 on the adsorbents investigated were found to decrease in the order of AW300 ≤ 4A ≤ 5A. The adsorption equilibrium parameter of S02 on 5A was found as 11.78 at 673 K, whereas it has a value of 157.11 at 523 K. Assuring a high quality requirements specification document involves both an early validation process and an increased level of participation. An approach and its supporting environment which combines the benefits of a formal system specification and its subsequent execution via a rapid prototype is reported. The environment assists in the construction, clarification, validation and visualisation of a formal specification. An illustrative case study demonstrates the consequences of assertions about system properties at this early stage of software development. Our approach involves the pragmatic combination of technical benefits of formal systems engineering based techniques with the context‐sensitive notions of increased participation of both developer and user stakeholders to move us closer towards a quality requirements specification document.  相似文献

Product recovery involves the recovery of materials and components from returned or end-of-life products. Disassembly, an element of product recovery, is the systematic separation of an assembly into its components, subassemblies or other groupings. Stricter environmental regulations together with dramatic decrease in natural resources and landfills have increased the importance of disassembly as all product recovery options require some level of disassembly. Due to changes made during the lifetime of a product by customers or service personnel, the number and the version of components prior to disassembly is unknown. Customers may also discriminate between and demand different versions of components. The existence of non-functional components further adds to the uncertainty associated with disassembly yield. Sensors implanted into products during their production can address this uncertainty by providing information on the number, condition and version of components prior to disassembly. In this study, we evaluate the impact of sensor embedded products (SEPs) on the various performance measures of a washing machine (WM) disassembly line controlled by a multi-kanban system, which takes into consideration the highly stochastic behavior of the line while managing material and kanban flows. First, separate design of experiments studies based on orthogonal arrays are performed for conventional products and SEPs. In order to observe the response of each experiment, detailed discrete event simulation (DES) models for both types of products are developed considering the precedence relationships among the components of a WM. Then, pair-wise t-tests are conducted to compare the two cases based on different performance measures. According to the results, SEPs provide significant reductions in all costs (viz., backorder, holding, disassembly, disposal, testing and transportation) while increasing revenue and profit.  相似文献

The study of cellular responses to chemical gradients in vitro would greatly benefit from experimental systems that can generate precise and stable gradients comparable to chemical nonhomogeneities occurring in vivo. Recently, microfluidic devices have been demonstrated for linear gradient generation for biological applications with unmatched accuracy and stability. However, no systematic approach exists at this time for generating other gradients of target spatial configuration. Here we demonstrate experimentally and provide mathematical proof for a systematic approach to generating stable gradients of any profile by the controlled mixing of two starting solutions.  相似文献

In this study, leaching properties and pollution potential of chromium in chrome shaving (CS), which is a solid residue of leather industry, containing 2.27% Cr were investigated and thermal stabilization procedure was applied to the CS for chromium immobilization. For this purpose, firstly, effects of the liquid/solid ratio, contact time, pH and sequential extraction on the leaching behavior of chromium in the CS were studied. It was determined that the CS-caused chromium pollution is a hazardous material for environment. Thermal stabilization procedure was applied to the CS in the temperature range of 250-500 degrees C for the chromium immobilization. Effective stabilization of chromium in the CS was achieved by heating of CS at 350 degrees C under CO(2) atmosphere. Leaching experiments were also carried out with the samples obtained from the stabilization process and the results compared with that of the CS. Also, TCLP test method was applied to the samples to determine pollution potentials and discharge situations of the CS and its stabilization products. While the chromium concentrations in the test solutions of all samples stabilized thermally at above 350 degrees C were below the USEPA regulatory limit of 5 mg/l, the concentration of chromium leached out from the CS was 30-fold bigger than the USEPA regulatory limit.  相似文献

The removal of copper ions from aqueous solutions by kaolinite was investigated by using a batch-type method. Effects of factors such as pH, ionic strength, temperature, acid-activation and calcination on copper adsorption were investigated. The uptake of copper was determined from changes in concentration as measured by atomic absorption spectrometry. The extent of copper adsorption increased with increasing pH and temperature and with decreasing ionic strength, acid-activation and calcination temperature. The Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption models were used to determine the isotherm parameters associated with the adsorption process. The results provide support for the adsorption of copper ions onto kaolinite. Thermodynamic parameters indicated the endothermic nature of copper adsorption on kaolinite. The experimental results were applied a batch design. As a result, the kaolinite may be used for removal of copper ions from aqueous solutions.  相似文献

Abstract and Key Results
•  This study provides a comprehensive account of foreign establishment mode strategies of firms investing in Turkey. The results of the logistic regression modeling provide support to the hypothesized relationships that take into account the impact of host country specific motives of MNEs on their choice between acquisitions and greenfield investments.
•  The host country motives quality of inputs and market potential have significant negative coefficients, indicating that an MNE will favor the acquisition mode over a greenfield mode as the relative importance of both motives increases.
•  The host country motive of investment risk has a significant positive coefficient, which increases the likelihood of the venture being a greenfield investment.
•  Our results also show that the main investing firm specific and subsidiary level determinants of FDI modal choice identified in prior research also influence the establishment mode choice of Western MNEs when investing in Turkey. Parent diversity, previous commercial association, ownership pattern and resource-intensiveness of the target industry have the expected impact on the foreign investor’s choice between a greenfield investment and an acquisition.
•  No support is found, however, for the impact of cultural distance and foreign parent size on establishment mode choice. Similarly, the control variables of home region of the investing firm, timing of entry and industrial sector of investment do not affect modal choice.
