This paper presents an evaluation method for the fiber/matrix interfacial strength. The interfacial strength is determined by comparing experimental data with numerical simulations. The micro-droplet test is conducted, and the fiber axial stress at the point of interface debonding is obtained. A numerical simulation is performed with ABAQUS using an axisymmetric finite-element model. In the numerical simulation, an accurate value of the thermal residual stress based on the thermo-viscoelasticity and the damage to the resin around the blade-contacting point is considered to simulate the experimental phenomena ideally. In the thermal residual stress analysis, the actual thermal residual stress is calculated by considering the relaxation modulus and the time–temperature superposition principle for the resin. Damage initiation criteria for both dilatational and shear cases, based on continuum damage mechanics, are considered for the resin. Interfacial debonding is simulated using a cohesive zone model, and the interfacial strength is taken as the strength of the cohesive zone element at the simulated fiber maximum stress corresponding to the experimental value.  相似文献

Mixed Ruddlesden–Popper (RP) perovskites are of great interest in light‐emitting diodes (LEDs), due to the efficient energy transfer (funneling) from high‐bandgap (donor) domains to low‐bandgap (acceptor) domains, which leads to enhanced photoluminescence (PL) intensity, long PL lifetime, and high‐efficiency LEDs. However, the influence of reduced effective emitter centers in the active emissive film, as well as the implications of electrical injection into the larger bandgap donor material, have not been addressed in the context of an active device. The electrical and optical signatures of the energy cascading mechanisms are critically assessed and modulated in a model RP perovskite series ((C8H17NH3)2(CH(NH2)2)m?1PbmBr3m+1). Optimized devices demonstrate a current efficiency of 22.9 cd A?1 and 5% external quantum efficiency, more than five times higher than systems where funneling is absent. The signature of nonideal funneling in RP perovskites is revealed by the appearance of donor electroluminescence from the device, followed by a reduction in the LED performance  相似文献

It has been widely recognized that although ionic liquids should be colorless, they are frequently not. Colored samples appear to be pure by most analytical techniques (e.g., NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, HPLC, and ion chromatography), and there have been many attempts to identify the source of color in our own laboratories and others-after 20 years the best that can be said is that the impurities are at a very low level (probably parts per billion) with very high molar extinction coefficients. In this paper, we do not identify these impurities but describe a practical method for removing them for spectrochemical applications. We clearly note that the method is not "green", but we anticipate that it will only be applied to the small volumes of ionic liquids required for fundamental spectroscopic studies in academia but not in industrial processes.  相似文献

Longitudinal intrafascicular electrodes (LIFEs) are electrodes designed to be placed inside the peripheral nerve to improve stimulation selectivity and to increase the recording signal-to-noise ratio. We evaluated the functional and morphological effects of either Pt wire LIFEs or polyimide-based thin-film LIFEs implanted in the rat sciatic nerve for 3 mo. The newly designed thin-film LIFEs are more flexible, can be micromachined and allow placement of more active electrode sites than conventional Pt LIFEs. Functional results at 1 mo indicated an initial decline in the nerve conduction velocity and in the amplitude of muscle responses, which recovered during the following 2 mo towards normal values. Morphological results showed that both types of LIFEs induced a mild scar response and a focal but chronic inflammatory reaction, which were limited to a small area around the electrode placed in the nerve. Both types of LIFEs can be considered biocompatible and cause reversible, minimal nerve damage.  相似文献

A series of unsaturated soil triaxial tests were performed on four soils including sand, silt, and a low plasticity clay. Attempts were made to correlate unsaturated soil properties from these tests and data from the literature with soil-water characteristics curve (SWCC), soil gradation, and saturated soil properties. The feasibility of estimating unsaturated soil property functions from saturated soil properties, SWCCs and gradation data, is demonstrated. A hyperbolic model for estimation of the unsaturated soil parameter, ?b, versus matric suction is presented. Shear induced volume change behavior was also studied, and results are included in this paper. Although not correlated with soil index properties, these shear-induced volume change data are important to complete stress-deformation analyses, and represent a significant addition to the existing data base of unsaturated soil properties.  相似文献

This article examines whether longitudinal reading trajectories vary by the generational status of immigrant children as they begin formal schooling through the 3rd grade. The results of the hierarchical linear model indicated that 1st and 2nd generation children (i.e., those born in a foreign country and those born in the United States to foreign-born parents, respectively) had higher achievement scores at the spring of kindergarten than did 3rd generation children. Yet, controlling for race/ethnicity and maternal education fully reduced the 1st generation advantage. In addition, 1st generation children grew in reading achievement at a faster rate than did 3rd generation children. Controlling for a host of proximal and distal factors that included demographic, race/ethnic, family, and school characteristics somewhat reduced the association between generational status and rate of growth. First and 2nd generation children continued to increase their reading scores at a faster rate than did 3rd generation children. It is likely that additional factors not measured in the Early Childhood Longitudinal Survey-Kindergarten cohort, such as selection, cultural, or motivational factors, would be useful in further explaining the immigrant advantage. Computer simulations of electrical behaviour in the whole ventricles have become commonplace during the last few years. The goals of this article are (i) to review the techniques that are currently employed to model cardiac electrical activity in the heart, discussing the strengths and weaknesses of the various approaches, and (ii) to implement a novel modelling approach, based on physiological reasoning, that lifts some of the restrictions imposed by current state-of-the-art ionic models. To illustrate the latter approach, the present study uses a recently developed ionic model of the ventricular myocyte that incorporates an excitation-contraction coupling and mitochondrial energetics model. A paradigm to bridge the vastly disparate spatial and temporal scales, from subcellular processes to the entire organ, and from sub-microseconds to minutes, is presented. Achieving sufficient computational efficiency is the key to success in the quest to develop multiscale realistic models that are expected to lead to better understanding of the mechanisms of arrhythmia induction following failure at the organelle level, and ultimately to the development of novel therapeutic applications.  相似文献

Black Sea molluscs and gastropods are the most studied organisms from the Romanian littoral zone. In particular, those from the Mytilidae species are of great interest because biochemical investigations have shown that they can be sources of biological active substances which can have different applications (e.g. food additives). We report here the extraction of lipids from two different species of molluscs (Mytilus galloprovincialis L., Mediterranean mussel) and gastropods (Rapana venosa, hard-shell clam). The extracts were evaluated in terms of antioxidant and composition properties and their healing properties were tested on skin burns in Wistar rats. Our studies proved that the two lipid extracts contained a relatively complex distribution of compounds, in terms of characteristic indices, polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) and vitamins E and D. The presence of such compounds rendered the extracts very efficient in healing induced skin burns in Wistar rats. The histological analysis showed a reduction in the time of healing (12-13 and 13-15 days for the Mytilus galloprovincialis (L.) Rapana venosa extracts, respectively) compared to 20-22 for untreated animals, based on results from tissues and blood samples. Our investigations have been proved to be promising in terms of future potential applications of the extracts as skin-care products, cosmetics and/or pharmaceutical preparations owing to their dermorestitutive properties.  相似文献

Mitochondrial cytochrome P450 enzymes (CYP or P450, EC 1.14.13.15) play an important role in metabolism of cholesterol. CYP27A1 hydroxylates cholesterol at position 27 and, thus, initiates cholesterol removal from many extrahepatic tissues. CYP11A1 is a steroidogenic P450 that converts cholesterol to pregnenolone, the first step in the biosynthesis of all steroid hormones. We utilized a new approach to study membrane topology of CYPs 27A1 and 11A1. This approach involves heterologous expression of membrane-bound P450 in E. coli, isolation of the P450-containing E. coli membranes, treatment of the membranes with protease, removal of the digested soluble portion and extraction of the membrane-associated peptides, which are then identified by mass spectrometry. By using this approach, we found four membrane-interacting peptides in CYP27A1, and two peptides in CYP11A1. Peptides in CYP27A1 represent a contiguous portion of the polypeptide chain (residues 210–251) corresponding to the putative F-G loop and adjacent portions of the F and G helices. Peptides in CYP11A1 are from the putative F-G loop (residues 218–225) and the C-terminal portion of the G helix (residues 238–250). This data is consistent with those obtained previously by us and others and provide new information about the membrane topology of CYPs 27A1 and 11A1.  相似文献

The present study reveals the utility of high-performance thin-layer chromatographic (HPTLC) fingerprinting of phenolic constituents for the authentication of monofloral honeys. The obtained data enables a more complete assessment of honey quality and the identification of emerging threats to honey quality. The developed procedure facilitates differentiation of varietal honeys and detection of honey adulterations. We used an HPTLC fingerprint analysis to determine the characteristic patterns of different honey types (willow, buckwheat, heather, pine honeydew, and manuka honey). The HPTLC chromatograms were used to determine the differences in the botanical origin of the honey samples on the basis of the band profiles, which are characteristic for each honey type. Identification of 11 polyphenols was performed by comparison of the color and Rf of the bands with available standards. Additionally, the results were confirmed by an HPLC analysis.  相似文献
