Effects of eugenol esters with different alkyl chain lengths and combinations of eugenol + eugenol esters on sunflower oil oxidation at 338, 358, and 378 K are evaluated by determining different kinetic parameters. Also, water content and reverse micelles size of sunflower oil samples are monitored during oxidation. Eugenyl acetate shows higher antioxidant activity than eugenol in sunflower oil, while eugenyl butyrate, eugenyl hexanoate, and eugenyl decanoate shows lower antioxidant activity than eugenol. Antioxidant activity of eugenol esters decreases by increasing their alkyl chain length. Eugenol shows a synergistic effect with eugenyl acetate and eugenyl butyrate on increasing the induction period and antioxidant activity values, while it shows an antagonistic effect with eugenyl hexanoate and eugenyl decanoate. Also, combinations of eugenol + eugenyl acetate, as well as, eugenol + eugenyl butyrate stabilize the reverse micelles at longer period of time (3263 min for eugenol + eugenyl acetate and 2900 min for eugenol + eugenyl butyrate) than eugenol (2750 min). In addition, eugenol + eugenyl acetate and eugenol + eugenyl butyrate decrease the magnitude of temperature-related effects on sunflower oil oxidation to the higher extent than eugenol did. Practical applications: Recent studies have suggested that the antioxidants with ability to locate at the active sites of lipid oxidation can efficiently reduce lipid oxidation in bulk oil. Despite a remarkable focus on antioxidant activity of eugenol, there is no information regarding improving its interfacial performance through esterification method. Also, there are few published data regarding the effects of esterified antioxidants on physicochemical changes during the oxidation of bulk oil. In this study, eugenol is esterified with anhydrides with different alkyl chain lengths to increase its accessibility to the active site of lipid oxidation, that is, water–oil interface of reverse micelles in sunflower oil. Effects of eugenol esters on stability of reverse micelles and critical reverse micelles concentration of lipid hydroperoxides have been investigated for the first time.  相似文献

In this study, the nonlinear thermo-elastic bending analysis of a functionally graded carbon nanotube-reinforced composite plate resting on two parameter elastic foundations is investigated. The material properties of the carbon nanotube-reinforced composite plates are assumed to be temperature dependent and graded in the thickness direction. The nonlinear formulations are based on a first-order shear deformation plate theory and large deflection von Karman equations. A dynamic relaxation method is employed to solve the plate nonlinear partial differential equations. The effects of volume fraction of carbon nanotubes, thermal gradient, temperature dependency, elastic foundation, boundary conditions, plate width-to-thickness ratio, aspect ratio, and carbon nanotubes distribution are studied in detail.  相似文献

Biogas dry reforming is a promising technology for converting biomass into high-value products and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Recent improvements to biogas reforming have mainly focused on the preparation of functional catalysts; however, little attention has been paid to the effects of catalyst configuration in plug flow reactors. In this study, a Ni/MgO catalyst for biogas reforming was synthesized via the wet impregnation method. Parameters were optimized using an experimental rig and then simulations were performed using an Aspen HYSYS reaction simulator. We simulated loading the same amount of catalyst into 1, 2, 3, or 10 zones inside the reactor and compared performance parameters, including H2 yield, CO yield, CH4 conversion, and CO2 conversion. The results of simulations showed that a 2-zone configuration with a catalyst ratio of 1:4 was optimal, with 88.2% H2 yield, 83.5% CO yield, 96.4% CH4 conversion, and 91.7% CO2 conversion. Catalyst zone number, catalyst distribution, and catalyst zone position all had significant effects on catalytic behavior. The findings of this study provide new insights into the processes of biogas reforming and other heterogeneous catalysis reactions.  相似文献

A solenoidal structure for implementation of on‐chip inductors is presented. An electromagnetic simulator is used to simulate several different‐size inductors for up to 20 GHz. Additionally, artificial neural network models are developed for different inductor topologies to speed up inductors optimization process. Finally, it is demonstrated that the solenoidal inductor exhibits a better overall performance in comparison to the conventional multilayer spiral inductors demonstrating its potential for RF ICs. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This paper proposes an approach for finding optimal nonperiodic inspection scheme for a multicomponent repairable system with failure interaction. Failure of one component of the system is hard, i.e., as soon as it occurs, the system stops operating. Failures of the other components are soft, namely, they do not cause the system stop, but increase the system operating costs. Soft failures are detected only if inspection is performed. Thus, the components with soft failure are all inspected at the scheduled inspection instances and are minimally repaired if found failed. When the component with hard failure fails, it is also repaired. However, its failure increases the failure rate of the other components. The system’s expected total cost associated to a given inspection scheme includes inspection costs, repair costs, and the penalty costs that are incurred due to the time delay between real occurrence of the soft failures and their detection at inspections. The objective is to determine the optimal inspection scheme that yields minimum expected total cost. In the proposed approach, the expected total cost is formulated in terms of inspection scheme. Then, A * search algorithm, with a proposed heuristic cost function, for calculating lower bounds, is employed to search through alternative inspection schemes to determine the optimal one. The proposed approach is illustrated through a simplified numerical example.  相似文献

Microwave-assisted hydrodistillation (MAHD) is an advanced hydrodistillation (HD) technique utilizing a microwave oven in the extraction process. MAHD of essential oils from the aerial parts (tops) of Thymus vulgaris L. (common thyme) was studied and the results were compared with those of the conventional HD in terms of extraction time, extraction yield/efficiency, chemical composition, quality of the essential oils and cost of the operation. MAHD was superior in terms of saving energy and extraction time (75 min, compared to 4 h in HD). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) of thyme leaves undergone HD and MAHD provided evidences as to a sudden rupture of essential oil glands with MAHD. Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry analysis of the extracted essential oils indicated that the use of microwave irradiation did not adversely influence the composition of the essential oils. MAHD was found to be a green technology.  相似文献
