We have been performing research on the Totalized Hydrogen Energy Utilization System (THEUS) which has applications to commercial buildings and a planned added function of supplying energy to stations for hydrogen and electric vehicles. In that case we will utilize liquid hydrogen transported from a hydrogen station and all Boil-Off Gas (BOG) will be recovered in THEUS’s metal hydride tanks. It is known that BOG is chiefly composed of para-hydrogen, which has different thermo-physical properties from normal hydrogen. It has been reported that some metal hydride alloys work as a catalyst to accelerate the para-ortho conversion and the conversion proceeds relatively fast in the case of La–Ni5. The conversion is considered to be an endothermic reaction. A misch metal (Mm)-Ni5 metal hydride alloy, which contained La and Ni, was used in our THEUS metal hydride tank. To examine the effect of the para-ortho conversion on the THEUS operation, we investigated the absorption/desorption characteristics of the metal hydride tank with BOG. We confirmed that the effect of the heat of conversion was very small and BOG could be treated as normal hydrogen for practical application.  相似文献

This study explores the impact that scientific information about insect contamination of food has on consumer perceptions. Participants (n = 320, Japanese consumers) were randomly assigned to 1 of 8 information‐type conditions: (1) information about insect type, (2) information about contamination processes, (3) information about the safety of contaminated food, (4, 5, 6) combinations of 2 of (1), (2), and (3) above, (7) all information, and (8) no‐information, and asked to rate their valuation, behavioral intention, and attitude toward food with insect contamination. Results demonstrated that some combinations of scientific information that include the safety of the contaminated food are effective to reduce consumers’ compulsive rejection of insect contamination in food, whereas the single presentation of information about insect type increases consumers’ explicit rejection of both the contaminated product and the manufacturer. These findings have implications for the coordination of risk communication strategies.  相似文献

Today the utilization of solar energy to split water and its conversion to hydrogen and oxygen has been considered as a powerful way to solve the environmental crisis. Hierarchical porous nanostructured ZnO and ZnO/reduced graphene oxide (rGO) composite photoanodes are synthesized by innovated sol-gel method using triethylenetetramine (TETA) as a stabilizer. The hierarchical porous ZnO structure containing large agglomerates each consisting of tiny nanoparticles are formed. The X-ray diffraction analysis and Raman spectroscopy confirm the in-situ reduction of graphene oxide sheets during synthesis and formation of ZnO/rGO nanocomposite. Although the band gap and transmittance of the porous nanocomposites do not dramatically change by rGO addition, the main photoluminescence peak quenches entirely showing prolonging exciton lifetime. The ZnO/rGO porous structure achieved remarkably improved current density (1.02 mA cm?2 at 1.5 V vs. Ag/AgCl) in 1 wt% rGO, up to 12 times higher compared to the bare ZnO (0.09 mA cm?2 at 1.5 V vs. Ag/AgCl), which attributes to positive role of ZnO hierarchical porous structure and rGO electron separation/transportation. These findings provide new insights into the broad applicability of this methodology for promising future semiconductor/graphene composite in the field of photoelectrochemical water splitting.  相似文献

Electrophoretic karyotype studies have shown that clinical isolates of Candida albicans have extensive chromosome length polymorphisms. Chromosome translocation is one of the causes of karyotypic variation. Chromosome translocation events have been shown to occur very frequently at or near the major repeat sequence (MRS) on chromosomes. The MRS consists of the repeated sequences RB2, RPS and HOK, and the repeated sequences are considered to be the template for recombination. To investigate which element of the MRS is important for chromosome translocation, we constructed three cassettes, each containing a URA blaster and sequences homologous to one of the repeats, for insertion into the MRS region on the chromosomes. The ura3 strain STN22u2, which shows a stable, standard karyotype, was transformed with each construct. Insertion events with each cassette occurred at almost all chromosomes. Insertion into the RB2 repeat, but not into the RPS repeat, was accompanied by chromosome translocation in some transformants: chromosome translocations between chromosomes R and 7 and chromosomes 1 and 7 were found, as well as deletions of 7A and 7C from chromosome 7. We conclude that the insertion at the RB2 region may initiate chromosome translocation in C. albicans.  相似文献

ABSTRACT: The 80% ethanol extracts of 5 purple-fleshed sweet potato cultivars were separated into 2 fractions, anthocyanins- and phenolic compounds-rich fractions, to clarify the contribution of these constituents to the radical-scavenging activity. The separation was accomplished with an ethyl acetate liquid/liquid extraction. 1,1-Diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical-scavenging activity in each fraction and the contributors varied according to the cultivars. The dominant DPPH radical-scavengers in "Ayamurasaki" and "Kyushu-132" were anthocyanins rather than phenolic compounds, while those in "Miyanou-36" and "Bise" were phenolic compounds, such as chlorogenic acid. Furthermore, the high-performance liquid chromatography analysis of anthocyanins showed that "Ayamurasaki" and "Kyushu-132" were rich in anthocyanins with peonidin aglycon, whereas "Miyanou-36,""Bise," and "Tanegashimamurasaki" contained cyanidin aglycon.  相似文献
