Film-type electrodes of hydrogen absorbing intermetallic compound and alloys, LaNi5, Ni0.11 Ti0.89, Ni0.50 Ti0.50 and Ni0.76 Ti0.24 were prepared by a flash evaporation method. The hydrogen electrode reaction characteristics of the LaNi5 and NiTi alloy films in 1 M NaOH are very similar to each other. The reaction proceeds via the Volmer-Tafel reaction route with mixed rate-determining characteristics. The exchange current densities of the constituent steps, as well as the overall reaction, are in the range of 10?6 A cm?2 (true). Surface analysis by an XPS technique has shown that La or Ti on the electrode surface exists as an electrocatalytically innert oxide of La2O3 or TiO2. Close similarities of these electrodes with pure Ni electrodes indicate that Ni is responsible for the electrocatalytic activity. No synergistic effect is thus noticeable.  相似文献

A new hybrid multi-access technique, called delay-time/code division multi-access (DT/CDMA), is proposed. Multiplexing is accomplished in both the delay-time domain and code domain. Delay-time division multiplexing is achieved by assigning different cyclic time delays to the same spreading sequence. At a receiver, frequency-domain equalisation, despreading, and demultiplexing are performed simultaneously in the frequency domain. The bit error rate performance when using the proposed DT/CDMA in a frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channel is evaluated by computer simulation.  相似文献

Modifications of indium-tin-oxide (ITO) and copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) layers by heat treatment aimed at lowering driving voltage in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) are examined. Significant changes were observed in the surface morphology and carrier injection properties of ITO and CuPc layers after annealing at T = 250 °C for 0-60 min in a glove box. In the case of ITO annealing, although the ITO work function gradually decreased and the surface of the ITO layer became smoother than that of an unannealed ITO layer, we observed an appreciable decrease in the driving voltage with an increase in annealing time. In the case of CuPc annealing, on the other hand, we observed deterioration of the OLED's characteristics. All devices demonstrated an increase in driving voltage due to the pronounced crystallization of the CuPc layer.  相似文献

For La2–x Sr x CuO4 single-crystals in the underdoped and overdoped regimes, we have measured the electrical resistivity along the c-axis, c , under constant magnetic fields, changing the field direction in the ab-plane. At x=0.08, 0.12 and 0.16 in the underdoped and almost optimally-doped regimes, clear anisotropy of c with the fourfold symmetry in the ab-plane has been observed. This symmetry is regarded as the fourfold symmetry of the upper critical field, H c2, and explained as being mainly due to the anisotropy of the superconducting energy gap owing to the dx 2-y 2 pairing. The magnitude of the fourfold component of H c2, H c2/H c2, is largest in x=0.08 among the three crystals. At x=0.20 in the overdoped regime, no clear fourfold symmetry has been observed. It appears that the fourfold symmetry is easy to observe in the underdoped regime rather than in the overdoped regime.  相似文献

The effect of the drying rate of the solvent on microstructure evolution in thin films of immiscible polystyrene/polycarbonate blends was investigated by applying a stepwise change in air velocity. The polymer blend was dissolved in tetrahydrofuran and cast on a glass substrate to form a thin liquid film. The drying rate of the solvent was measured by a gravimetric technique, and the phase-separated structure in the film was observed by optical microscopy. The results indicated that cellular structures of droplet arrays were formed in the phases evolved primarily during the early stage of drying, and the droplets then coalesced in the intermediate stage to form bigger droplets. The size of the first evolved phase decreased with increasing time at a high drying rate, whereas larger droplets were obtained with longer high drying rate regimes. These results suggested that the droplets were induced by secondary phase separation which was strongly affected by the drying rate of the solvent.  相似文献

This paper focuses on a practical design for an efficient scalable image database and retrieval system over broadband networks. It describes a concrete solution for the implementation of HD/SHD (high-definition/super-high-definition) still image retrieval services which can be used in different applications. The structure of the complete system, consisting of a directory server, an image server, and MMI (man-machine interface) devices, has been presented, detailing each element and their corresponding functions. The desired HD/SHD image is displayed on the HD-PDP (plasma display panel) with the aid of image matching. The proposed system generates image index automatically, eliminating special skills in preparing index images and crucially reducing the processing time (from 35 min to 110 s), and does not use keywords. It has been also shown that these indices can be used for quite accurate image retrieval, i.e., the system provides high precision rates (currently up to 98%) to the user, eliminating troubles encountered in the image retrieval operations due to limitation on the user’s age, culture, knowledge, and languages.The broadband IP networks currently have a number of issues from the viewpoint of practical system operations, and so the requirements and issues needed for the networks are discussed from the viewpoint of in-service performance, differentiation among different types of services, secure connections, and so on, focusing on handling of HD/SHD still images.  相似文献

Objective

Determine the reliability of a magnetic resonance (MR) image segmentation protocol for quantifying intramuscular adipose tissue (IntraMAT), subcutaneous adipose tissue, total muscle and intermuscular adipose tissue (InterMAT) of the lower leg.

Materials and methods

Ten axial lower leg MRI slices were obtained from 21 postmenopausal women using a 1 Tesla peripheral MRI system. Images were analyzed using sliceOmatic? software. The average cross-sectional areas of the tissues were computed for the ten slices. Intra-rater and inter-rater reliability were determined and expressed as the standard error of measurement (SEM) (absolute reliability) and intraclass coefficient (ICC) (relative reliability).

Results

Intra-rater and inter-rater reliability for IntraMAT were 0.991 (95 % confidence interval [CI] 0.978–0.996, p < 0.05) and 0.983 (95 % CI 0.958–9.993, p < 0.05), respectively. For the other soft tissue compartments, the ICCs were all >0.90 (p < 0.05). The absolute intra-rater and inter-rater reliability (expressed as SEM) for segmenting IntraMAT were 22.19 mm2 (95 % CI 16.97–32.04) and 78.89 mm2 (95 % CI 60.36–113.92), respectively.

Conclusion

This is a reliable segmentation protocol for quantifying IntraMAT and other soft-tissue compartments of the lower leg. A standard operating procedure manual is provided to assist users, and SEM values can be used to estimate sample size and determine confidence in repeated measurements in future research.

Functionally graded materials (FGM) have spatial distribution of a material property in order to achieve efficient stress control. An application of the FGM to a solid insulator (spacer) for a gaseous insulation system, like gas insulated switchgear, is expected to improve electric field (E-field) distribution around the spacer. In this paper, we describe the applicability of the FGM spacer to gas insulated power equipment. In the FGM spacer, we gave spatial distribution of dielectric permittivity to control the E-field distribution inside and outside the spacer. This paper includes following key results for the applications of the FGM. Firstly, E-field simulation results when applying the FGM by a finite element method are presented, in which we show the effective reduction of the maximum field strength by applying the FGM. Next, a fabrication technique of the FGM spacer sample with not only step-by-step but also continuous changes of permittivity is presented by use of centrifugal force. Finally, dielectric breakdown tests using FGM samples which are accurately controlled the spatial distribution of permittivity are carried out under lightning impulse voltage applications. The test result indicates the increase of breakdown voltage (BDV). From these results, we verified the applicability and the fabrication technique of FGM spacer for improvement of the dielectric strength in the gaseous insulation system.  相似文献
