We develop a new family of well-balanced path-conservative quadrature-free one-step ADER finite volume and discontinuous Galerkin finite element schemes on unstructured meshes for the solution of hyperbolic partial differential equations with non-conservative products and stiff source terms. The fully discrete formulation is derived using the recently developed framework of explicit one-step PNPM schemes of arbitrary high order of accuracy in space and time for conservative hyperbolic systems [Dumbser M, Balsara D, Toro EF, Munz CD. A unified framework for the construction of one-step finite-volume and discontinuous Galerkin schemes. J Comput Phys 2008;227:8209–53]. The two key ingredients of our high order approach are: first, the high order accurate PNPM reconstruction operator on unstructured meshes, using the WENO strategy presented in [Dumbser M, Käser M, Titarev VA Toro EF. Quadrature-free non-oscillatory finite volume schemes on unstructured meshes for nonlinear hyperbolic systems. J Comput Phys 2007;226:204–43] to ensure monotonicity at discontinuities, and second, a local space–time Galerkin scheme to predict the evolution of the reconstructed polynomial data inside each element during one time step to obtain a high order accurate one-step time discretization. This approach is also able to deal with stiff source terms as shown in [Dumbser M, Enaux C, Toro EF. Finite volume schemes of very high order of accuracy for stiff hyperbolic balance laws. J Comput Phys 2008;227:3971–4001]. These two key ingredients are combined with the recently developed path-conservative methods of Parés [Parés C. Numerical methods for nonconservative hyperbolic systems: a theoretical framework. SIAM J Numer Anal 2006;44:300–21] and Castro et al. [Castro MJ, Gallardo JM, Parés C. High-order finite volume schemes based on reconstruction of states for solving hyperbolic systems with nonconservative products. Applications to shallow-water systems. We show applications of our method to the two-layer shallow water equations as well as applications to the recently published depth-averaged two-fluid flow model of Pitman and Le [Pitman EB, Le L. This paper describes a comprehensive combination of feature extraction methods for vision-based pedestrian detection in Intelligent Transportation Systems. The basic components of pedestrians are first located in the image and then combined with a support-vector-machine-based classifier. This poses the problem of pedestrian detection in real cluttered road images. Candidate pedestrians are located using a subtractive clustering attention mechanism based on stereo vision. A components-based learning approach is proposed in order to better deal with pedestrian variability, illumination conditions, partial occlusions, and rotations. Extensive comparisons have been carried out using different feature extraction methods as a key to image understanding in real traffic conditions. A database containing thousands of pedestrian samples extracted from real traffic images has been created for learning purposes at either daytime or nighttime. The results achieved to date show interesting conclusions that suggest a combination of feature extraction methods as an essential clue for enhanced detection performance  相似文献

Clinical interventional hemodynamic studies quantify the ventricular function from two-dimensional (2-D) X-ray projection images without having enough information of the actual three-dimensional (3-D) shape of this cardiac cavity. This paper reports a left ventricle 3-D reconstruction method from two orthogonal angiographic projections. This investigation is motivated by the lack of information about the actual 3-D shape of the cardiac cavity. The proposed algorithm works in 3-D space and considers the oblique projection geometry associated with the biplane image acquisition equipment. The reconstruction process starts by performing an approximate reconstruction based on the Cylindrical Closure Operation and the Dempster-Shafer theory. This approximate reconstruction is appropriately deformed in order to match the given projections. The deformation procedure is carried out by an iterative process that, by means of the Dempster-Shafer and the fuzzy integral theory, combines the information provided by the projection error and the connectivity between voxels. The performance of the proposed reconstruction method is evaluated by considering first the reconstruction of two 3-D binary databases from two orthogonal synthetized projections, obtaining errors as low as 6.48%. The method is then tested on real data, where two orthogonal preprocessed angiographic images are used for reconstruction. The performance of the technique, in this case, is assessed by means of the projection error, whose average for both views is 7.5%. The reconstruction method is also tested by performing the 3-D reconstruction of a ventriculographic sequence throughout an entire cardiac cycle.  相似文献

During the production of multi-base propellants, in order to identify both the optimal and safety conditions to be used at processing these rubber-like compounds, its rheological behaviour is considered as a key factor. Thus, an analysis of their rheological moduli at the end of the mixing stage and prior to the non-continuous extrusion (ram extrusion) is required so as to predict the optimum parameters to be assumed for both the mixing and extrusion processes. The rheological analysis of this multi-base propellant is carried out by means of a DHR-1 rotational rheometer of TA Instruments, and the complex modulus is proposed as a generalized indicator of the rheological response of these special materials. The complex interrelations among the main parameters of the extrusion process (steady extrusion pressure and extrusion ram velocity) together with the rheological properties of these multi-base propellants, will serve to deduce useful technical guidelines for improving the manufacturing system productivity, safety processing conditions and final product quality.  相似文献

Fast inactivating Shaker H4 potassium channels and nonconducting pore mutant Shaker H4 W434F channels have been used to correlate the installation and recovery of the fast inactivation of ionic current with changes in the kinetics of gating current known as "charge immobilization" (Armstrong, C.M., and F. Bezanilla. 1977. J. Gen. Physiol. 70:567-590.). Shaker H4 W434F gating currents are very similar to those of the conducting clone recorded in potassium-free solutions. This mutant channel allows the recording of the total gating charge return, even when returning from potentials that would largely inactivate conducting channels. As the depolarizing potential increased, the OFF gating currents decay phase at -90 mV return potential changed from a single fast component to at least two components, the slower requiring approximately 200 ms for a full charge return. The charge immobilization onset and the ionic current decay have an identical time course. The recoveries of gating current (Shaker H4 W434F) and ionic current (Shaker H4) in 2 mM external potassium have at least two components. Both recoveries are similar at -120 and -90 mV. In contrast, at higher potentials (-70 and -50 mV), the gating charge recovers significantly more slowly than the ionic current. A model with a single inactivated state cannot account for all our data, which strongly support the existence of "parallel" inactivated states. In this model, a fraction of the charge can be recovered upon repolarization while the channel pore is occupied by the NH2-terminus region.  相似文献

Large conductance voltage- and Ca2+-dependent K+ (MaxiK) channels show sequence similarities to voltage-gated ion channels. They have a homologous S1-S6 region, but are unique at the N and C termini. At the C terminus, MaxiK channels have four additional hydrophobic regions (S7-S10) of unknown topology. At the N terminus, we have recently proposed a new model where MaxiK channels have an additional transmembrane region (S0) that confers beta subunit regulation. Using transient expression of epitope tagged MaxiK channels, in vitro translation, functional, and "in vivo" reconstitution assays, we now show that MaxiK channels have seven transmembrane segments (S0-S6) at the N terminus and a S1-S6 region that folds in a similar way as in voltage-gated ion channels. Further, our results indicate that hydrophobic segments S9-S10 in the C terminus are cytoplasmic and unequivocally demonstrate that S0 forms an additional transmembrane segment leading to an exoplasmic N terminus.  相似文献

Evidences of the π-stacking of rhodamine B onto poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) are given by 1H NMR spectroscopy. As a consequence of these π-π interactions, changes on the diafiltration and UV-vis absorbance and fluorescence patterns are shown comparing water-soluble polymers containing aromatic rings as poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) and poly(N-methacryloyl-5-aminosalicylic acid) with other polyanions that do not contain aromatic rings as poly(sodium vinylsulfonate) and poly(acrylic acid).  相似文献

Ouabain is a cardiac glycoside that has been described as a hormone, with interesting effects on epithelial physiology. We have shown previously that ouabain induces gap junctional intercellular communication (GJIC) in wild, sensitive cells (MDCK-S), but not in cells that have become insensitive (MDCK-I) by modifying their Na+-K+-ATPase. We have also demonstrated that prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) is able to induce increased GJIC by a mechanism other than ouabain, that does not depend on Na+-K+-ATPase. In this work we show, by dye transfer assays, that when MDCK-S and MDCK-I are randomly mixed, to form monolayers, the latter stablish GJIC, because of stimulation by a compound released to the extracellular media, by MDCK-S cells, after treatment with ouabain, as evidenced by the fact that monolayers of only MDCK-I cells, treated with a conditioned medium (CM) that is obtained after incubation of MDCK-S monolayers with ouabain, significantly increase their GJIC. The further finding that either (1) pre-treatment with COX-2 inhibitors or (2) addition to CM of antagonists of EP2 receptor abolish CM’s ability to induce GJIC in MDCK-I monolayers indicate that PGE2 is the GJIC-inducing compound. Therefore, these results indicate that, in addition to direct stimulation, mediated by Na+-K+-ATPase, ouabain enhances GJIC indirectly through the paracrine production of PGE2.  相似文献
