Rapid computation of the QR factorization of a matrix is fundamental to many scientific and engineering problems. The paper presents a family of algorithms parameterized by the number of processors available P, arithmetic grain aggregation parameters g1, g2, …, gP, and communication grain aggregation parameter h, which computer the QR factorization of a matrix A ∈ Cm × n with minimal latency. The approach is particularly well suited for dedicated distributed memory architectures such as linear arrays of INMOS Transputers, Texas Instruments C40s or Analog Devices 21060s.  相似文献

Species adsorbed at the surfaces of soot particles sampled at different locations in a low-pressure methane flame have been analyzed. The analysis method is laser desorption/laser ionization/time-of-flight mass spectrometry (LD/LI/TOF-MS) applied to soot particles deposited on a filter after probe extraction in the flame. In order to fully characterize the experimental apparatus, a strategy of systematic investigations has been adopted, beginning with the study of less complex systems constituted by model soot (standard polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, PAHs, adsorbed on black carbon), and then natural soot sampled from a literature reference ethylene flame. This characterization allowed a good understanding of the analytical response of PAHs to the desorption and ionization processes and the definition of the optimal experimental conditions. The soot PAH content was then investigated on a low-pressure methane/oxygen/nitrogen premixed flat flame (? = 2.32) as a function of the sampling height above the burner (HAB). The obtained mass spectra are reproducible, fragment-free, well resolved in the analyzed m/z range and they are characterized by an excellent signal-to-noise ratio. They all feature regular peak sequences, where each signal peak has been assigned to the most stable high-temperature-formed PAHs. The structure of the mass spectra depends on the sampling HAB into the flame, i.e., on the reaction time. An original contribution to the data interpretation comes from the development of a new sampling method that makes it possible to infer hypotheses about the PAH partition between the gas phase and the soot particles. This method highlights the presence of high-mass PAHs in the soot nucleation zone, and it suggests the importance of heterogeneous reactions occurring between flame PAHs and soot particles.  相似文献

In this paper, we focus first on the time needed by a node to join a Time Slotted Channel Hopping (TSCH) network, this time is called joining time. Second, we are also interested in the network building time. Since the data generated by a sensor node remain unavailable as long as this node has not yet joined the wireless sensor network, these times are of prime importance for applications having strong latency requirements on data gathering. The joining time depends on the beacon advertising policy that has been left unspecified by the standard. The contribution of this paper is triple. First, we propose an Enhanced Deterministic Beacon Advertising algorithm, called EDBA, that ensures a collision-free advertising of beacons and minimizes the average joining time. Second, we model the behavior of a joining node by a Markov chain, validated by NS3 simulations, and compute the average joining time. Third, we compare the performance of EDBA with this of MBS, considered as the best beacon advertising algorithm in the literature.  相似文献

Ozone (O3) chemistry is thought to dominate the oxidation of indoor surfaces. We consider the hypothesis that reactions taking place within indoor boundary layers result in greater than anticipated hydroxyl radical (OH) deposition rates. We develop models that account for boundary layer mass‐transfer phenomena, O3‐terpene chemistry and OH formation, removal, and deposition; we solve these analytically and by applying numerical methods. For an O3‐limonene system, we find that OH flux to a surface with an O3 reaction probability of 10?8 is 4.3 × 10?5 molec/(cm2 s) which is about 10 times greater than predicted by a traditional boundary layer theory. At very low air exchange rates the OH surface flux can be as much as 10% of that for O3. This effect becomes less pronounced for more O3‐reactive surfaces. Turbulence intensity does not strongly influence the OH concentration gradient except for surfaces with an O3 reaction probability >10?4. Although the O3 flux dominates OH flux under most conditions, OH flux can be responsible for as much as 10% of total oxidant uptake to otherwise low‐reactivity surfaces. Further, OH chemistry differs from that for ozone; therefore, its deposition is important in understanding the chemical evolution of some indoor surfaces and surface films.  相似文献

A new protocol is implemented to demonstrate the presence of blood in the patina of African art objects from Mali. Divided into three steps, the protocol first consists in demonstrating the presence of proteins and localizing them in the sample's cross sections using time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (TOF-SIMS) and synchrotron-based infrared microspectrometry (microFT-IR). In a second time, TOF-SIMS is used to investigate heme, which is a blood marker. If heme is missing, which could mean that it is too degraded to be detected, X-ray microfluorescence (microXRF) and X-ray absorption near-edge microspectroscopy (microXANES) are used to prove the presence of iron in the protein area and to get a fingerprint of its chemical environment. This permits us thus to demonstrate that iron is indeed linked with proteins and not with mineral phases of the sample. Coupled with the ritual context of the objects, this constitutes a proof of the use of blood. Thanks to this protocol, which has the major advantage of avoiding false positive results, the presence of blood has been demonstrated in seven out of the eight studied samples.  相似文献

This paper reviews the evolution of bioretention systems, a promising at-source storm-water best management practice. The introduction of bioretention systems in the 1990s by Prince George’s County, Md. is examined along with the motivations behind the development of the systems. A summary of the research findings on the performance of bioretention systems is provided including proposed design modifications to improve the field performance. Also included is an overview of past and current bioretention design guidelines in North America, as well as a discussion of issues surrounding the public adoption and implementation of bioretention systems. Potential alternative uses for the systems are highlighted and a review of bioretention modeling work is provided. Finally, the paper outlines research needs and anticipated future work necessary to bring about the widespread use of bioretention systems.  相似文献
