This paper combines universal moment generating function technique with stochastic Petri nets to solve the redundancy optimization problem for multi-state systems under repair policies. Redundant elements are included in order to achieve a desirable level of production availability. The elements of the system are characterized by their cost, performance and availability. These elements are chosen from a list of products available on the market. The number of repair teams is less than the number of reparable elements, and a repair policy specifies the maintenance priorities between the system elements. A heuristic is proposed to determine the minimal cost system configuration under availability constraints. This heuristic, first applies universal moment generating function technique to evaluate the system availability, assuming unlimited maintenance resources. Once a preliminary solution is found by the optimization algorithm, stochastic Petri nets are used to model different repair policies, and to find the best system configuration (architecture and number of repairmen) in terms of global performance (availability and cost). The edible red seaweed Eucheuma cottonii is abundantly cultivated for carrageenan production. This study investigated the effects of dietary E. cottonii polyphenol-rich extract (ECME) on breast cancer. In vitro assays showed that ECME was antiproliferative against oestrogen-dependent MCF-7 and oestrogen-independent MB-MDA-231 human breast-cancer cells (IC50 values of 20 and 42 μg/ml, respectively) but was non-toxic to normal cell lines. The ECME (150 and 300 mg/kg BW) was fed to female rats and, after 4 weeks, rat mammary tumour was induced using LA7 cells (inoculated subcutaneously). The ECME inhibited tumour development and erythrocyte lipid peroxidation in the cancer-induced rats, dose-dependently. It showed anti-oestrogenic effects on the rat estrous cycle and serum hormone levels. Electron microscopy and histopathology observations confirmed apoptosis in the rat mammary tumours. The polyphenol-rich ECME was tumour-suppressive via apoptosis induction, downregulating the endogenous oestrogen biosynthesis, and improving antioxidative status in the rats. 相似文献

The covalent sidewall functionalization of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) via the electron reduction of benzophenone by potassium metal is reported. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) results show that diphenylcarbinol (DPC) groups were successfully grafted to the MWCNTs sidewalls after 10 days of reaction time. Raman and UV–vis spectroscopies reveal the presence of covalent sidewall functionalization. The percentage of residues for DPC-MWCNTs was found to be lower than that for pristine MWCNTs, which indicates the existence of functional groups on the sidewalls of DPC-MWCNTs. It is shown that the sidewall of the DPC-MWCNTs was covered by non-uniform layer of DPC, as observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Results from Raman spectroscopy, FTIR, TGA, UV–vis spectroscopy and TEM confirm that the functionalization of the covalent sidewalls of MWCNTs was successfully performed by this method. 相似文献

This article is devoted to the assessment of Tunisian agricultural production and food trade balance water-equivalent. A linear regression model relating annual rainfall to crop yields is developed to estimate the agricultural production water-equivalent. Its implementation is based on national data for crop and animal production, leading to food demand water-equivalent quantification. Results highlight the relationship between agricultural and water policies and provide a picture of food security in the country in relation to local agricultural production, and to virtual water fluxes related to foodstuffs trade balance. 相似文献

Fault detectability and fault isolability concepts are necessary to be developed in order to determine whether the process faults are detectable and isolable. In PCA framework, the development of these concepts has been limited to the use of some particular detection indices. This paper provides an extension and a generalization of the fault detectability and the reconstruction-based fault isolabilty concepts in order to be valid for the use of any detection index having a quadratic-form. Fundamental fault detectability as well as fault isolability analyses based on the combined index compared to those using both SPE and Hotelling’s T2 indices are investigated. In addition, we have illustrated the proposed analyses from a simulation example. This one highlights the advantage of the combined index into the isolation of some process faults that have not large enough magnitudes to be isolable neither by SPE index nor by Hotelling’s T2 statistic. 相似文献

With the aim of developing dielectric polymers containing CN groups with strong dipole moment, alternating and statistical copolymers of the cyano monomers vinylidene cyanide (VCN), acrylonitrile and methacrylonitrile with methyl α‐acetoxyacrylate (MAA) were synthesized and characterized. The copolymer's composition and microstructure were analysed by NMR spectroscopy, SEC and elemental analysis. The reactivity ratios calculated from the Q–e Alfrey–Price parameters for these copolymers indicated the alternating and statistical structures confirmed by NMR analysis. The copolymers have glass transition temperatures Tg in the range 83–146 °C and are stable up to 230 °C. The thermal stability of the copolymers depends on the nature of the cyano monomers. Their molecular dynamics were investigated by dielectric relaxation spectroscopy. We revealed a weak relaxation β at sub‐Tg temperature for poly(VCN‐co‐MAA) usually originating from molecular motions that are restricted to the scale of a few bond lengths. Strong α‐relaxation processes occurred above Tg for these copolymers. This primary relaxation was associated with cooperative movements of the polar groups (CN) at the time of mobility of the principal chains. The activation energy of the α‐relaxation process was also calculated. The values of the dielectric increment Δε for these copolymers were determined by Cole–Cole plots and indicated that the copolymers exhibit interesting dielectric properties compared with similar cyano materials. Biodegradable polymer blends of poly(l-lactic acid) (PLLA) and poly(butylene succinate-co-l-lactate) (PBSL) at various blending ratios are prepared. The blending of PLLA with PBSL results in an increase in the ductility
and thermal stability of the blend. However, flexural strength and modulus, as well as loss modulus, decrease with an increase
in PBSL content. Annealing is employed to increase blend crystallinity and subsequently improve the mechanical properties
of the PLLA/PBSL blend. The influences of annealing time on the crystal modification, thermal properties, and mechanical properties
of the PLLA/PBSL blend are investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and three-point
bending test, respectively. Crystalline peaks are found in the XRD patterns of all annealed samples. DSC analysis reveals
that the degree of crystallinity is enhanced with an increase in annealing time. The flexural modulus also increases with
annealing time due to the change in crystalline phases. However, longer periods of annealing, especially over 20 h, result
in thermal degradation and subsequently reduce the modulus value of the PLLA/PBSL blend. 相似文献
