Innovative smelting of IIIX15CΓ-B electrosteel

A new smelting technology for IIIX15CΓ-B electrosteel is described. In this technology, the steel undergoes treatment in a ladle-furnace unit and a vacuum system. The output of bar batches of all five size groups is analyzed for the content of nonmetallic inclusions according to State Standard GOST 801-78 and the ASTM E-45 standard (method A). The phase-mineral composition of furnace slag on smelting steel in a DSP-60 arc furnace is studied by X-ray microstructural analysis. The change in chemical composition of oxide-fluoride slag when the steel passes through the ladle-furnace unit and the vacuum system is analyzed, along with the influence of CaF₂ on the activity of FeO in oxide-fluoride slag and on the durability of the ladle lining. In conclusion, the need for environmental improvements is noted, in the light of the use of fluorspar; research into means of reducing fluorspar consumption must be activated.     

Corrosion resistance of D16 alloy depending on the salinity and meteorological parameters of coastal atmosphere

Results of two-year-long atmospheric corrosion tests of D16 alloy in representative coastal regions under natural field conditions and during artificial sedimentation of sea sal that corresponded to a salinity range of 0?C300 mg Cl^?/(m² day) are discussed.     

Calculating Corrosion Parameters of Sheet and Wire (Helical) Samples when Classifying Atmospheric Corrosivity

The report deals with mathematical expressions derived for the purpose of calculating atmospheric corrosion rates, including those of changes in total weights and weights of corrosion products retained at the surface of flat sheets and wire helices used as samples in monitoring the corrosivity of the environment according to the International Standards ISO 9223 and ISO 9226.     

Efficient electric-discharge CO2 laser with a prepulse formed by a generator with an inductive energy storage device

Results are presented of experimental investigations of a CO₂ laser pumped by a self-sustained discharge from a generator with an inductive energy storage device and a semiconductor current chopper. It is shown that the energy stored in the inductance of the discharge circuit can form a prepulse capable of depositing most of the energy in the active mixture for nearoptimum values of the parameter E/p. A radiation energy of 3 J was achieved in an electricdischarge laser with a 0.181 liter active volume with a 17% efficiency relative to the energy stored in the capacitive storage device. Pis’ma Zh. Experimental and numerical investigation of the electrophysical properties of products of combustion of hydrogen in oxygen seeded with alkali metals

Results are given of experimental and numerical investigations of electrical conductivity and mobility of electrons in the products of combustion of hydrogen-oxygen fuel seeded with cesium or potassium-sodium eutectic. The experiments were performed in model (flow rate of 0.9 kg/s, thermal power N _th ≈7 MW) and large-scale experimental (flow rate ≈12 kg/s, N _th ≈ 150 MW) facilities with the pressure in the combustor ranging from 2 to 6 MPa, oxidizer excess coefficients of 0.6 to 1.1, mass fractions of the seed in the fuel of 0.3 to 0.9 with the Mach number M ≈ 2.4. The basic characteristics, structural schemes, and general views of the facilities are given. When cesium is used for seeding, the experimentally obtained values of electrical conductivity may be as high as σ_el ≈ 20 S/m, those of σ_elν² ≈ 115 S/m (km/s)², and of electron mobility ? 0.11 T^?1 at a pressure of ≈0.3 MPa, temperature of ≈2800 K, and flow velocity ν ≈ 2500 m/s. Under the same conditions for combustion products seeded with KNa eutectic, we have σ^el ≈ 9 S/m, σ_elν² ≈ 65 (S/m)(km/s)², and electron mobility of 0.09 T^?1.     

The cardiotoxic properties of kordaron in acute myocardial ischemia and infarct

Cardiodepressive and arrhythmogenic properties of cordarone were studied on cat in conditions of experimental acute ischemia and myocardial infarction upon intravenous infusion. The obtained results showed an increase cordarone cardiotoxicity and arrhythmogenic properties in conditions of myocardial infarction. No reliable difference was observed in dynamics of cordarone-induced changes in ECG parameters in animals with myocardial ischemia of various duration and intact animals.
