High cost and complex fabrication process of inorganic membranes and lower position of pristine polymeric membranes in the Robeson upper bound curve urged the researchers to develop mixed matrix membranes (MMMs). Cellulose acetate being most commercially used polymer, dominates the market of CO2 separation mainly because of low cost and environmental friendly resource. In the present study, MMMs consists of amine functionalized zeolitic imidazolate framework (NH2-ZIF-8) and cellulose triacetate were fabricated for the first time. NH2-ZIF-8 was used as a filler because the pore size of ZIF-8 is between the kinetic diameter of separating gases (CO2 and CH4). Moreover,  NH2 group attached on the surface of ZIF-8 has affinity with condensable gases like CO2. Morphology, crystallinity, tensile strength and functional groups of fabricated membranes were investigated using different analytical techniques. Results revealed that the increase of feed pressure has increased CO2 permeability and decreased permselectivity. However, improvements in gas separation performance were observed with the addition of nanofiller. Best position in Robeson's upper bound curve at 4 bar was obtained with 10 wt% loading with CO2 permeability and CO2/CH4 permselectivity of 218 barrer and 13.84, respectively. The improvement in the gas separation performance with loading is attributed to the increased diffusion coefficients as well as solubility coefficients, which was increased to 33% and 3.8%, respectively.  相似文献

AA7xxx and AISI304 stainless steel (SS) are employed in promising applications. Al alloy-to-SS dissimilar joining is difficult and challenging. Major challenge in the joining of these alloys is the difficulty in mixing of these materials which possess exotic and widely distant properties. AA7475-T761 is a high strength aluminum alloy which is used in key aircraft components. Maiden AA7475-T761 and AISI304 dissimilar joints were fabricated using friction stir welding. Welding was performed with tool having pin diameter of 4 mm and offset of 1.25 mm on Aluminum side. Tool rotational speed, traverse speed and shoulder diameter were varied in the range of 450–560 rpm, 50–63 mm/min, and 12–14 mm, respectively. Mechanical tests showed that joint formed with 14 mm diameter, 560 rpm and 50 mm/min gave the best joint efficiency of 71% of Al-alloy at 7.31% elongation. The materials mixing issues during processing were analyzed with SEM mircrostructure and fractography. Metallography also revealed that offset is critical to the success of joint as it controlled effective mixing of SS and Al in 15 and 85 vol.%, respectively. SS fragments from thermo-mechanically affected zone of SS were found to be partially sheared forming layer of thickness equal to tool traverse/revolution ratio.  相似文献

Well-formed carbon nanocones at the ends of micrometer-diameter carbon fibers (CFs) were fashioned into functional tips for scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and miniaturized voltammetric sensors. Sharpening of single graphite filaments was achieved by simple DC electrochemical etching in 0.1 N NaOH. Operated as STM tips, pointed CFs resolved in air the contour and surface morphology of a nanoscopic Au line pattern and imaged in vacuum a Si (1 1 1) surface with clear atomic resolution. Subjecting already etched CFs to tip-sparing insulation with electrodeposited paint produced conical carbon ultramicroelectrodes (UMEs) with effective radii down to about 900 nm. Comparative cyclic voltammetry trials in alkaline, neutral and acidic solutions showed that the conical carbon UME’s had a wider practical potential window for electroanalytic applications than, for instance, Pt disk UMEs. The CF-based conical sensors described here are exceptionally easy to make with simple laboratory equipment and perform well in STM topography imaging and voltammetry. The inherent simplicity of sensor production widens the field of potential users, and offers clear advantages over existing types of UMEs, in particular those based on carbon nanotubes, which are especially hard to handle in an optical microscope setting.  相似文献

Of late, UV-curable products are gaining attention in the wood industry because of the effectiveness and efficiency of this method. UV-curable surface coatings are widely used because of their excellent properties and because they are environmentally friendly products. In this study, immobilized Candida antarctica lipase B was used to catalyze formation of liquid wax esters, such as adipate esters, via a solvent-free process. The adipate esters formed were then used as UV-curable reactants in the wood coating formulations, consisting of epoxy acrylate, additives, and a photoinitiator. The performance of the products was evaluated by coating them onto glass tiles (using gel content, hardness, and scratch resistance tests) and wood panels (using adhesion, impact, and heat resistance tests). The coated film from this formulation performed well during the evaluation tests. The gel content exhibited more than 90% polymerization, while the pendulum hardness gave a value of 55.25%. Both analyses were significant in determining the effect of irradiation cycles. A scratch test was also carried out to verify the resistance of the coating. The maximum weight load which can be resisted by the wax esters formulation is 4.5 N.  相似文献

The problem of a steady mixed convection stagnation point flow towards a permeable vertical plate with prescribed surface heat flux immersed in an incompressible micropolar fluid is studied numerically. The governing partial differential equations are first transformed into a system of ordinary differential equations using a similarity transformation, before being solved numerically by a finite-difference scheme known as the Keller-box method and the Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg method with shooting technique. The effects of the material parameter, buoyancy parameter, suction/injection parameter and the Prandtl number on the fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics are discussed. It is found that dual solutions exist for both assisting and opposing flows. The skin friction coefficient and the local Nusselt number increase in the presence of suction and magnetic field. Moreover, suction as well as fluids with larger Prandtl number widens the range of the buoyancy parameter for which the solution exists.  相似文献

This work proposes an effective method for dispersion of zirconia suspension for dental block preparation and optimizes the cold isostatic pressing (CIP) pressure to improve the densification of slip-casted zirconia blocks. Two batches of 44 wt% zirconia suspension were prepared using distilled water in a pH 2 medium containing 0.5 wt% polyethyleneimine as dispersant. The first batch was sonicated for different durations (from 5 min to 30 min), and the second batch was dispersed through ball milling at rotational speeds of 200, 300, and 400 rpm for 60, 90, and 120 min. All suspensions were subjected to sedimentation test and particle size measurement. Results revealed that the optimum ultrasonication duration was 10 min, which yielded the smallest particle size of 133 nm. Ball milling at 300 rpm for 120 min achieved the maximum dispersion of particles, with an average size of 75 nm. Under the optimum conditions of ultrasonication duration, ball milling duration, and ball milling speed, the particle size decreased to 48 nm, which is close to the primary particle size. These dispersion techniques and parameters were selected for preparing a suspension to be consolidated into blocks through slip casting and were enhanced through CIP at pressure ranging from 100 MPa to 300 MPa. CIP compaction at 250 MPa significantly increased the shrinkage percentage of green zirconia blocks, with pore radius decreased to 18 nm. The density of zirconia pressed at 250 MPa and presintered at a low temperature of 950 °C was 59% of the theoretical density and was higher than that of commercial presintered blocks. Thus, CIP should be conducted under a compaction pressure of 250 MPa to produce dense and homogeneous zirconia blocks.  相似文献

Commercial availability of fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) from palm oil targeted for biodiesel offers a good feedstock for the production of structurally well‐defined polyols for polyurethane applications. The effect of molecular weight (MW), odd and even carbon numbers, and the linear and branched structure reactants used in the ring‐opening reaction of epoxidized fatty acid methyl ester (E‐FAME) on the properties of polyols was investigated. Conversions of E‐FAME to PolyFAME polyols were confirmed by Fourier transform infrared analysis, oxirane oxygen content, and hydroxyl number. Gel permeation chromatography (GPC) calibrated against polyether polyols as a standard and vapor pressure osmometry were used for MW determination. GPC chromatograms of PolyFAME polyols clearly demonstrated the formation of oligomers during ring‐opening reactions. MW, and odd and even carbon numbers in a structure of linear diols and branched diol used in the syntheses of PolyFAME polyols did not have an effect on crystallinity, glass transition, or melt temperatures measured using Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). PolyFAME polyols ring‐opened with water, methanol, and 1,2‐propanediol contained secondary hydroxyl groups, whereas PolyFAME polyols ring‐opened with linear diols contained a mixture of primary and secondary hydroxyl groups. It was found that the concentration of primary hydroxyl groups increased significantly by increasing the number of carbons from C2 to C3 in the linear diols. The viscosity of PolyFAME polyols also increased with the MW of linear diols used in the E‐FAME ring‐opening reaction. These findings would be beneficial for formulators in choosing the most cost effective polyols for polyurethane formulations.  相似文献
