Interaction of slow electrons with surface: Empty electronic states and inelastic scattering effects
The fine structure of experimental true secondary-electron emission spectra along the normal to a clean W(1 1 0) surface, target (or total) current spectra, and low-energy-electron-transmission spectra along the normal to a clean 2H-MoS2(0 0 0 1) surface are interpreted theoretically. It is shown that the fine structure of these spectra is mainly due to the electronic structure of unoccupied high-level electronic states (above the vacuum level), which become occupied by electrons entering the solid. We consider data acquisition and control system used in the test rig for measuring the center of gravity coordinates and inertia tensor of spacecrafts. Structure of the system is described. Technical specifications and metrological parameters are presented for the module which measures static and dynamic signals of strain gauge dynamometers and for the module which measures the signals of angular oscillation sensor installed on the test rig measuring platform; these oscillations are generated using electric motors and special control hardware. The microstructure and optical characteristics of wood-smoke aerosols are studied as a function of the combustion regime, smoke-formation intensity, aging with time, artificial change in the relative air humidity, and particle temperature by the methods of polarization nephelometry, photoelectric counting, and electron microscopy. A three-fractional model of the particle-size distribution is proposed, and the role of each fraction in the stages of smoke formation and further changes is justified. It is shown that the governing factor for the formation of strongly absorbing particles (black-carbon content) is a combustion regime.
