Six different lithium bismuth boro-tungstate glasses with chemical composition 20Li2O-(20-x)Bi2O3-xWO3-60B2O3 (x = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 mol%) were produced by the quenching method. Then, the glasses were investigated by means of their optical, mechanical, chemical durability and gamma ray shielding properties. Measured values of density and ultrasonic velocities were used to determine the elastic properties of the glasses. The optical band gap determined using the absorbance spectrum fitting (ASF) model was found to decrease under Bi2O3/WO3 substitution. The presence of BO3, BO4, BiO6, and WO4 structural groups in the glasses was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The dissolution rate in the glass 20Li2O–15Bi2O3–5WO3–60B2O3 (LBWB5) was found to be 10 times lower than 20Li2O-20Bi2O3– 60B2O3. Mass attenuation coefficients (MAC) values of the produced glasses were determined using the MCNPX Monte Carlo code and Phy-X/PSD program. The photon attenuation parameters such as half value layer (HVL), mean free path (MFP), effective atomic number (Zeff), exposure buildup factor (EBF) and energy absorption buildup factor (EABF) were also studied. The obtained results showed that Bi2O3/WO3 substitution has a direct impact on the photon attenuation abilities of produced glasses. More specifically, HVL values increased from 0.252 × 10?2 cm for LBWB0 glass to 0.275 × 10?2 cm for LBWB5 glass. However, different trends were observed for the photon buildup factors for the produced glasses. It can be concluded that the produced glasses have promising structural, optical, and photon attenuation properties to be used for gamma shielding applications.  相似文献

PURPOSE: Following intravesical bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) instillation, we attempted to detect BCG in the blood using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method and correlate these findings with the occurrence of major complications due to this treatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Intravesical BCG immunotherapy was given to 22 consecutive patients with superficial bladder tumors. In 2 patients the BCG instillation had to be discontinued due to serious side effects of therapy. Blood samples (252 aliquots) were obtained from 126 BCG courses in 22 cases, and 2 additional samples (4 aliquots) were obtained from 1 patient 1 and 3 months after cessation of therapy. All blood samples were analyzed by the PCR technique for detection of deoxyribonucleic acid tuberculosis Mycobacterium tuberculosis. RESULTS: Of the 126 blood samples 9 (7.1%) were PCR positive for M. tuberculosis. These 9 positive samples belonged to 3 patients, all of whom were among those 4 patients who had major clinical side effects. CONCLUSIONS: We demonstrated that rapid and sensitive detection of mycobacteremia by PCR correlated with the clinical course of these patients. We also demonstrated that PCR can be used to monitor BCG in the blood after antituberculous therapy. The early, fast and accurate diagnosis of BCG in the blood by PCR may alter the serious clinical course of these patients by initiation of specific treatment early. However, further extensive studies are needed to validate these results.  相似文献

Two casts of type 316L(N) austenitic stainless steel have been solution treated for 1 h at 1070 C, air-cooled, then aged for up to 20 000 h at temperatures between 550 C and 750 C. Grain boundary precipitation of the M23C6 phase occurs, and the Cr composition profile normal to the grain boundaries has been determined at high resolution by an analytical electron microscope. The data have been fitted firstly to collector plate models, which indicated that some of the material was in the process of desensitization, or healing, indicated by a rise in the boundary Cr content. The data were then fitted to a model of the Cr profile as a function of ageing treatment in the healing regime, and a good correlation was obtained.  相似文献

In this work a theoretical analysis is presented for wave propagation ina thin-walled prestressed elastic tube filled with a viscous fluid. Thefluid is assumed to be incompressible and Newtonian, whereas the tubematerial is considered to be incompressible, isotropic and elastic.Considering the physiological conditions that the arteries experience, sucha tube is initially subjected to a mean pressure Pi and anaxial stretch z. If it is assumed that in the course ofblood flow small incremental disturbances are superimposed on this initialfield, then the governing equations of this incremental motion are obtainedfor the fluid and the elastic tube. A harmonic-wave type of solution issought for these field equations and the dispersion relation is obtained.Some special cases, as well as the general case, are discussed and thepresent formulation is compared with some previous works on the samesubject.  相似文献

In many experimental studies, it has been proved that unreinforced masonry (URM) brick walls have high strength against lateral forces acting in plane. However, out-of-plane strength of URM brick walls against lateral forces has found to be quite low. According to the experiences that were obtained from the major earthquakes, the low out-of-plane performance of URM brick walls resulted in excessive loss of human lives during an earthquake, hence the strengthening of URM brick walls with CFRP strips has been appeared to be a very important subject. However, very limited literature has been found. Especially, the data obtained from experimental studies must be increased for the true understanding of the behavior of strengthened brick walls under out-of-plane lateral forces. However, in most cases, this procedure required large number of expensive experiments. At this stage, numerical analysis can be an appropriate choice, thus in this paper a finite element model is presented for modeling URM brick walls that are strengthened with CFRP strips. The numerical results are compared with the experimental ones and consistent results are obtained from the finite element model. General purpose finite element analysis software ANSYS is used throughout this study. Contact elements are used along the masonry wall–CFRP strip interfaces for the investigation of the stress distribution and load – strain behavior.  相似文献

The use of fuzzy set theory in the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) has gained popularity in recent years as part of the multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) process to more realistically reflect human judgment. However, due to the nature of fuzzy calculations, this situation imposes more computational load. The aim of this study is to propose methods for obtaining accurate weights from fuzzy pairwise comparison matrices with the least amount of computational load possible. In this context, two different fuzzy AHP (FAHP) methods based on fuzzy numbers ranking methods have been proposed and these proposed methods are compared with commonly accepted FAHP methods. Magnitude-based fuzzy AHP (MFAHP), which is one of the proposed methods, has outperformed all other methods according to accurate weight and computational load. Although the other proposed method, called the total difference-based fuzzy AHP (TDFAHP), gave better results than the frequently used Chang's fuzzy extent analysis method, it could not produce more accurate weight results than many other methods in general. But performance analysis shows that it is as good as the MFAHP in terms of computational load.  相似文献

We prepared poly(ethylene glycol dimethacrylate–1‐vinyl‐1,2,4‐triazole) [poly(EGDMA–VTAZ)] beads (average diameter = 150–200 μm) by copolymerizing ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) with 1‐vinyl‐1,2,4‐triazole (VTAZ). The copolymer composition was characterized by elemental analysis and found to contain five EGDMA monomer units for each VTAZ monomer unit. The poly(EGDMA–VTAZ) beads had a specific surface area of 65.8 m2/g. Poly(EGDMA–VTAZ) beads were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis, surface area measurements, swelling studies, and scanning electron microscopy. Poly(EGDMA–VTAZ) beads with a swelling ratio of 84% were used for the heavy‐metal removal studies. The adsorption capacities of the beads for Cd(II), Hg(II), and Pb(II) were investigated in aqueous media containing different amounts of these ions (5–750 mg/L) and at different pH values (3.0–7.0). The maximum adsorption capacities of the poly(EGDMA–VTAZ) beads were 85.7 mg/g (0.76 mmol/g) for Cd(II), 134.9 mg/g (0.65 mmol/g) for Pb(II), and 186.5 mg/g (0.93 mmol/g) for Hg(II). The affinity order toward triazole groups on a molar basis was observed as follows: Hg(II) > Cd(II) > Pb(II). pH significantly affected the adsorption capacity of the VTAZ‐incorporated beads. The equilibrium data were well fitted to the Redlich–Peterson isotherm. Consideration of the kinetic data suggested that chemisorption processes could have been the rate‐limiting step in the adsorption process. Amidoxime resins were derived from poly(acrylonitrile-co-vinylidene chloride-co-divinyl-benzene) beads, which were prepared by suspension polymerization of the ternary monomeric mixtures in the presence of 4-methyl-2-pentanone (MIBK) or 1,2-dichloroethane (DCE) as the diluent (porogen), in order to clarify the effect of copolymerized vinylidene chloride on properties of the resulting amidoxime resins. Pore structure analyses of the copolymers as well as of their amidoximated derivatives clarified that MIBK yields larger pores than does DCE and then the latter gives larger specific surface areas than does the former. On the other hand, chemical properties of the amidoximated resins, such as anionexchange capacities and uranyl ion uptake, were not eseentially affected by the diluent species, indicating that both MIBK and DCE as the porogen lead to the amidoxime resins with almost the same ability in recovery of uranium from sea water. The uranium recovery decreased with increase in the vinylidene chloride content, but the decrease in the recovery was minor up to the 10 mol % of vinylidene chloride. It was also clarified that the uranium recovery by the amidoxime resins containing vinylidene chloride is greatly enhanced by the alkali treatment. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献
