High performance of compact heat exchangers is conditioned by correct fluid distribution. This is especially true for gas–liquid heat exchangers where a uniform distribution is particularly delicate to obtain and where maldistribution entails significant performance deterioration. Several phenomena can lead to phase distribution problems: the fins may be subject to manufacturing defects or fouling, leading to shortcuts or dead zones. But the first source of maldistribution may be a poor distribution at the outlet of the entrance distributor. This distributor aims at mixing the phases and distributing them across the channels.  相似文献

The aim of this human study was to assess the influence of prebiotic-induced gut microbiota modulation on PUFA-derived bacterial metabolites production. Therefore, we analyzed the circulating fatty acid profile including CLA/CLnA in obese women treated during 3 months with inulin-type fructan prebiotics. In these patients, we had already determined gut microbiota composition by phylogenetic microarray and qPCR analysis of 16S rDNA. Some PUFA-derived bacterial metabolites were detected in the serum of obese patients. Despite the prebiotic-induced modulation of gut microbiota, including changes in CLA/CLnA-producing bacteria, the treatment did not impact significantly on the circulating level of these metabolites. However, some PUFA-derived bacterial metabolites were positively correlated with specific fecal bacteria (Bifidobacterium spp., Eubacterium ventriosum and Lactobacillus spp.) and inversely correlated with serum cholesterol (total, LDL, HDL). These correlations suggest a potential beneficial effect of some of these metabolites but this remains to be confirmed by further investigation.  相似文献

The objective of this work was to study the effects of washing and purification steps on qualitative and quantitative analysis of fecal stanols in the oyster Crassostrea gigas using either single or a combination of lipid purification steps on silica gel or aminopropyl bonded silica gel (NH2) or a washing step. Among the three analytical pathways compared, the two including water extraction or NH2 purification did not lead to higher recoveries and decreased repeatabilities of extractions compared to the single purification on silica gel. This latter led to similar recoveries (ca. 80 %) and repeatabilities (ca. 10 %) for both spiked standards (coprostanol and sitostanol). This analytical pathway has been applied to oysters collected in a harvesting area in Brittany (France) where fecal contaminations are important and allowed to quantify eight stanols in oysters. The relative proportions of fecal stanols of these oysters were combined with principal component analysis in order to investigate the usefulness of their stanol fingerprints to record a fecal contamination and to distinguish its source between human, porcine and bovine contaminations. Oysters non-fecally contaminated by Escherichia coli did not present specific stanol fingerprints while oysters fecally contaminated had a bovine fingerprint, suggesting a contamination of these samples by bovine sources. As a consequence, the method developed here allows the use of stanol fingerprints of oysters as a microbial source tracking tool that can be applied to shellfish harvesting areas subjected to fecal contaminations in order to identify the different sources of contamination and improve watershed management.  相似文献

Zn–Ni composite coatings were obtained by electrochemical co-deposition of TiO2 nano-particles (mean diameter 21 nm). Zn–Ni alloy coating was also produced under the same experimental conditions for comparison. The surface morphology, crystallographic structure, and the grain size of the deposits were investigated, along with the percentage of the embedded nano-particles in Zn–Ni matrix, as a function of concentration of TiO2 nano-particles in the bath. As the titania incorporation percentage is increased, a grain refinement in the nanometer region was revealed followed enhanced microhardness values and an improvement of the content of the nickel in the alloy. Annealing of all coatings at 200 °C revealed the crystallization of the matrix accompanied by a decrease of microhardness followed by stability for 24 h. The corrosion behavior of Zn–Ni/nano-TiO2 composite coatings with various amount of particle content was mainly studied by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in 3 % NaCl. It was seen that Zn–Ni/nano-TiO2 composite coatings exhibited higher corrosion resistances comparing to Zn–Ni alloy coating and corrosion protection improved with increasing nano-TiO2 in coatings.  相似文献

The present study deals with the short-term physicochemical reactions at the interface between bioactive glass particles [55SiO(2)-20CaO-9P(2)O(5)-12Na(2)O-4MgO. mol%] and biological fluid (Dulbecco Modified Eagle's Medium (DMEM)). The physicochemical reactions within the interface are characterized by scanning transmission electron microscopy (TEM) (STEM) associated with Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDXS). Microanalysis of diffusible ions such as sodium, potassium, or oxygen requires a special care. In the present investigation the cryo-technique was adopted as a suitable tool for the specimen preparation and characterization. Cryosectioning is essential for preserving the native distribution of ions so that meaningful information about the local concentrations can be obtained by elemental microanalysis. The bioglass particles immersed in biological fluid for 24 h revealed five reaction stages: (i) dealkalization of the surface by cationic exchange (Na(+), Ca(2+) with H(+) or H(3)O(+)); (ii) loss of soluble silica in the form of Si(OH)(4) to the solution resulting from the breakdown of Si--O--Si bonds (iii); repolymerization of Si(OH)(4) leading to condensation of SiO(2)); (iv) migration of Ca(2+) and PO(4) (3-) to the surface through the SiO(2)-rich layer to form CaO-P(2)O(5) film; (v) crystallization of the amorphous CaO-P(2)O(5) by incorporating OH-- or CO(3) (2-) anions with the formation of three different surface layers on the bioactive glass periphery. The thickness of each layer is approximately 300 nm and from the inner part to the periphery they consist of Si--OH, which permits the diffusion of Ca(2+) and PO(4) (3-) ions and the formation of the middle Ca--P layer, and finally the outer layer composed of Na--O, which acts as an ion exchange layer between Na(+) ions and H(+) or H(3)O(+) from the solution.  相似文献

Patients with mesial temporal lobe epilepsy (MTLE) have asymmetric hippocampal volumes with atrophy that sometimes by visual inspection appears to favor different regions along the longitudinal axis of the affected hippocampus. Histological studies suggest that cell loss may affect the anterior hippocampus preferentially, and that hippocampal sclerosis (HS) limited to the anterior of the hippocampus may indicate better surgical outcome. We used volumetric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI): (1) to objectively describe the distribution of volume loss in HS; and (2) to relate this distribution to outcome of temporal lobectomy. Hippocampal volumes and anterior and posterior subvolumes (AHV, PHV) were measured from MP-RAGE MRI in 43 temporal lobectomy patients with MTLE determined by pathological findings of HS and compared to 23 age-matched controls. Atrophy was defined as 'anterior', 'diffuse', 'posterior', or 'normal' depending on position of AHV and PHV relative to the mean +/- 2 S.D. of regional volumes of control hippocampi. Anterior to posterior ratios (APR = AHV/PHV) were also calculated. Mean APR of hippocampi ipsilateral to lobectomy cannot be distinguished from hippocampi contralateral to lobectomy or from controls. AHV and PHV from hippocampi contralateral to temporal lobectomy were smaller than controls but larger than hippocampi ipsilateral to lobectomy. Surgical outcome was independent of longitudinal distribution of atrophy. We determined that overall volume loss in HS is diffuse, neither clearly favoring the head nor body-tail. Surgical outcome for MTLE is not related to the longitudinal distribution of atrophy revealed by volumetric MRI.  相似文献

This paper deals with the application of distributed amplifier as a power amplifier. Theoretical results obtained by using thespice II program will be presented and compared with measurements up to 12 GHz. It will be shown that small signal properties can be applied for large signal conditions. Large signal measurements give a constant gain of 6 dB in a frequency range from 1 to 10 GHz with an output power of 19 dBm.  相似文献

The Al-La, Al-Ce, Al-Pr, Al-Nd and Al-Sm (Al-light rare earth) binary systems have been systematically assessed and optimized based on the available experimental data and ab-initio data using the FactSage thermodynamic software. Optimized model parameters of the Gibbs energies for all phases which reproduced all the reliable experimental data to satisfaction have been obtained. The optimization procedure was biased by putting a strong emphasis on the observed trends in the thermodynamic properties of Al-RE phases. The Modified Quasichemical Model, which takes short-range ordering into account, is used for the liquid phase and the Compound Energy Formalism is used for the solid solutions in the binary systems. It is shown that the Modified Quasichemical Model used for the liquid alloys permits us to obtain entropies of mixing that are more reliable than that based on the Bragg-Williams random mixing model which does not take short-range ordering into account.  相似文献

In Arabidopsis seeds, ROS have been shown to be enabling actors of cellular signaling pathways promoting germination, but their accumulation under stress conditions or during aging leads to a decrease in the ability to germinate. Previous biochemical work revealed that a specific class of plastid thioredoxins (Trxs), the y-type Trxs, can fulfill antioxidant functions. Among the ten plastidial Trx isoforms identified in Arabidopsis, Trx y1 mRNA is the most abundant in dry seeds. We hypothesized that Trx y1 and Trx y2 would play an important role in seed physiology as antioxidants. Using reverse genetics, we found important changes in the corresponding Arabidopsis mutant seeds. They display remarkable traits such as increased longevity and higher and faster germination in conditions of reduced water availability or oxidative stress. These phenotypes suggest that Trxs y do not play an antioxidant role in seeds, as further evidenced by no changes in global ROS contents and protein redox status found in the corresponding mutant seeds. Instead, we provide evidence that marker genes of ABA and GAs pathways are perturbed in mutant seeds, together with their sensitivity to specific hormone inhibitors. Altogether, our results suggest that Trxs y function in Arabidopsis seeds is not linked to their previously identified antioxidant roles and reveal a new role for plastid Trxs linked to hormone regulation.  相似文献
