Laurus nobilis essential oils from Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco were analyzed for their chemical composition and assessed for their repellent and toxic activities against two major stored product pests: Rhyzopertha dominica and Tribolium castaneum. The three oils showed quantitative rather than qualitative differences in their chemical compositions. 1,8-cineole, linalool and isovaleraldehyde, were identified as the major common compounds whereas, α-pinene, α-terpineol, eugenylmethylether, β-pinene, spathulenol and β-myrcene were also well represented in all three oils. Results showed that L. nobilis essential oils were repellant and toxic to adults of R. dominica and T. castaneum. Repellent and fumigant toxicities were highly dependent upon insect species and oil origin.In filter paper tests, L. nobilis essential oil from Morocco was more effective compared to Tunisian and Algerian oils. RD50 values were respectively 0.013 μl/cm2, 0.036 μl/cm2 and 0.033 μl/cm2 for R. dominica versus 0.045 μl/cm2, 0.139 μl/cm2 and 0.096 μl/cm2 for T. castaneum. Moreover, fumigant activity tests showed that both R. dominica and T. castaneum were more susceptible to L. nobilis essential oil from Morocco than that from Algeria or Tunisia. The corresponding LC50 values were respectively 68, 99 and 113 μl/l air for R. dominica against 172, 194 and 217 μl/l air for T. castaneum. Our work clearly vindicates interest in the efficacy of essential oils from plants of Mediterranean origin both as insecticides and repellents against stored product pests.  相似文献

In Algeria, little information is available on the population structure of Aspergillus section Flavi in raw materials and resultant animal feeds. A total of 172 isolates belonging to Aspergillus section Flavi were recovered from 57 animal feeds and identified on the basis of macro and micro-morphological characters, mycotoxin production and genetic relatedness. For the molecular analysis, sequencing of the calmodulin gene (CaM) and the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions were performed for representative isolates. Four distinct morphotypes were distinguished: Aspergillus flavus (78.5%), Aspergillus tamarii (19.2%), Aspergillus parasiticus (1.7%), and Aspergillus alliaceus (0.6%). All A. flavus isolates were of the L type and no correlation between sclerotia production and aflatoxigenicity was observed. Our results showed that 68% of the A. flavus strains produced aflatoxins B (AFB), and 72.7% were cyclopiazonic acid (CPA) producers. The three isolates of A. parasiticus were able to produce AFB and aflatoxins G but not CPA whereas, all the strains of A. tamarii produced only CPA. The obtained results revealed the presence of different species of Aspergillus section Flavi, among which were aflatoxin producers. This study provides evidence useful for considerations in aflatoxin control strategies.  相似文献

Extracts from the bark of Fraxinus angustifolia as well as the leaves of Pistacia lentiscus and Clematis flammula have been investigated for their reducing power, inhibition of linoleic acid peroxidation and scavenging capacity on 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical and H2O2 using in vitro spectrophotometric methods. The results indicate that the best overall antioxidant capacity was shown by extracts of Pistacia lentiscus, followed by Fraxinus angustifolia and Clematis flammula.  相似文献

The aim of this work is to explore the thermal performance of a tracked tubular solar still (TSS) with a parabolic trough concentrator in Baghdad (33.27° N, 44.37° E) in September 2022. The present tubular still is distinguished by its hexagonal glass cover. The effect of integrating the TSS with a heat pipe, the still tilt angle (10°, 15°), and the depth of saline water inside the still partitions on the productivity of freshwater are investigated. The results showed that using heat pipe enhances the freshwater productivity by 25%–40% and the efficiency by 25%. For the still integrated with heat pipe, as the water depth is increased from 5.5 to 6.5 cm the productivity of freshwater is increased by 16% and 20% for tilt angles 10° and 15°, respectively.  相似文献

This study was conducted to compare metals bioaccumulation in the terrestrial isopod Armadillidium granulatum collected from Ghar El Melh lagoon. We focused on recognizing the effects of trace elements on hepatopancreas functional role. To this end, isopod specimens were exposed for 3 weeks to sediments contaminated with cadmium, copper, zinc, mercury, and nickel. Three concentrations were used in duplicate for each experimental condition. At the end of the experiment, metal body burdens were determined using flame atomic absorption spectrometry. Results of the bioaccumulation factor (BAF) showed that the species A. granulatum was classified as a Cu macroconcentrator (BAF > 2) and a Zn deconcentrator (BAF < 2). Dose dependent morphological and histological changes were observed in the hepatopancreas cells using transmission electron microscopy. The predominant features were: microvillus border disruption, condensation of the cytoplasm with increasing endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, lysosomes and granules that accumulated metals in B and S cells. The number of lipid droplets decreased especially after Cd, Zn, Hg, and Ni treatments. This study demonstrated that the terrestrial isopod A. gramulatum could be a good indicator of soil metal contamination.  相似文献

A novel concept of air heater using a heating element made from Aluminum metal porous disc surrounded by a DC resistive electrical heater inserted in the mid-plane of a copper tube of (52.8 mm) diameter and (480 mm) length is presented herein. Study of the developed heater is conducted; using different porous disc thicknesses of (20, 40, 60 mm), heater wall temperatures (106 °C and 119 °C), and flow rates rare varied from (100-300 L/min). Al-metal foam disc has been made using the metal powder technology. Different resistive electrical heaters according to the type of porous disc used have been manufactured. A 2-D computational model is developed, using continuity, momentum, and energy equations for turbulent forced flow in plain tube, while adopting Darcy’s model in the porous disc region.  相似文献

This paper presents a new approach to reduce the computational complexity in two‐dimensional (2D) matrix pencil (MP) method for direction of arrival (DOA) estimation of plane wave signals using a combination of vertical uniform linear array (VULA) and uniform circular array (UCA). By applying phase mode excitation based beamforming to the UCA, we can apply the matrix pencil (MP) method to the beamspace data using only a single snapshot. The technique is based on the split array, which is composed of two perpendicular arrays. The vertical uniform linear array used to determine the elevation DOA components is located perpendicularly at the center of the uniform circular array in the horizontal plane used to calculate the azimuth angles. Unlike common planar and circular arrays, this antenna array with its particular geometry requires no pair‐matching between the azimuth and the elevation angle estimation and can also remove the drawbacks of estimation failure problems. Using this particular geometry for the 2D MP method leads to an efficient computational methodology for real‐time implementation on a digital signal processor. The obtained simulation results of the MP method applied to both uncorrelated and correlated narrow‐band sources in the presence of white noise show good performance estimation. © 2016 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
