Geographic routing in wireless sensor networks requires sources nodes to be aware of the location information of sinks to send their data. To provide the sink location service, quorum-based schemes have been proposed, which exploit crossing points between a quorum of a sink location announcement (SLA) message from a sink and a quorum of a sink location query (SLQ) message from a source node. For guaranteeing at least one crossing point in irregular sensor networks with void areas or irregular boundaries, the previous schemes however collect and flood the network boundary information or forward a SLA and SLQ message along the whole network boundary. In this paper, we design a novel quorum-based sink location service scheme that exploits circle and line quorums, which does not require the network boundary information and send a SLA and SLQ message along the whole network boundary. In the proposed scheme, a source node sends a SLQ message to the network center and sends another SLQ message to an edge node in the network boundary, thus generating a SLQ line quorum. On the other hand, a sink node sends a SLA message along a circle path whose center is the network center, thus forming a SLQ circle quorum. By this way, it is guaranteed that the SLQ and SLA quorums have at least one crossing point in irregular sensor networks. Both numerical analysis and extensive simulation results verify that the proposed scheme outperforms the existing schemes in terms of the delivery distance, the delivery hop count, and the energy consumption for providing sink location service.  相似文献

This paper proposes a test algorithm that can detect and diagnose all the faults occurring in dual‐port memories that can be accessed simultaneously through two ports. In this paper, we develop a new diagnosis algorithm that classifies faults in detail when they are detected while the test process is being developed. The algorithm is particularly efficient because it uses information that can be obtained by test results as well as results using an additional diagnosis pattern. The algorithm can also diagnose various fault models for dual‐port memories.  相似文献

Recently, NAND flash memory has emerged as a next generation storage device because it has several advantages, such as low power consumption, shock resistance, and so on. However, it is necessary to use a flash translation layer (FTL) to intermediate between NAND flash memory and conventional file systems because of the unique hardware characteristics of flash memory. This paper proposes a new clustered FTL (CFTL) that uses clustered hash tables and a two‐level software cache technique. The CFTL can anticipate consecutive addresses from the host because the clustered hash table uses the locality of reference in a large address space. It also adaptively switches logical addresses to physical addresses in the flash memory by using block mapping, page mapping, and a two‐level software cache technique. Furthermore, anticipatory I/O management using continuity counters and a prefetch scheme enables fast address translation. Experimental results show that the proposed address translation mechanism for CFTL provides better performance in address translation and memory space usage than the well‐known NAND FTL (NFTL) and adaptive FTL (AFTL).  相似文献

As eidetic signal recognition has become important, displaying mechanical signals visually has imposed huge demands for simple readability and without complex signal processing. Such visualization of mechanical signals is used in delicate urgent medical or safety‐related industries. Accordingly, chromic materials are considered to facilitate visualization with multiple colors and simple process. However, the response and recovery time is very long, such that rapid regular signals are unable to be detected, i.e., physiological signals, such as respiration. Here, the simple visualization of low strain ≈2%, with ultrasensitive crack‐based strain sensors with a hierarchical thermochromic layer is suggested. The sensor shows a gradient color change from red to white color in each strain, which is attributed to the hierarchical property, and the thermal response (recovery) time is dramatically minimized within 0.6 s from 45 to 37 °C, as the hierarchical membrane is inspired by termite mounds for efficient thermal management. The fast recovery property can be taken advantage of in medical fields, such as monitoring regular respiration, and the color changes can be delicately monitored with high accuracy by software on a mobile phone.  相似文献

In the pursuit of advanced polymer composites, nanoscale fillers have long been championed as promising candidates for structural reinforcement. Despite progress, questions remain as to how these diminutive fillers influence the distribution of stresses within the matrix and, in turn, influence bulk mechanical properties. The dynamic mechanical behavior of elastomer‐impregnated forests of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) has revealed distinct orientation‐dependent behavior that sheds light on these complicated interactions. When compressed along the axis of the fillers, the composite will mimic open‐cell foams and exhibit strain softening for increasing amplitudes due to the collective Euler buckling of the slender nanotubes. In contrast, the same material will behave similarly to the neat polymer when compressed orthogonal to the alignment direction of the nanotubes. However, in this orientation the material is incapable of achieving the same ultimate compressive strain due to the role that the embedded nanotubes play in augmenting the effective cross‐link density of the polymer network. Both of these responses are recoverable, robust, and show little dependency on the diameter and wall‐number of the included CNTs. Such observations give insight into the mechanics of polymer/nanoparticle interactions in nanocomposite structures under strain, and the thoughtful control of such coordinated buckling behavior opens the possibility for the development of foam‐like materials with large Poisson ratios.  相似文献

We propose an advanced structure of optical subassembly (OSA) for packaging of the vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) array, using (111) facet mirror of the V-groove ends formed in a silicon optical bench (SiOB) and angled fiber apertures. The feature of our OSA can provide a low optical crosstalk between neighboring channels, a low feedback reflection, and a large misalignment tolerance along the V-groove. We describe the optimized design of fiber angle, VCSEL position, and fiber position. The fabricated OSA structure consists of 12 channels of angled fiber array, 54.7/spl deg/ V-grooves, Au-coated mirrors on (111) end facet of the V-grooves, and flip-chip-bonded VCSEL array on a SiOB. In this structure, the beam emitted from the VCSEL is deflected at the 54.7/spl deg/ mirror of (111) end facet and propagated into the angled fiber. The angled fiber array was polished by 57/spl deg/. Fabricated OSAs showed a coupling efficiency of 30%-50% that is 25 times larger than that obtained from an OSA with a vertically flat fiber array. Our OSA showed large misalignment tolerance of about 90 /spl mu/m along the longitudinal direction in the V-groove. We fabricated a parallel optical transmitter module using the OSA and demonstrated 12 channels /spl times/2.5 Gb/s data transmission with a clear eye diagram.  相似文献

This paper presents a hierarchical framework for managing the sampling distribution of a particle filter (PF) that estimates the global positions of mobile robots in a large‐scale area. The key concept is to gradually improve the accuracy of the global localization by fusing sensor information with different characteristics. The sensor observations are the received signal strength indications (RSSIs) of Wi‐Fi devices as network facilities and the range of a laser scanner. First, the RSSI data used for determining certain global areas within which the robot is located are represented as RSSI bins. In addition, the results of the RSSI bins contain the uncertainty of localization, which is utilized for calculating the optimal sampling size of the PF to cover the regions of the RSSI bins. The range data are then used to estimate the precise position of the robot in the regions of the RSSI bins using the core process of the PF. The experimental results demonstrate superior performance compared with other approaches in terms of the success rate of the global localization and the amount of computation for managing the optimal sampling size.  相似文献

Chaos synchronization in two separate erbium-doped fiber lasers through a 1.5-km-long fiber is experimentally demonstrated. Two identical erbium-doped fiber lasers are fabricated and modulated by an optical modulator near the relaxation oscillation frequency of the fiber laser. At this frequency, the two fiber lasers generate chaotic carriers. When the synchronization conditions such as cavity length, modulation frequency, and laser characteristics are satisfied, the two chaotic fiber lasers are synchronized  相似文献

Electroluminescence (EL) of organic and polymeric fluorescent materials programmable in the luminance is extremely useful as a non‐volatile EL memory with the great potential in the variety of emerging information storage applications for imaging and motion sensors. In this work, a novel non‐volatile EL memory in which arbitrarily chosen EL states are programmed and erased repetitively with long EL retention is demonstrated. The memory is based on utilizing the built‐in electric field arising from the remnant polarization of a ferroelectric polymer which in turn controls the carrier injection of an EL device. A device with vertically stacked components of a transparent bottom electrode/a ferroelectric polymer/a hole injection layer/a light emitting layer/a top electrode successfully emits light upon alternating current (AC) operation. Interestingly, the device exhibits two distinctive non‐volatile EL intensities at constant reading AC voltage, depending upon the programmed direct current (DC) voltage on the ferroelectric layer. DC programmed and AC read EL memories are also realized with different EL colors of red, green and blue. Furthermore, more than four distinguishable EL states are precisely addressed upon the programmed voltage input each of which shows excellent EL retention and multiple cycle endurance of more than 105 s and 102 cycles, respectively.  相似文献
