This paper presents a simulation model for evaluating the economic viability of a solar system for heating water in an apartment building. The system consists of solar collectors and a back-up oil burner. The model determines the optimal number of collectors needed and the optimal method for connecting the collectors—in series or in parallel.

The simulation results show that the solar system for heating water is more economical as the life span of the system increases, as the prices of oil increase, and as the demand for hot water increases. Furthermore, connecting the collectors in series is more economical than connecting them in parallel.  相似文献

To explore a new set of anticancer agents, a novel series of pyrazolo[4,3-e]pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidine derivativeshave been designed and synthesized viacyclocondensation reactions of pyrazolo-enaminone with a series of arylidenemalononitriles; compound 5 was obtained from 5-amino-4-cyanopyrazole. The structures of the target compounds were investigated by spectral techniques and elemental analysis (IR, UV–Vis, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and ESI-MS). All compounds were evaluated for their in vitro cytotoxicity employing a panel of different human tumor cell lines, A375, HT29, MCF7, A2780, FaDu as well as non-malignant NIH 3T3 and HEK293 cells. It has been found that the pyrazolo-pyrido-pyrimidine analog bearing a 4-Br-phenyl moiety was the most active toward many cell lines with EC50 values ranging between 9.1 and 13.5 µM. Moreover, in silico docking studies of the latter with six anticancer drug targets, i.e., DHFR, VEGFR2, HER-2/neu, hCA-IX, CDK6 and LOX5, were also performed, in order to gain some insights into their putative mode of binding interaction and to estimate the free binding energy of this bioactive molecule.  相似文献

Olive oil with rosemary leaves by microwave assisted infusion (MAI) as an alternative to conventional infusion (CI) was evaluated. Microwave heating was applied to the mixture in order to accelerate diffusion of the rosemary volatile compounds into the olive oil. The volatile components of the aromatized oils were quantified by HS‐SPME/GC–MS, as well as several quality indexes such as free fatty acids (FFA), peroxide value (PV), specific coefficients of extinction, chlorophyll and carotenoid content, and color assessment. Fatty acid profiles of the oils aromatized by MAI were compared to those produced by CI. Results showed that the infusion time is reduced from 12 h to 10 min when utilizing MAI in place of CI. MAI treatment caused a slight increase in FFA levels, and specific extinction coefficient indices (K232 and K270). PV during MAI remained unchanged for the first 3 min, after which there was an observable increase. All physico‐chemical values were found to be well below the maximum permitted limits. The MAI treatment reduced chlorophyll and carotenoid levels during the final step of aromatization, thus affecting final color. The MAI aromatized oil was characterized by its clear green color (L*, a*, b* parameters). Fatty acid analysis showed that MAI slightly changed the fatty acid composition of the olive oil. This study indicates that MAI appears to be a viable and rapid method to flavor olive oil with rosemary leaves.  相似文献

The drying of pomegranate seeds was investigated at 40 °C, 50 °C and 60 °C with air velocity of 2 m/s. Prior to drying, seeds were osmodehydrated in 55 °Brix sucrose solution for 20 min at 50 °C. The drying kinetics and the effects of osmotic dehydration (OD) and air-drying temperature on antioxidant capacity, total phenolics, colour and texture were determined. Analysis of variance revealed that OD and air-drying temperature have a significant influence on the quality of seeds. Both anthocyanin and total phenolic contents decreased when air-drying temperature increased. The radical diphenylpicril-hydrazyl activity showed the lowest antioxidant activity at 60 °C. Both chromatic parameters (L*, C* and h°) and browning index were affected by drying temperatures, which contributed to the discolouring of seeds. The final product has 22%, 20% and 16% of moisture; 0.630, 0.478 and 0.414 of a w; 151, 141 and 134 mg gallic acid equivalent/100 g fresh matter (FM) of total phenolics; 40, 24, 20 mg/100 g FM of anthocyanins and 46%, 39% and 31% of antioxidant activity, for drying temperatures of 40 °C, 50 °C and 60 °C, respectively. In view of these results, the temperature of 40 °C is recommended as it has the lowest impact on the quality parameters of the seeds. Differential scanning calorimetry data provided complementary information on the mobility changes of water during drying. Glass transition temperature (Tg′) depends on moisture content and as consequence, on drying conditions. In fact, Tg′ of seeds dried at 60 °C (Tg′ = −21 °C) was higher than those dried at 50 °C (Tg′ = −28 °C) or 40 °C (Tg′ = −31 °C) and osmodehydrated seeds (Tg′ = −34 °C). During OD and drying process, the texture of seeds changed. The thickness of seeds shrank by 55% at 60 °C.  相似文献

Cadmium removal from aqueous solution by polyelectrolyte enhanced ultrafiltration (PEUF) with relatively low transmembrane pressure was investigated at varying conditions of polyelectrolyte and cadmium concentrations, transmembrane pressure, ionic strength and pH. The poly(ammonium acrylate), with two average molecular weights (8000 and 15 000 Da) were used as polyelectrolyte. Flux declines during ultrafiltration of polyelectrolyte solutions. An effort has been made to evaluate these resistances independently at different operating conditions. The hydraulic membrane resistance is higher for processing solutions of PAmA8 than solutions of PAmA15. The study of ionic strength effect demonstrates that it decreases the retention of cadmium ions and increases the permeate flux. More than 99% of cadmium was retained for a NaNO3 feed concentration less than 5 × 10−2 mol L−1. The pH effect study on the cadmium recovery revealed a maximum retention around 98% for pH 4.  相似文献

The total fat content and the fatty acids profile were analysed in the dorsal and ventral muscles and in the liver from wild and farmed gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata). The amount of fish lipid was higher in farmed than in wild fish in all studied samples and the highest level of all was observed in liver. It was noted that, among all the samples studied for saturated fatty acids (SFA) and Monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA), whether farmed or wild, palmitic (C16:0) and oleic (C18:1 n − 9) acids were the principal saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids. The results showed that farmed fish contained a higher level of n − 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), particularly docosahexaenoic acids (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acids (EPA), whereas wild fish contained a higher level of n − 6 PUFA. Arachidonic acid (C20:4 n − 6) was the primary n − 6 PUFA in wild fish whereas in farmed fish, linoleic acid (C18:2 n − 6) was the major n − 6 PUFA. Farmed fish were characterized by higher n − 3/n − 6 ratio for all samples studied, due to the abundance of n − 3 PUFA, particularly DHA.  相似文献

This preliminary study is devoted to the application of front-face fluorescence spectroscopy to the study of egg yolks during storage. A total of 79 eggs stored for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, 12, 16, 18, 23, 25 and 29 days at room temperature were analysed. The fluorescence emission spectra of tryptophan residues (excitation: 290 nm; emission: 305–430 nm) of proteins and the excitation spectra of vitamin A (emission: 410 nm; excitation: 270–350 nm) were recorded directly on egg yolk samples. Factorial discriminant analysis (FDA) was used to classify the eggs according to their date after they were laid. Using tryptophan fluorescence spectra, correct classification was observed for 57.1 and 51.9% for the calibration and the validation sets, respectively. Better classification (94.9 and 91.4% of the calibration and validation samples, respectively) was obtained from the vitamin A fluorescence spectra. The first five principal components (PCs) of the principal component analysis (PCA) extracted from each data set (tryptophan and vitamin A fluorescence spectra) were pooled (concatenated) into a single-matrix and analysed by FDA. Correct classifications were obtained for 97.5% of the calibration and 96.3.1% of the validation spectra. The discrimination of the investigated egg yolks according to their storage time was excellent. It was concluded that the concatenation of different fluorescence spectra might be considered as a promising indicator of shell egg freshness when they are used in egg products.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The essential oil from Eucalyptus radiata leaves collected in Tunisia was extracted by steam distillation and analysed by gas chromatography/flame ionisation detection and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. Its antioxidant and antiradical properties were evaluated by the 1,1‐diphenyl‐2‐picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2′‐azinobis(3‐ethylbenzothiazoline‐6‐sulfonic acid) (ABTS) assays. The antimicrobial activity of the oil was examined in vitro against two plant‐pathogenic bacteria (four strains each of Agrobacterium tumefaciens and Pseudomonas savastanoi pv. savastanoi) and two plant‐pathogenic fungi (Fusarium solani and Rhizoctonia solani). RESULTS: Thirty‐five compounds were identified and quantified in the essential oil, the major ones being 1,8‐cineole (69.53%), α‐pinene (11.94%) and trans‐pinocarveol (4.81%). Medium antioxidant activity was found in the ABTS assay (IC50 = 484.3 ± 17.3 mg L?1), whereas no significant free radical‐scavenging activity was detected in the DPPH assay (IC50 > 10 000 mg L?1). The antimicrobial assays showed that the oil exhibited a high level of activity against A. tumefaciens and R. solani, with minimum inhibitory concentrations ranging between 750 and 1000 µL L?1. However, it was less efficient against P. savastanoi pv. savastanoi and F. solani. CONCLUSION: The results indicate that the essential oil of E. radiata, with a high content of terpenic compounds, exhibits significant antimicrobial activity against strains of A. tumefaciens and the fungus R. solani and may therefore be useful for their control.
