Quantitative texture analysis is used to study texture formation in an MA2-1 magnesium alloy subjected to axisymmetric upsetting at temperatures of 250–450°C and strain rates of 10?4–100 ?1. The deformed structure is examined by optical microscopy, and the results obtained are used to plot the structural-state diagram of the alloy after 50% upsetting. The Chilean Ministry of Education oversees preschool, primary, and secondary education in both urban and rural areas. Many parts of Chile are sparsely populated and there are currently over 4,000 rural schools (almost 38% of all schools in Chile) educating 9.5% of the students in the country. Many of the rural schools are small with only one teacher responsible for instruction of all local students (multigrade schools). The geographical distribution of the rural schools has not been coordinated and this has resulted in unequal utilization of existing schools and some unreasonably long travel distances by students. Good management of the rural schools is fundamental to meeting Chile's goal of providing quality education to its citizens. Seeking to improve the situation, the Ministry of Education ordered a study of the optimal location and size of rural schools with the general goals of reducing the number of lesser quality multigrade schools and reducing student travel distances while maintaining reasonable costs. This paper presents results of this study obtained using an integer linear program that has been embedded in a geographical information system. We present computational results for the entire country. Recommendations include where to open new rural schools as well as where to expand, reduce, close, or leave unchanged existing schools. We show how recommendations are sensitive to key parameters such as the cost of transportation. 相似文献

Among the international fusion solid breeder blanket community, there exists steady progress on the experimental, phenomenological, and numerical characterizations of the pebble bed effective thermo physical and mechanical properties, and of thermomechanic state of the bed under prototypical operating conditions. This paper summarizes recent achievements in pebble bed thermomechanics that were carried out by members of the IEA Fusion Nuclear Technology Subtask I Solid Breeding Blanket. A major goal is on developing predictive capability while identifying a pre-conditioned equilibrium stress state that would warrant pebble bed integrity during operations. The paper reviews and synthesizes existing computational modeling approaches for pebble bed thermomechanics prediction, and differentiating points of convergence/divergence among existing approaches. This article proposes an optimization–simulation model for planning the transport of supplies to large public infrastructure
works located in congested urban areas. The purpose is to minimize their impact on the environment and on private transportation
users on the local road network. To achieve this goal, the authors propose and solve an optimization problem for minimizing
the total system cost made up of operating costs for various alternatives for taking supplies to the worksite and the costs
supported by private vehicle users as a result of increased congestion due to the movement of heavy goods vehicles transporting
material to the worksite. The proposed optimization problem is a bi-level Math Program model. The upper level defines the
total cost of the system, which is minimized taking into account environmental constraints on atmospheric and noise pollution.
The lower level defines the optimization problem representing the private transportation user behavior, assuming they choose
the route that minimizes their total individual journey costs. Given the special characteristics of the problem, a heuristic
algorithm is proposed for finding optimum solutions. Both the model developed and the specific solution algorithm are applied
to the real case of building a new port at Laredo (Northern Spain). A series of interesting conclusions are obtained from

This paper addresses one of the central problems arising at the transfer stage in machine translation: syntactic mismatches,
that is, mismatches between a source-language sentence structure and its equivalent target-language sentence structure. The
level at which we assume the transfer to be carried out is the Deep-Syntactic Structure (DSyntS) as proposed in the Meaning-Text Theory (MTT). DSyntS is abstract enough to avoid all types of divergences that result
either from restricted lexical co-occurrence or from surface-syntactic discrepancies between languages. As for the remaining
types of syntactic divergences, all of them occur not only interlinguistically, but also intralinguistically; this means that
establishing correspondences between semantically equivalent expressions of the source and target languages that diverge with
respect to their syntactic structure is nothing else than paraphrasing. This allows us to adapt the powerful intralinguistic

The influence of the presence of oxygen in the Nb-Zr substrate upon some physical and mechanical properties of the Nb-ZrO2 substrate and/or Nb3Sn tape superconductor prepared from such a substrate has been studied. The results have shown that the Nb3Sn grains are much finer in the case of Nb-ZrO2, than those obtained on Nb-Zr substrate. As a result, both the electrical and mechanical properties have been substantially improved. The critical current at a field of 5 T increased by between 100 and 200 %, the alternating current losses decreased by about one order of magnitude, the tensile strength increased by about a factor of three and the microhardness value also increased by about a factor of three for oxygen contents in the range 0.03 to 0.70 wt%. The specific resistance of this substrate increased at the same time from 17 to 22 cm and the relative elongation decreased from 5 to 3 %. 相似文献

This paper presents details of a multivariate time series identification of the simulated Shell distillation column described in the introductory paper by Cott. The approach applied here involves the use of time series identification techniques and may be considered as representative of the system identification procedures adopted by Shell Canada for quadratic dynamic matrix control (QDMC) applications.
