The Akashi Kaikyo (Strait) Bridge, one of the major bridges of the Honshu-Shikoku bridge network connecting the main island and the Shikoku island, is the world's longest suspension bridge with a center span of about 2,000 m. The bridge was constructed over the Akashi Strait and opened to traffic in 1998 after a construction period of about 10 years. The granite stratum in the Akashi Strait was very deep, while the granite stratum provides the foundations for the other long span bridges which have been constructed in Japan. Three of the four foundations had to be constructed on either a weakly cemented gravelly soil deposit or a sedimentary soft rock layer. The geological structure was carefully investigated and the geotechnical properties, in particular the strength and deformation characteristics of these geomaterial types, were carefully evaluated. To this end, a comprehensive series of advanced triaxial compression (TC) tests were performed on rotary core tube samples of sedimentary soft rock after it was found that the due design was not possible based on unconfined compression tests. Both CD and CU TC tests and cyclic undrained triaxial tests were performed on rotary core tube samples (30 cm in dia.) of the gravelly soil. Based on the data, the long-term and seismic stabilities of the foundations were evaluated. The importance of strain- and pressure-dependent nonlinear stress-strain behaviour at small strains, as well as accurate strain measurements in the laboratory stress-strain tests, was confirmed by analyzing the full-scale behaviour of the foundation during and after construction and comparing the back-calculated stiffness values with those obtained from laboratory stress-strain tests, pressure-meter tests, plate loading tests and field shear wave velocity measurements.  相似文献

We investigated the mechanical and physical characteristics of composites composed of polyacetal [alternatively called polyoxymethylene (POM)] and cellulose fiber (CelF) derived from wood pulp [10–52 wt % (9.3–50.1 vol %)] without any fiber surface treatment. The modulus, deflection temperature under load, and thermal conduction coefficient of the POM/CelF composites were effectively enhanced with increasing CelF content, and the composites had an advantage of specific modulus compared to glass fiber (GF)‐filled POM. The flexural modulus of POM/CelF 40 wt % (38.2 vol %) was measured to be about 6 GPa, which was comparable to that of POM/GF 20 wt % (12.1 vol %). In the composites, the CelFs were distributed randomly as monofilaments, and the debonding of the interface between the fibers and POM matrices in the fracture faces was confirmed as less by scanning electron microscopy observation. The POM/CelF composites possessed lower specific wear rates than the POM/GF composites, and they had damping behaviors near that of neat POM. No clear dependence of the melt flow index of the base POM on these characteristics was observed, except on Charpy impact strength. The composites studied here were unique in their performance and ability to be designed in accordance with specific demands, and they could be potential replacements for mineral‐filled and GF‐filled POM composites. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. To aim to obtain more stable solutions and wider area applications for the Time Domain Boundary Element Method (TDBEM), initial value problem formulation of the TDBEM is newly introduced for microwave simulations. The initial value problem formulation of the TDBEM allows us to solve transient microwave phenomena as interior region problems, which gives us well matrix property and interior resonance free solutions. This paper concentrates on applying the initial value problem formulation of the TDBEM to wake field phenomena in particle accelerator cavities.  相似文献

New π-conjugated polymers with dibenzo[d,d′]benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b′]difuran (DBBDF) unit in the main chains were synthesized. Copolymerization of 6,12-diiodo-DBBDF with p-diethynylbenzene or 2,7-diethynylfluorene derivative under Sonogashira–Hagiwara coupling-reaction condition gave the corresponding copolymer. The resulting copolymers were soluble in organic solvents such as tetrahydrofuran and chloroform. In UV–vis absorption spectra, both copolymers showed red-shifted spectra compared to their monomer units. In the chloroform solutions, the copolymer with DBBDF and p-diethynylbenzene units showed yellowish-green emission, while the copolymer with DBBDF and 2,7-diethynylfluorene units did greenish-blue emission.  相似文献

A Japanese man, who had undergone a subtotal esophagectomy reconstructed with a gastric tube through an antesternal route for esophageal carcinoma 16 years previously, was admitted to our hospital because of an abdominal incisional hernia. The abdominal incisional hernia was in his upper abdomen and was difficult to push back into the intraabdominal cavity by hand. The hernia was successfully repaired by operation. We thus conclude that an abdominal incisional hernia is a rare but important late-phase complication occurring after an esophagectomy reconstructed with either an antesternal or retrosternal route, and an operation should be the treatment of choice.  相似文献

We have examined the preparation of transparent alumina film and CdS-doped alumina film prepared by the sol-gel process using aqueous sol starting from AlCl3. The resulting alumina films obtained by sol-gel transformation are transparent in the visible and near infrared up to 1000 °C. Homogeneous solution of alumina sol and Cd(CH3COO)2 was converted into gel film by dehydration. Then, on exposure to H2S stream at 250–600 °C, a CdS-doped film was obtained. It shows relatively sharp blue-shifted visible absorption that is attributed to size quantization effect. Large nonlinear absorption and refractive index have been obtained, because high concentration of CdS particles can be achieved by using this method.  相似文献

Highly dispersed ternary PtRuRh/C anode catalysts for direct methanol fuel cells were prepared with various contents and their electro-catalytic activities towards methanol oxidation at 25 °C and 60 °C were examined to investigate the influence of the catalyst composition. Electrocatalysts were prepared by a co-impregnation method using ethanolic solutions of metal precursors and carbon black followed by pyrolysis under reducing conditions. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the fcc peaks shifted to higher diffraction angles with increasing Rh content, indicating the alloying of Rh into the fcc structure. In terms of the mass specific current density, the activity towards methanol oxidation differed significantly depending on the catalysts composition and cell temperature. The catalyst prepared at a ratio of Pt:Ru:Rh = 1:1:2 exhibited the highest activity at 60 °C of 155 A (g-Pt)−1 at 0.5 V vs. RHE.  相似文献

Conversion characteristics of a Victorian brown coal in sub-critical water were investigated. Pulverized brown coal was heated up to 623 K in flowing sub-critical water pressurized at 25 MPa. The total conversion of the coal into extract and non-condensable gas reached over 70 wt%-daf, which was appreciably higher than the maximum conversion (50 wt%-daf) with a sub-critical non-hydrogen donor solvent, 1-methylnaphthalene (MN). Laser-ionization-desorption mass spectrometry showed that the sub-critical water extract was richer in lower-molecular-mass compounds than the sub-critical MN one. Thus, degradation of the coal occurred more extensively in sub-critical water than in MN. Along with the conversion in sub-critical water, both the total contents of hydrogen and phenolic hydroxyls in the whole products remained nearly unchanged. This suggests comparable and simultaneous formation and decomposition of hydroxyls through hydrolysis of ethers/esters and dehydration condensation between hydroxyls/carboxyls, respectively. For detecting the hydroxyl formation, the coal was first heated at 623 K under an inert gas atmosphere until the formation of water and the other volatiles was completed. Then, the heat-treated coal (LY-H) was exposed to flowing sub-critical water. As expected, the net formation of phenolic hydroxyls from LY-H was detected as 0.8 mmol-OH/g-LY-H while that of hydrogen as 2.3 mmol-H/g-LY-H. Approximately a half of the hydrogen gain was explained as phenolic hydroxyls gain, suggesting the importance of hydrolysis of esters and ethers that formed carboxyls and alcoholic hydroxyls as well as phenolic hydroxyls.  相似文献

We have demonstrated, for the first time, the highly nondegenerate four-wave mixing (FWM) among subpicosecond optical pulses in a 1.3-μm multiple-quantum-well (MQW) semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA). We could directly measure the FWM signal in the output spectrum by current pulse pumping of the device. We achieved a high conversion efficiency of over 10% at a frequency conversion range of less than 1 THz. The limitation of conversion efficiency due to the gain saturation of the SOA was effectively overcome by using the short optical pulses  相似文献
