IR imaging using uncooled microcantilever detectors 总被引:12,自引:0,他引:12
Uncooled bimaterial microcantilever detectors were fabricated and used to obtain infrared (IR) images of objects at temperatures ranging from room temperature to a few hundred degrees C. Images were obtained using both single 50 micro m x 50 micro m microcantilever IR detectors and arrays of microcantilever detectors. Thermal radiation from the target object was imaged onto the detector and the resulting temperature change caused microcantilever bending due to the bimaterial effect. This micromechanical bending was measured using two different non-contact optical readout techniques and IR images were obtained. A smaller size (20 micro m x 20 micro m) microcantilever IR detector was also used to capture IR images of near room temperature objects. 相似文献

Coenzyme A (CoA) thioesters are formed during anabolic and catabolic reactions in every organism. Degradation pathways of growth-supporting substrates in bacteria can be predicted by differential proteogenomic studies. Direct detection of proposed metabolites such as CoA thioesters by high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with high-resolution mass spectrometry can confirm the reaction sequence and demonstrate the activity of these degradation pathways. In the metabolomes of the anaerobic sulfate-reducing bacterium Desulfobacula toluolica Tol2T grown with different substrates various CoA thioesters, derived from amino acid, fatty acid or alcohol metabolism, have been detected. Additionally, the cell extracts of this bacterium revealed a number of CoA analogues with molecular masses increased by 1 dalton. By comparing the chromatographic and mass spectrometric properties of synthetic reference standards with those of compounds detected in cell extracts of D. toluolica Tol2T and by performing co-injection experiments, these analogues were identified as inosino-CoAs. These CoA thioesters contain inosine instead of adenosine as the nucleoside. To the best of our knowledge, this finding represents the first detection of naturally occurring inosino-CoA analogues. 相似文献

We report on a new method for detecting photons using the stress caused by photoelectrons emitted from a metal film surface in contact with a semiconductor microstructure which forms a Schottky barrier. The detection of photons results from measuring the photo-induced bending of the Schottky barrier microstructure due to electronic stress produced by photoelectrons diffusing into the microstructure. Internal photoemission has been used in the past to detect photons, however, in those cases the detection was accomplished by measuring the current due to photoelectrons and not due to electronic stress. In this work we studied the photon response of 500 nm thick Si microcantilevers coated with a 30 nm layer of Pt. Photons with sufficient energies produce electrons from the platinum-silicon interface which diffuse into the Si and produce an electronic stress. Since the excess charge carriers cause the Si microcantilever to contract in length but not the Pt layer, the bimaterial microcantilever bends. The charge carriers responsible for the photo-induced stress in Si, were produced via internal photoemission using a diode laser with wavelength lambda = 1550 nm. 相似文献

Thermoelastic stress analysis (TSA) has been around for the past 30 years, but to date, it is still a very much underrated and under‐utilised experimental technique. Although there are devoted groups of practitioners in some industries, this technology is not well known within the aerospace sector. In contrast, the Aerospace Division of the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) in Australia has been in the forefront of this technology for some time, achieving many pioneering feats. This paper gives a brief introduction to the development of this technology from a historical perspective, then focuses on a number of innovations that have stemmed from DSTO, including the development and application of the world's first focal plane array based TSA system and, more recently, the development of small and robust microbolometer based systems. For the latter, it is shown that despite nominally poorer temperature sensitivities, they make ideal TSA devices and can in some cases outperform their much more expensive photon detector counterparts. Because of this, together with the enormous practical advantages of microbolometers, the future of TSA is shown to be brighter than ever. Specifically, it is argued that such TSA systems can play a major role in the pervasive and persistent surveillance of full scale fatigue testing of aircraft structures. By detecting both design and developing faults early, it can effectively relieve cost and schedule penalties that are often associated with unanticipated failures. To realise this capability, integration of this technology with autonomous systems will be important, and some preliminary but promising results from a technology demonstrator program are presented. 相似文献

In this paper the effect of operating parameters on biotrickling filter performance degrading chlorobenzene and o-dichlorobenzene mixture were studied. The large laboratory scale biofilter, total volume 40 L, filled with inert packing material was used. The biomass adaptation and cultivation were performed in a batch fermentor and were used to inoculate the biotrickling filter. After a starting period, the influence of the substrate load increase, liquid recirculation flow rate, and empty bed retention time on elimination capacity and removal efficiency were found. The most important recirculation liquid parameters were analyzed every day, that is: concentration of metabolites, dissolved organic carbon, nitrate, chloride, and biomass. A good correlation was found between intermediate concentration and the removal efficiency of the biotrickling filter. The measurements of the absorbance, very easy and rapid, can be used as a control parameter of the biofiltration efficiency. 相似文献

A practical solution is proposed, based on bibliometric data of the research output and relying on two criteria: the extent of coverage by world significant secondary literature and the extent of scatter of that literature. Periodic photonic crystal structures channel electromagnetic waves much as semiconductors/quantum wells channel electrons. Photonic bandgap crystals (PBC) are fabricated by arranging sub-wavelength alternating materials with high and low dielectric constants to produce a desired effective bandgap. Photons with energy within this bandgap cannot propagate through the structure. This property has made these structures useful for microwave applications such as frequency-selective surfaces, narrowband filters, and antenna substrates when the dimensions are on the order of millimeters. They are also potentially very useful, albeit much more difficult to fabricate, in the visible/near-infrared region for various applications when the smallest dimensions are at the edge of current micro-lithography fabrication tools. We micro-fabricated suspended free standing micro-structure bridge waveguides to serve as substrates for PBC features. These micro-bridges were fabricated onto commercial silicon-on-insulator wafers. Nanoscale periodic features were fabricated onto these micro-structure bridges to form a tunable system. When this combined structure is perturbed, such as mechanical deflection of the suspended composite structure at resonance, there can be a realtime shift in the material effective bandgap due to slight geometric alterations due to the induced mechanical stress. The effects of nimodipine, a calcium channel blocker, on noise-induced hearing loss were examined in gerbils. Animals were implanted subcutaneously with a timed-release pellet containing either nimodipine (approximately 10 mg/kg/day) or placebo and exposed to either 102 or 107 dBA noise. Serum levels were tested in two subjects and were in the range known to protect humans from cerebral artery vasospasm and ischemia-related neurologic deficits. Nimodipine and control groups had similar amounts of noise-induced (a) permanent threshold shift; (b) reductions in distortion product otoacoustic emissions; (c) reductions in tuning and suppression of the compound action potential; and (d) loss of outer hair cells. The results suggest that nimodipine, at a dose which results in clinically relevant serum levels, does not provide protection from the effects of moderately intense noise exposures. 相似文献

This paper analyzes failure causes of the combat jet aircraft rudder shaft (RS) which occurred during the flight mission. A finite element method (FEM), utilized to determine the stress state of the RS subjected to hinge moment ultimate load, resulted in the high stress concentration sites around the rivet holes. The longitudinal crack was initiated from the corrosion pit in the zone of the rivet hole, where the fatigue beach marks were observed. The inner surface of the RS was heavily corroded. Moreover, pitting corrosion has destroyed approximately 50% of the wall thickness. Based on the presented results it was concluded that the failure of the RS had a character of fatigue combined with heavy corrosion. Therefore, it is recommended that the RS should be redesigned; the material changed into more corrosion resistant one and the maintenance procedure changed in order to avoid future similar failures. 相似文献

In this essentially empirical study a comparative analysis of the age of references in scientific papers in three subject fields is performed. Comparisons are made: 1. among national and leading journals in the same scientific field, 2. for a number of high quality journals in physics and chemistry, and 3. between several groups of authors (according to the countries of origin), contributing to the same journals in chemistry. Variations found in the journals citing half-life values suggest that, if properly interpreted, the citing half-life might reflect the journal's quality and might serve as a certain indicator for the citing practices of specific groups of authors. 相似文献
