The aim of this study was to evaluate the antioxidant properties of apple slices stored in edible starch films enriched with white and green tea extracts. All results were compared to that obtained for apple slices stored in polyethylene films. The use of starch films, as carrier of antioxidants, prolonged the storage life and improved quality of fresh-cut apples at the end of storage; however, deteriorated their lightness and increased their browning. Apple slices coated in starch films enriched with tea extracts exhibited higher antioxidant properties than those without these additives, as well as those in polyethylene films.  相似文献

Two non-conducting chemicals, aniline and silver nitrate, dissolved in formic acid solutions, yielded a composite of two conducting products, polyaniline and silver. As the concentration of formic acid increased, an alternative reaction, the reduction of silver nitrate with formic acid to silver became dominant, and the content of silver in the composites increased. The formation of polyaniline was confirmed by UV–visible, FTIR, and Raman spectroscopies. The typical conductivity of composites was 43 S cm?1 at 84 wt.% of silver. Silver nanowires coated with polyaniline nanobrushes are produced at low concentrations of formic acid, the granular silver particles covered with polyaniline dominate at high acid concentrations.  相似文献

The liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry method to determine five thyreostats in cow’s milk has been developed and validated according to 2002/657/EC criteria. Thyreostats were extracted with methanol from the milk after the precipitation of the protein. Then, the derivatisation of analytes with 3-iodobenzylbromide was performed and derivatives were analysed on a Poroshell C18 column with triple quadrupole MS detection. For all compounds, good recoveries were obtained; the decision limit CCα and the detection capability CCβ of five thyreostats do not exceed 2.2 and 3.8 μg L?1, respectively. Thirty-four samples of milk were tested for the presence of thyreostats; in 13, thiouracil was found above the decision limit. The highest concentration in raw milk reached a value of 4.2 μg L?1. To the authors’ knowledge, this study is the first to report the presence of naturally occurring thiouracil in cow’s milk.  相似文献

In this study, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were biosynthesised by using acidophilic actinobacterial SH11 strain isolated from pine forest soil. Isolate SH11 was identified based on 16S rRNA gene sequence to Streptomyces kasugaensis M338‐M1T and S. celluloflavus NRRL B‐2493T (99.8% similarity, both). Biosynthesised AgNPs were analysed by UV–visible spectroscopy, which revealed specific peak at λ  = 420 nm. Transmission electron microscopy analyses showed polydispersed, spherical nanoparticles with a mean size of 13.2 nm, while Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy confirmed the presence of proteins as the capping agents over the surface of AgNPs. The zeta potential was found to be −16.6 mV, which indicated stability of AgNPs. The antibacterial activity of AgNPs from SH11 strain against gram‐positive (Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis) and gram‐negative (Escherichia coli) bacteria was estimated using disc diffusion, minimum inhibitory concentration and live/dead analyses. The AgNPs showed the maximum antimicrobial activity against E. coli, followed by B. subtilis and S. aureus. Further, the synergistic effect of AgNPs in combination with commercial antibiotics (kanamycin, ampicillin, tetracycline) was also evaluated against bacterial isolates. Biomaterial scaffolds have served as the foundation of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. However, scaffold systems are often difficult to scale in size or shape in order to fit defect-specific dimensions, and thus provide only limited spatiotemporal control of therapeutic delivery and host tissue responses. Here, a lithography-based 3D printing strategy is used to fabricate a novel miniaturized modular microcage scaffold system, which can be assembled and scaled manually with ease. Scalability is based on an intuitive concept of stacking modules, like conventional toy interlocking plastic blocks, allowing for literally thousands of potential geometric configurations, and without the need for specialized equipment. Moreover, the modular hollow-microcage design allows each unit to be loaded with biologic cargo of different compositions, thus enabling controllable and easy patterning of therapeutics within the material in 3D. In summary, the concept of miniaturized microcage designs with such straight-forward assembly and scalability, as well as controllable loading properties, is a flexible platform that can be extended to a wide range of materials for improved biological performance.  相似文献

The waveguide modes in chemically-grown silver nanowires on silicon nitride substrates are observed using spectrally- and spatially-resolved cathodoluminescence (CL) excited by high-energy electrons in a scanning electron microscope. The presence of a long-range, travelling surface plasmon mode modulates the coupling efficiency of the incident electron energy into the nanowires, which is observed as oscillations in the measured CL with the point of excitation by the focused electron beam. The experimental data are modeled using the theory of surface plasmon polariton modes in cylindrical metal waveguides, enabling the complex mode wavenumbers and excitation strength of the long-range surface plasmon mode to be extracted. The experiments yield insight into the energy transfer mechanisms between fast electrons and coherent oscillations in surface charge density in metal nanowires and the relative amplitudes of the radiative processes excited in the wire by the electron.  相似文献

Through the use of new genomic and metabolomic technologies, our comprehension of the molecular and biochemical etiologies of genetic disorders is rapidly expanding, and so are insights into their varying phenotypes. Dosage compensation (lyonization) is an epigenetic mechanism that balances the expression of genes on heteromorphic sex chromosomes. Many studies in the literature have suggested a profound influence of this phenomenon on the manifestation of X-linked disorders in females. In this review, we summarize the clinical and genetic findings in female heterozygotic carriers of a pathogenic variant in one of ten selected X-linked genes whose defects result in metabolic disorders.  相似文献

In this research, we prepared foam scaffolds based on poly(l-lactide) (PLLA) and apatite whiskers (HAP) using thermally induced phase separation technique supported by the salt leaching process (TIPS-SL). Using sodium chloride having a size of (a) 150–315 μm, (b) 315–400 μm, and (c) 500–600 μm, three types of foams with different pore sizes have been obtained. Internal structure of the obtained materials has been investigated using SEM as well as μCT. The materials have been studied by means of porosity, density, and compression tests. As the most promising, the composite prepared with salt size of 500–600 μm was prepared also with the l-lysine modified apatite. The osteoblast hFOB 1.19 cell response for the scaffolds was also investigated by means of cell viability, proliferation, adhesion/penetration, and biomineralization. Direct contact cytotoxicity assay showed the cytocompatibility of the scaffolds. All types of foam scaffolds containing HAP whiskers, regardless the pore size or l-lysine modification induced significant stimulatory effect on the cal-cium deposits formation in osteoblasts. The PLLA/HAP scaffolds modified with l-lysine stimulated hFOB 1.19 osteoblasts proliferation. Compared to the scaffolds with smaller pores (150–315 µm and 315–400 µm), the PLLA/HAP foams with large pores (500–600 µm) promoted more effective ad-hesion of osteoblasts to the surface of the biomaterial.  相似文献
