A post trip operational guidance system (PTOG) for BWR power plants was developed to support the operators in achieving safe plant shutdown after a scram. The objective of PTOG is to support the operators in collecting plant information, in diagnosing plant status and in deciding corrective actions. To achieve this objective, PTOG has three main functions, i.e., the diagnosis of plant subsystems performance, the identification of safety functions status and the dynamic synthesis of operating procedures. The main advantage of PTOG is that it provides operating procedures irrespective of the transient's initiating event and evolutional history. The results of verification and validation tests showed that PTOG was a useful, effective and trustworthy vehicle in coping with abnormal plant conditions.  相似文献

Caffeine is known to stimulate gastric acid secretion, but, the effects of caffeine on gastric mucus secretion have not been clarified. To elucidate the action of caffeine on gastric mucin-producing cells and its underlying mechanism, the effects of caffeine on mucus glycoprotein secretion and agonist-induced [Ca2+]i mobilization were examined in human gastric mucin secreting cells (JR-I cells). The measurement of [Ca2+]i using Indo-1 and the whole cell voltage clamp technique were applied. Mucus glycoprotein secretion was assessed by release of [3H]glucosamine. Caffeine by itself failed to increase [Ca2+]i and affect membrane currents, while it dose-dependently inhibited agonist (acetylcholine (ACh) or histamine)-induced [Ca2+]i rise, resulting in inhibiting activation of Ca2+-dependent K+ current (I(K.Ca)) evoked by agonists. The effect of caffeine was reversible, and the half maximal inhibitory concentration was about 0.5 mM. But, caffeine did not suppress [Ca2+]i rise and activation of I(K.Ca) induced by A23187 or inositol trisphosphate (IP3). Theophylline or 3-isobutyl-1-methyl-xanthine (IBMX) did not mimic the effect of caffeine. Caffeine failed to stimulate mucus secretion, while it significantly decreased ACh-induced mucus secretion. These results indicate that caffeine selectively inhibits agonist-mediated [Ca2+]i rise in human gastric epithelial cells, probably through the blockade of receptor-IP3 signaling pathway, which may affect the mucin secretion.  相似文献

This research relates to the application of a reinforced concrete containment vessel (RCCV) whose form can be freely selected to the development of an advanced BWR. The researchers on RCCVs are carried out recently, and good results are obtained. The RCCV employed in this research is different from conventional ones in structural elements and form. The purpose of this research is, therefore, to confirm the adequacy and reliability of the design method of the trial-designed RCCV, and to confirm the ultimate strengt and constructibleness. Basic, partial model and total model experiments were conducted.As a result of experimental and analytical studies, it was made sure that the trial-designed RCCV is safe and reliable at a design-load level. It was also confirmed that its ultimate strength fully ensures structural performance. Realizability was confirmed from consideration of the adequacy of the design method and constructibleness.This paper describes the results of the total model experiments planned for these researches.  相似文献

The effect of leukotrienes C4 (LTC4) and D4 (LTD4) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) on mucociliary clearance of the eustachian tube was investigated in vitro and in vivo. Normal ciliated epithelium was obtained from the eustachian tube of guinea pigs and incubated separately with LTC4, LTD4, and PGE2 at concentrations of 10(-8) mol/L and 10(-6) mol/L. Ciliary activity was measured photoelectrically. Leukotriene D4 progressively inhibited ciliary activity, while PGE2 promoted it. Leukotriene C4 also induced ciliary inhibition. One milliliter each of 10(-5) mol/L LTC4, LTD4, and PGE2 was directly injected into the tympanic bullae of chinchillas under anesthesia. The middle ears were examined by otomicroscopy, tympanometry, and auditory brain stem response over time. Clearance of middle ear effusion was delayed by LTC4 and LTD4, as compared with PGE2 and the control. These findings indicate that LTC4 and LTD4 inhibit mucociliary clearance of the eustachian tube.  相似文献

Lymphocyte development requires the assembly of antigen receptor genes through the specialized process of V(D)J recombination. This process is initiated by cleavage at the junction between coding segments (V, D, and J) and the recombination signal sequences that border these segments, resulting in generation of double-strand break intermediates. We have used a two-dimensional gel system to characterize broken molecules arising from V(D)J recombination at the T-cell receptor (TCR) delta locus and have identified linear species excised by Ddelta1-Ddelta2 and V-Ddelta2 rearrangement in thymus DNA. Relatively few (approximately 10) V-Ddelta2-excised linear species were detected in DNA from fetal thymocytes. The sizes of these species corresponded to the estimated distances between Ddelta2 and the V gene segments utilized by gammadelta T cells and indicated that both Ddelta2-proximal and -distal V gene segments are targeted for V-Ddelta2 rearrangement. Similar-sized species were observed in DNA from thymocytes of scid mice in which T-cell development is arrested prior to TCR expression. Since previous studies suggest that the TCR alpha/delta locus encodes more than 100 V gene segments, our results indicate that a few select V gene segments are predominantly targeted for rearrangement to Ddelta2, and this primarily accounts for the restricted Vdelta gene repertoire of gammadelta T cells.  相似文献

Cell seeding of three-dimensional polymer scaffolds is the first step of the cultivation of engineered tissues in bioreactors. Seeding requirements of large scaffolds to make implants for potential clinical use include: (a) high yield, to maximize the utilization of donor cells, (b) high kinetic rate, to minimize the time in suspension for anchorage-dependent and shear-sensitive cells, and (c) high and spatially uniform distribution of attached cells, for rapid and uniform tissue regeneration. Highly porous, fibrous polyglycolic acid scaffolds, 5-10 mm in diameter and 2-5 mm thick, were seeded with bovine articular chondrocytes in well-mixed spinner flasks. Essentially, all cells attached throughout the scaffold volume within 1 day. Mixing promoted the formation of 20-32-micron diameter cell aggregates that enhanced the kinetics of cell attachment without compromising the uniformity of cell distribution. The kinetics and possible mechanisms of cell seeding were related to the formation of cell aggregates by a simple mathematical model that can be used to optimize seeding conditions for cartilage tissue engineering.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The inhaled anaesthetic desflurane is characterized by a rapid wash-in and wash-out and may be useful for short paediatric ENT procedures. Therefore, this study was designed to compare the effects of desflurane or isoflurane on intubating conditions and recovery characteristics in paediatric ENT patients. METHODS: In this prospective, randomised investigation, we studied 44 children scheduled for ENT surgery, aged 4-12 yr and classified ASA I-II. After thiopentone induction (5-8 mg/kg) the lungs were ventilated by face mask and the vaporizer was dialed to 1 MAC (age-adapted) of desflurane of isoflurane. A reduced dose of vecuronium (0.05 mg/kg) was administered, and intubating conditions were rated 3 min later. Following tracheal intubation, 50% nitrous oxide were added, and the concentration of desflurane or isoflurane was adjusted according to clinical needs. At the end of surgery all anaesthetics were discontinued simultaneously and recovery times were recorded. RESULTS: Intubating conditions were rated significantly better for desflurane (excellent or good 20 of 22) than for isoflurane (12 of 22). Recovery times were significantly shorter for desflurane than for isoflurane (mean +/- SE): spontaneous ventilation 4.0 +/- 0.5 min vs. 6.0 +/- 0.7 min, extubation 8.4 +/- 0.7 vs. 11.4 +/- 1.1 min and arrival at PACU 11.5 +/- 0.8 vs. 16.6 +/- 1.5 min. No airway complications (coughing, laryngospasm, or desaturation < 97%) were noted for either anaesthetic. CONCLUSIONS: Following an intravenous induction improved intubating conditions, shorter recovery times and the lack of airway complications make desflurane a suitable alternative to isoflurane for paediatric ENT anaesthesia.  相似文献

A study has been made of how cost-effectiveness due to the improvement of VLSI technology can apply to a scientific computer system without performance loss. The result is a parallel computer, ADENA (Alternating Direction Edition Nexus Array), with a core consisting of four kinds of VLSI chips, two for processor elements (PES) and two for the interprocessor network (plus some memory chips). An overview of ADENA and an analysis of its performance are given. The design considerations for the PEs incorporated in ADENA are discussed. The factors that limit performance in a parallel processing environment are analyzed, and the measures employed to improve these factors at the LSI design level are described. The 42.6 sq cm CMOS PEs reach a peak performance of 20 MFLOPS and a 256-PE ADENA 1.5 GFLOPS has been achieved and 300 to 400 MFLOPS for PDE applications  相似文献

In coronary artery disease, discrepancy in the uptake of thallium-201 and of methyl-branched fatty acid at rest has been described. The purpose of this study was to evaluate iodine-123 labelled beta-methyl-branched fatty acid (BMIPP) myocardial uptake and wall motion at rest in segments with stress-induced ischaemia identified by stress 201Tl tomography in patients with chronic coronary artery disease. 123I-BMIPP myocardial tomography was performed at rest and was compared with the findings of exercise-reinjection 201Tl tomography in 45 patients with chronic coronary artery disease. Regional wall motion was evaluated by contrast left ventriculography in 36 patients. Among 237 segments with reversible 201Tl defects, equally decreased uptake on both reinjection 201Tl and BMIPP images was observed in 93 (39%), more severely decreased uptake of BMIPP in 118 (50%) and more severely decreased uptake of reinjection 201Tl in 26 (11%). On the other hand, among 90 segments with non-reversible 201Tl defects, each pattern was observed in 71 (79%), 6 (7%) and 13 (14%) segments, respectively. When comparing the ischaemic segments with and without more severely reduced uptake of BMIPP than of reinjection 201Tl, wall motion was impaired to a greater extent in the segments with more severely reduced uptake of BMIPP than of reinjection 201Tl [severe hypo- or dyskinesis was present in 64 (70%) of 91 segments and in 24 (22%) of 110 segments, respectively, P<0.005]. In patients with chronic coronary artery disease, resting fatty acid uptake was frequently more reduced than reinjection 201Tl in the segments with stress-induced ischaemia, while in most of the fixed perfusion defects BMIPP and reinjection 201Tl uptake decreased concordantly. In ischaemic myocardium, wall motion was impaired to a greater extent in those segments which showed more severely reduced uptake of BMIPP than of reinjection 201Tl. In ischaemic but viable myocardium, discordant BMIPP uptake less than reinjection 201Tl uptake may indicate metabolic alterations and wall motion abnormality at rest independent of perfusion abnormalities. In conclusion, the combination of resting BMIPP and stress-reinjection 201Tl imaging may provide information on metabolic alterations and wall motion abnormality at rest independent of perfusion abnormalities.  相似文献

Abstract Many cases exist where material supporting superconducting magnets at liquid helium temperature (4.2 K) are subjected to repeated applications of thermal and electromagnetic stresses. Additionally, since welding cannot be avoided, it is highly desirable that the materials used for supporting superconducting magnets possess excellent strength and toughness in addition to superior mechanical properties after heat treatment. In the current research, an austenitic stainless steel was subjected to a sensitizing heat treatment whose effects, at 4.2 K, on the tensile and the fatigue crack growth properties were clarified. Tensile ductility of the sensitized material was markedly reduced to about one-half that of the solution treated material because of an intergranular form of fracturing in such material. Fatigue crack growth rate of the sensitized material was faster than that of the solution treated material because of the tendency for cracks to develop intergranularly.  相似文献
