In the current study, double-diffusive natural convective peristaltic flow of a nanofluid with induced magnetic field in an asymmetric porous channel is discussed. The five coupled equations are solved analytically using with new analytical techniques detail of which is given in solution section. The analytical solutions for pressure gradient and pressure rise, velocity profile, temperature, solutal concentration, and nanoparticle fraction are evaluated and presented through graphs.

A prototype model used to explain the relationship between mechanisms of reaction, convection effects, and transportation of diffusion is the generalized Burgers–Huxley equation. This study presents numerical solution of non-linear inhomogeneous time fractional Burgers–Huxley equation using cubic B-spline collocation method. For this purpose, Caputo derivative is used for the temporal derivative which is discretized by L1 formula and spatial derivative is interpolated with the help of B-spline basis functions, so the dependent variable is continuous throughout the solution range. The validity of the proposed scheme is examined by solving four test problems with different initial-boundary conditions. The algorithm for the execution of scheme is also presented. The effect of non-integer parameter \(\alpha \) and time on dependent variable is studied. Moreover, convergence and stability of the proposed scheme is analyzed, and proved that scheme is unconditionally stable. The accuracy is checked by error norms. Based on obtained results we can say that the proposed scheme is a good addition to the existing schemes for such real-life problems.

PLLA and stereocomplexed polylactide (sc‐PLA) nanofibers were formed by electrospinning solutions of the polymers in HFIP. A highly semi‐crystalline sc‐PLA nanofiber having only sc crystallites was confirmed by WAXD analysis. The diameters of the nanofibers of both polymers decreased slightly when they were annealed at 60 °C, which was near Tg. Enzyme degradation of both as‐spun PLLA and sc‐PLA nanofibers by proteinase K from Tritirachium album was carried out. The rate of degradation of the nanofibers can be controlled by varying annealing conditions, hence the extent of crystallinity.

Problem, research strategy, and findings: Increasing walking and bicycling to school has been a national policy goal since Congress created the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program. While previous research has suggested positive program impacts, there have been no large-scale studies with strong research designs. Here we study 801 schools in the District of Columbia, Florida, Oregon, and Texas to assess how the proportion of students walking and bicycling to school changed after the introduction of SRTS programs. By including schools with and without SRTS programs and analyzing data collected over time (2007–2012), we are able to distinguish SRTS impacts from secular trends. We find increases in walking and bicycling after schools implemented SRTS programs. Engineering improvements are associated with an 18% relative increase in walking and bicycling, and the effects of education and encouragement programs are cumulative. Over the course of five years, these education and encouragement programs could lead to a 25% relative increase in walking and bicycling.

Takeaway for practice: Planners should work to prioritize capital improvements that improve non-motorized access to school and revise comprehensive plans and subdivision regulations to ensure that new development supports access to school.  相似文献

School Siting     
Problem: The United States is embarking on an unprecedented era of school construction even as debate continues over where schools should be located and how much land they should occupy.

Purpose: My three goals for this study were to trace the evolution of school siting standards, to explain the factors currently influencing school facility location decisions, and to identify what local and regional planners could contribute to school siting decisions.

Methods: I reviewed the land use planning and educational facilities literatures on school siting and conducted in-depth interviews with school facility planners from 10 counties in Maryland and northern Virginia to assess their perspectives on the school planning process.

Results and conclusions: I discovered that different groups use very different definitions of community school. Smart growth proponents advocate community schools that are small and intimately linked to neighborhoods, while school facility planners expect community schools to meet the needs of entire localities. I recommend that individual communities consider the tradeoffs associated with different school sizes and make choices that meet local preferences for locations within walking distance of students, potential for sports fields, school design, and connections to neighborhoods. State school construction and siting policies should support flexibility for localities.

Takeaway for practice: Local and regional planners should work with school facility planners to conduct exercises and charettes to help each community determine how to realize its own vision of community schools.

This research is concerned with the peristaltic motion of a Johnson–Segalman fluid in an inclined asymmetric channel. The equations for a magnetohydrodynamic fluid in an inclined asymmetric channel are developed. Both the thermal and velocity slip conditions are used. Series solutions for stream function, temperature, pressure gradient and heat transfer coefficients are derived. The solutions are compared with the previous published work. Numerical integration has been performed for pressure rise per wavelength. Graphical results are presented and discussed for some embedded parameters. This paper explores the role of citizen journalism in the improvement of slums through the Voice of Kibera (VoK) case study. To meet the research objectives, both qualitative and quantitative methods are applied. The study used content analysis, a survey and interview techniques. It concluded that citizen journalism in the VoK uses a participatory, bottom-up approach, with the residents taking a lead role in the production and consumption of news, and that it plays its part in improving the lives of people in Kibera, contributing to governance and processes of democracy. The core development values of participation and empowerment are central to this study, which examines how these values are being impacted on by information technology interventions in the communications area. The research also concludes that citizen journalism may be sustainable if it is financed, promoted, resourced with professional journalists, equipped with new technologies and citizens continue to participate. Lack of cooperation from the audience, finance both for the running of the project, salary and technical problems were cited as the major challenges of citizen journalism.  相似文献

The present article deals with the peristaltic ?ow of a nano‐Eyring Prandtl ?uid model in a diverging tube. The governing equations for the considered model in view of the nanoparticles are presented in cylindrical coordinates using long wavelength and low Reynolds number approximation. The resulting nonlinear di?erential equations are solved for velocity, temperature, nanoparticle, and pressure gradient using the homotopy perturbation method. Numerical integration has been carried out for pressure rise, frictional forces, velocity, temperature, and nanoparticles. The numerical results are discussed through graphs. The e?ects of various emerging parameters are investigated for ?ve di?erent peristaltic waves.
