Theranostic approach provides us a platform where diagnosis and treatment can be carried out simultaneously. Biosynthesis of theranostic‐capable nanoparticles (NPs) can be carried out by phytoconstituents present inside the plants that can act as capping as well as stabilising agents by offering several advantages over chemical and physical methods. This article highlights the theranostic role of NPs with emphasis on potential of plants to produce these NPs through ecofriendly approach that is called ‘Green synthesis’. Biosynthesis, advantages, and disadvantages of plant‐based theronostics have been discussed for better understanding. Moreover, this article has highlighted the approaches required to optimise the plant‐mediated synthesis of NPs and to avoid the toxicity of these agents. Global e-readiness—for what? Readiness for e-banking   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
With the rapid diffusion of the Internet worldwide, there has been considerable interest in the e-potentials of developing countries giving rise to a first generation of e-readiness studies. Moreover, e-readiness means different things to different people, in different contexts, and for different purposes. Despite strong merits, this first generation of e-readiness studies assumed a fixed, one-size-fits-all set of requirements, regardless of the characteristics of individual countries, the investment context, or the demands of specific applications. This feature obscures critical information for investors or policy analysts seeking to reduce uncertainties and make educated decisions. But there is very little known about e-readiness for e-banking. In particular, based on lessons learned to date and their implications for emerging realities of the 21st century, the authors designed and executed a research project with theoretical as well as practical dimensions to answer the question of “e-Readiness for What?,” focusing specifically on e-banking, based on the very assumption that one size can seldom, if ever, fit all. The authors also propose and develop a conceptual framework for the “next generation” e-readiness—focusing on different e-business applications in different economic contexts with potentially different pathways—as well as a data model—to explore e-readiness for e-banking in 10 countries. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

High metal contamination in toys and low-cost jewelry is a widespread problem, and metals can become bioavailable, especially via oral pathway due to common child-specific behaviors of mouthing and pica. In this review, the U.S., Canadian, and European Union (EU) legislations on metals in toys and jewelry are evaluated. A literature review on content, bioavailability, children's exposure, and testing of metals in toys and low-cost jewelry is provided. A list of priority metals is presented, and research needs and legislative recommendations are addressed. While the U.S. and Canadian legislations put emphasis on lead exposure prevention, other toxic elements like arsenic and cadmium in toy materials are not regulated except in paint and coatings. The EU legislation is more comprehensive in terms of contaminants and scientific approach. Current toy testing procedures do not fully consider metal bioavailability. In vitro bioaccessibility tests developed and validated for toys and corresponding metal bioaccessibility data in different toy matrices are lacking. The U.S. and Canadian legislations should put more emphasis on metal bioavailability and on other metals in addition to lead. A two-step management approach with mandatory testing of toys for total metal concentrations followed by voluntary bioaccessibility testing could be implemented.  相似文献

In this study, a comprehensive performance analysis of a transportation system powered by a PEM fuel cell engine system is conducted thermodynamically both through energy and exergy approaches. This system includes system components such as a compressor, humidifiers, pressure regulator, cooling system and the fuel cell stack. The polarization curves are studied in the modeling and compared with the actual data taken from the literature works before proceeding to the performance modeling. The system performance is investigated through parametric studies on energy, exergy and work output values by changing operating temperature, operating pressure, membrane thickness, anode stoichiometry, cathode stoichiometry, humidity, reference temperature and reference pressure. The results show that the exergy efficiency increases with increase of temperature from 323 to 353 K by about 8%, pressure from 2.5 to 4 atm by about 5%, humidity from 97% to 80% by about 10%, and reference state temperature from 253 to 323 K by about 3%, respectively. In addition, the exergy efficiency increases with decrease of membrane thickness from 0.02 to 0.005 mm by about 9%, anode stoichiometry from 3 to 1.1 by about 1%, and cathode stoichiometry from 3 to 1.1 by about 35% respectively.  相似文献

Abstract

Clinical trials have indicated conflicting results on the effects of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) on obesity. The present study aimed to systematically review controlled clinical trials examining the effects of CLA on anthropometric indices and body composition in overweight and obese subjects. Pubmed, Scopus, Web of science, and Cochrane databases were searched between 2000 and December 2017 with no language restriction. Placebo-controlled clinical trials that reported anthropometric indices and body composition in overweight and obese subjects were included. Random-effect model was used to pool the effect estimates. Of 4032 publications, 13 trials were included for the meta-analysis. Pooled effect sizes indicated that CLA significantly reduced body weight (WMD: ?0.52 kg, 95% CI: ?0.83, ?0.21; I2: 48.0%, p?=?0.01), BMI (WMD: ?0.23 kg/m2, 95% CI: ?0.39,???0.06; I2: 64.7%, p?=?0.0001), FM (WMD: ?0.61 kg, 95% CI: ?0.98, ?0.24; I2: 53.8%, p?=?0.01) and increased LBM (WMD: 0.19 kg, 95% CI: 0.04, 0.34; I2: 81.4%, p?=?0.0001) compared to the placebo group. However, the effects of CLA on WC (WMD: 0.05 cm, 95% CI: ?0.01, 0.1; I2: 0%, p?=?0.93) was not significant. Additionally, its impact on body weight in subjects older than 44 year (WMD: ?1.05 kg, 95% CI: ?1.75, ?0.35; I2: 57.0%, p?=?0.01), with longer duration (more than 12 weeks) (WMD: ?1.29 kg, 95% CI: ?2.29, ?0.29; I2: 70.3%, p?=?0.003) and dosage more than 3.4 g/day (WMD: ?0.77 kg, 95% CI: ?1.28, ?0.25; I2: 62.7%, p?=?0.004) were greater than comparative groups. Supplementation with CLA can slightly reduce body weight and FM and increase LBM in overweight and obese subjects. However, its efficacy was not clinically considerable. Further studies with high methodological quality are needed to shed light on the effects of CLA on anthropometric indices in overweight and obese subjects.  相似文献

Effects of nisin and lysozyme on growth inhibition and biofilm formation capacity of 25 Staphylococcus aureus strains isolated from raw milk (13 strains) and cheese (12 strains) were studied. Nisin was tested at concentrations between 0.5 and 25 μg/ml; the growth of all strains was inhibited at 25 μg/ml, but the resistances of strains showed a great variation at lower nisin concentrations. In contrast, lysozyme tested at concentrations up to 5.0 mg/ml showed no inhibition on the growth of strains. Nisin used at the growth inhibitory concentration prevented the biofilm formation of strains, but strains continued biofilm formation at subinhibitory nisin concentrations. Lysozyme did not affect the biofilm formation of 19 of the strains, but it caused a considerable activation in the biofilm formation capacity of six strains. Twelve of the strains contained both biofilm-related protease genes (sspA, sspB, and aur) and active proteases; eight of these strains were nisin resistant. These results suggest a potential risk of S. aureus growth and biofilm formation when lysozyme is used in the biopreservation of dairy products. Nisin can be used to control growth and biofilm formation of foodborne S. aureus, unless resistance against this biopreservative develops.  相似文献
