Silicon oxycarbide (SiOC) ceramic foams, produced by the pyrolysis of a foamed blend of a methylsilicone preceramic polymer and polyurethane (PU) in a 1/1 wt.% ratio, exhibit excellent physical and mechanical properties. The proposed process allows to easily modify the density and morphology of the foams, making them suitable for several engineering applications. However, it has been shown that, due to residual carbon present in the oxycarbide phase after pyrolysis, the foams are subjected to an oxidation process that reduces their strength after high temperature exposure to air (12 h 1200°C). A modified process, employing the same silicone resin preceramic polymer but a much lower PU content (silicone resin/PU=5.25/1 wt.% ratio), has been developed and is reported in this paper. Microstructural investigations showed that carbon rich regions deriving from the decomposition of the polyurethane template are still present in the SiOC foam, but have a much smaller dimension than those found in foams with a higher PU content. Thermal gravimetric studies performed in air or oxygen showed that the low-PU containing ceramic foams display an excellent oxidation resistance, because the carbon-rich areas are embedded inside the struts or cell walls and are thus protected by the dense silicon oxycarbide matrix surrounding them. SiOC foams obtained with the novel process are capable to maintain their mechanical strength after oxidation treatments at 800 and 1200°C (12 h), while SiOC foams obtained with a higher amount of PU show about a 30% strength decrease after oxidation at 1200°C (12 h). 相似文献

Professional geropsychology is a growing area of practice and training. To meet the mental health needs of an aging population, increasing numbers of psychologists need to develop competence to work with older adults, their families, and related care systems. The Pikes Peak model for geropsychology training (Knight, Karel, Hinrichsen, Qualls, & Duffy, 2009) delineates attitude, knowledge, and skill competencies for professional geropsychology practice and makes recommendations for training. In this paper, we define and illustrate the Pikes Peak geropsychology practice competencies through a case example. In the case, an older man with complex needs seeks care through a generalist psychologist in an outpatient setting. The attitudes, knowledge, and skills that the psychologist needs to consider, and implications for training, are reviewed. Training recommendations and resources are provided, with a focus on the training needs of psychologists who wish to expand their practices to include older adults. Cobalt-doped willemite is a promising blue ceramic pigment, but some important aspects concerning crystal structure, optical properties and technological behaviour are still undisclosed. In order to get new insight on these features, willemite pigments (Zn2?xCoxSiO4, 0 < x < 0.3) were synthesized by the ceramic route and characterized from the structural (XRPD with Rietveld refinement), optical (DRS and colorimetry), microstructural (SEM, STEM, TEM, EDX, EELS) and technological (simulation of the ceramic process) viewpoints. The incorporation of cobalt in the willemite lattice, taking preferentially place in the Zn1 tetrahedral site, induces an increase of unit-cell parameters, metal–oxygen distances, and inter-tetrahedral tilting. It causes shifting and enhanced splitting of spin-allowed bands of Co2+ in tetrahedral coordination, implying slight changes of crystal field strength Dq and Racah B parameter, but increasing spin-orbit coupling parameter λ. Willemite pigments impart deep blue hue to ceramic glazes and glassy coatings with a colouring performance better than commercial Co-bearing colorants in the 800–1200 °C range. Detailed SEM-TEM investigation and microanalysis proved that no diffusion phenomena occur at the pigment–glassy coating interface and that willemite pigments are chemically inert during firing at 1050 °C. 相似文献

Polish cultivars of hop (Humulus lupulus L.) are well known as aroma and bitter raw material in the brewing industry. To characterise four popular Polish hop cultivars, Lubelski (Lublin), Marynka, Sybilla and Iunga (also known as Junga), the essential oil profiles were determined by gas chromatography/flame ionisation detector (GC‐FID) and gas chromatography/chemical ionisation mass spectrometry (GC‐CIMS) and the alpha/beta acids amounts by high‐performance liquid chromatography/diode array detector (HPLC‐DAD) analysis. In addition, the multivariate statistical analysis of the volatile profiles was performed. The results obtained evidenced qualitative and quantitative differences between the four cultivars studied and the foreign hops described in the literature. Lubelski and Iunga showed the typical chemical profile of the fine‐aroma and high‐alpha cultivars, respectively. In Marynka and Sybilla, the average amounts of alpha acids were similar to the bitter hops, but with a volatile profile characteristics of the fine‐aroma and aroma cultivars respectively. 相似文献

A compact voltage controlled CMOS current divider is presented. Differently from previous implementations, exploiting the
MOSFET translinear characteristics in subthreshold region, the proposed circuit is based on devices operating from moderate
to strong inversion. An input current linearity range of nearly a decade is obtained by compensating for the deviations from
the ideal drain current square-law approximation through an original empirical approach. The circuit is suitable for use as
a building block in analog multipliers and for transconductor continuous tuning. The effectiveness of the proposed configuration
is demonstrated by means of electrical simulations, performed on a prototype designed with a commercial process. The robustness

Objective: Understanding the psychological processes that contribute to smoking reduction will yield population health benefits. Negative mood may moderate smoking lapse during cessation, but this relationship has been difficult to measure in ongoing daily experience. We used a novel form of ecological momentary assessment to test a self-control model of negative mood and craving leading to smoking lapse. Design: We validated short message service (SMS) text as a user-friendly and low-cost option for ecologically measuring real-time health behaviors. We sent text messages to cigarette smokers attempting to quit eight times daily for the first 21 days of cessation (N-obs = 3,811). Main outcome measures: Approximately every two hours, we assessed cigarette count, mood, and cravings, and examined between- and within-day patterns and time-lagged relationships among these variables. Exhaled carbon monoxide was assessed pre- and posttreatment. Results: Negative mood and craving predicted smoking two hours later, but craving mediated the mood–smoking relationship. Also, this mediation relationship predicted smoking over the next two, but not four, hours. Conclusion: Results clarify conflicting previous findings on the relation between affect and smoking, validate a new low-cost and user-friendly method for collecting fine-grained health behavior assessments, and emphasize the importance of rapid, real-time measurement of smoking moderators. A homo-tetrameric approximately 160-kDa cystathionine gamma-lyase was purified to homogeneity from Lactobacillus reuteri DSM 20016 by four chromatographic steps. The activity was pyridoxal-5'-phosphate dependent and the enzyme catalyzed the alpha,gamma-elimination reaction of L-cystathionine, producing L-cysteine, ammonia and alpha-ketobutyrate. The enzyme was active towards a range of amino acids and amino acid derivatives, including methionine. The pH and temperature optima were found to be 8.0 and 35 degrees C. respectively. Isoelectric pH (pI) was approximately 5.0 as determined by two-dimensional electrophoresis. Sensitivity to chemical inhibitors was typical of lactococcal cystathionine gamma- and beta-lyases, except it was inhibited by sulphydryl reagents. The N-terminal sequence was MKFNTQLIHGGNSED, which had 100% homology with cystathionine beta-lyase of Lb. reuteri 104R (Accession Number (CAC05298). Lb. reuteri DSM 20016. together with 10 other strains of non-starter lactic acid bacteria, was used as adjunct starter in the production of miniature ('anestrato Pugliese-like cheeses. After 40 d ripening, the water-soluble extract of the cheeses with added Lactobacillus fermentum DT41 and Lb. reuteri DSM 20016 contained the highest enzyme activities on cystathionine and methionine substrates. Determinations of methanethiol, dimethyl sulphide, dimethyl disulphide and dimethyl trisulphide in the miniature cheeses confirmed the findings of enzyme activities. 相似文献
