Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) granules were grafted with methyl acrylate (MA) from the solution containing 10% MA in methanol (86%) solvent and photo initiator (4%) for 10 min and then cured under UV radiation. MA-grafted PET films were prepared at 260°C and 5 ton pressure using heat press. Jute fabric-reinforced, MA-grafted, PET-based composites (25% fiber by weight) were fabricated by compression molding. Mechanical, thermal and soil degradation tests of the composites were performed. It was found that the MA grafted PET composites showed higher mechanical properties over the ungrafted PET/jute composite.  相似文献

Arsenic is a potent environmental pollutant that has caused one of the largest public health poisonings in the history of human civilization, affecting tens of millions of people worldwide especially in Bangladesh. Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in blood plays an important role in predicting cell or organ damage and as an important clue to the diagnosis of a variety of cancers. However, effect of chronic arsenic exposure on the LDH level in blood has not yet been documented. Since the chronic arsenic exposure is associated with organ damages and multi-site cancers, this research aimed at assaying the plasma level of LDH activity in the population who were exposed to arsenic chronically in Bangladesh. A total of 185 individuals living in arsenic-exposed areas and 121 individuals living in non-exposed area in Bangladesh were recruited as study subjects. Arsenic content in drinking water, hair and nails were estimated by Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectroscopy (ICP-MS) and LDH activity was assayed by a spectrophotometer. Significant increase in LDH activity was observed with increasing concentrations of arsenic in water, hair and nails. Further, the study subjects were split into four groups based on the three ways of each exposure metrics (water, hair and nail arsenic concentrations) where the study subjects in the non-exposed area were used as a reference (lowest exposure) group. LDH activity was found to be increased in the higher exposure groups of water and hair arsenic concentrations. LDH activity was also increased at low to medium exposure groups of nail arsenic concentrations.Thus, the elevated plasma LDH activity might be helpful for the early prognosis of organ or tissue damage in the individuals who were exposed to arsenic chronically.  相似文献

Foliar micromorphological features are useful to elucidate the taxonomy and systematics of the Lamiaceae species. Leaf epidermal morphology using scanning electron microscopy and light microscopy of 22 Lamiaceae species from 15 genera have been investigated with an aim to solve its taxonomic problem in the correct identification. Various foliar micromorphological features were observed to explain their importance in resolving the correct identification of Lamiaceae taxa. Two main types of trichomes were observed; glandular trichomes (GTs) and nonglandular trichomes (NGTs). GTs were further divided into seven subtypes including the capitate, subsessile capitate, sessile capitate, sunken, barrel, peltate, and clavate. Similarly, NGTs were also divided into simple unicellular and multicellular including conical, falcate, cylindrical, dendrite, papillose, and short hook shape. Quantitative measurement includes the length and width of the trichomes, stomatal complex, epidermal cells, stomata, and trichomes index. Based on the foliar micromorphological characters, a taxonomic key was developed to delimit and correctly identify studied taxa. Further molecular, other anatomical and phylogenetic studies are recommended to strengthen the systematics of Lamiaceae.  相似文献

Photochemical removal of NO(2) in N(2) or air (5-20% O(2)) mixtures was studied by using 172-nm Xe(2) excimer lamps to develop a new simple photochemical aftertreatment technique of NO(2) in air at atmospheric pressure without using any catalysts. When a high power lamp (300 mW/cm(2)) was used, the conversion of NO(2) (200-1000 ppm) to N(2) and O(2) in N(2) was >93% after 1 min irradiation, whereas that to N(2)O(5), HNO(3), N(2), and O(2) in air (10% O(2)) was 100% after 5s irradiation in a batch system. In a flow system, about 92% of NO(2) (200 ppm) in N(2) was converted to N(2) and O(2), whereas NO(2) (200-400 ppm) in air (20% O(2)) could be completely converted to N(2)O(5), HNO(3), N(2), and O(2) at a flow rate of 1l/min. It was found that NO could also be decomposed to N(2) and O(2) under 172-nm irradiation, though the removal rate is slower than that of NO(2) by a factor of 3.8. A simple model analysis assuming a consecutive reaction NO(2)-->NO-->N+O indicated that 86% of NO(2) is decomposed directly into N+O(2) and the rest is dissociated into NO+O under 172-nm irradiation. These results led us to conclude that the present technique is a new promising catalyst-free photochemical aftertreatment method of NO(2) in N(2) and air in a flow system.  相似文献

The plasma polymerized tetraethylorthosilicate (PPTEOS) thin films were deposited on to glass substrates at room temperature by a parallel plate capacitively coupled glow discharge reactor. The current density-voltage (J-V) characteristics of PPTEOS thin films of different thicknesses have been observed at different temperatures in the voltage region from 0.2 to 15 V. In the J-V curves two slopes were observed — one in the lower voltage region and another in the higher voltage region. The voltage dependence of current density at the higher voltage region indicates that the mechanism of conduction in PPTEOS thin films is space charge limited conduction. The carrier mobility, the free carrier density and the total trap density have been calculated out to be about 2.80 × 10− 15m2V− 1s− 1, 1.50 × 1022m− 3 and 4.16 × 1033m− 3 respectively from the observed data. The activation energies are estimated to be about 0.13 ± 0.05 and 0.46 ± 0.07 eV in the lower and higher temperature regions respectively for an applied voltage of 2 V and 0.09 ± 0.03 and 0.43 ± 0.10 eV in the lower and higher temperature regions respectively for an applied voltage of 14 V. The conduction in PPTEOS may be dominated by hopping of carriers between the localized states at the low temperature and thermally excited carriers from energy levels within the band gap in the vicinity of high temperature.  相似文献

This paper presents adsorption isotherms of R-134a (HFC-134a) on highly porous pitch based activated carbon (Maxsorb III) in the temperature range of 5–70 °C and pressures up to 12 bar, using desorption method. The experimental data have been fitted with the Dubinin–Astakhov (D–A) isotherm equation. The adsorption isotherms of R-134a on Maxsorb III obtained from the present study are compared with the adsorption isotherm results of R-134a on similar type of adsorbents obtained by other researchers and they are found to be fairly consistent. The isosteric heat of adsorption of the assorted adsorbent–refrigerant pair has also been extracted from the present experimental data.  相似文献

Mislabelling in fish products is a highly significant emerging issue in world fish trade in terms of health and economic concerns. DNA barcoding is an efficient sequencing-based tool for detecting fish species substitution but due to DNA degradation, it is in many cases difficult to amplify PCR products of the full-length barcode marker (~650 bp), especially in severely processed products. In the present study, a pair of universal primers targeting a 198 bp sequence of the mitochondrial 16s rRNA gene was designed for identification of fish species in the processed fish products commonly consumed in Malaysia. The specificity of the universal primers was tested by both in-silico studies using bioinformatics software and through cross-reaction assessment by practical PCR experiments against the DNA from 38 fish species and 22 other non-target species (animals and plants) and found to be specific for all the tested fish species. To eliminate the possibility of any false-negative detection, eukaryotic endogenous control was used during specificity evaluation. The developed primer set was validated with various heat-treated (boiled, autoclaved and microwaved) fish samples and was found to show high stability under all processing conditions. The newly developed marker successfully identified 92% of the tested commercial fish products with 96–100% sequence similarities. This study reveals a considerable degree of species mislabelling (20.8%); 5 out of 24 fish products were found to be mislabelled. The new marker developed in this work is a reliable tool to identify fish species even in highly processed products and might be useful in detecting fish species substitution thus protecting consumers’ health and economic interests.  相似文献

The femto-access-point, a low-cost and small-size cellular base-station, is envisioned to be widely deployed in subscribers homes, as to provide high data-rate communications with improved quality of service. As femtocellular networks will co-exist with macrocellular networks, mitigation of the interference between these two network types is a key challenge for successful integration of these two technologies. In particular, there are several interference mechanisms between the femtocellular and the macrocellular networks, and the effects of the resulting interference depend on the density of femtocells and the overlaid macrocells in a particular coverage area. While improper interference management can cause a significant reduction in the system capacity and can increase the outage probability, effective and efficient frequency allocation among femtocells and macrocells can result in a successful co-existence of these two technologies. Furthermore, highly dense femtocellular deployments—the ultimate goal of the femtocellular technology—will require significant degree of self-organization in lieu of manual configuration. In this paper, we present various femtocellular network deployment scenarios, and we propose a number of frequency-allocation schemes to mitigate the interference and to increase the spectral efficiency of the integrated network. These schemes include: shared frequency band, dedicated frequency band, sub-frequency band, static frequency-reuse, and dynamic frequency-reuse. We derive an analytical model, which allows us to analyze in details the users outage probability, and we compare the performance of the proposed schemes using numerical analysis.  相似文献
