This paper presents an optimum user-steered boundary tracking approach for image segmentation, which simulates the behavior of water flowing through a riverbed. The riverbed approach was devised using the image foresting transform with a never-exploited connectivity function. We analyze its properties in the derived image graphs and discuss its theoretical relation with other popular methods such as live wire and graph cuts. Several experiments show that riverbed can significantly reduce the number of user interactions (anchor points), as compared to live wire for objects with complex shapes. This paper also includes a discussion about how to combine different methods in order to take advantage of their complementary strengths.  相似文献

This work presents the design of LDMOS transistors fully compatible with a standard CMOS process, only requiring mask layout manipulation. A conventional 0.35 μm CMOS process was elected to demonstrate the viability of the approach. The prototyped LDMOS transistor exhibits a breakdown voltage of 24 V, which represents an improvement of 31% when compared with the high-voltage extended-drain NMOS available in the process library, while other static parameters remain in the same range. Furthermore, this solution enables the CMOS integration of a high-voltage pass-transistor, as a consequence of the formation of an isolated lightly doped p-type region inside the n-well.  相似文献

The continuous monitoring of the conversion, of Y, Cu and BaF2 precursors to form superconductor thin films has been achieved using a fluorine-specific-ion electrode immersed in an effluent gas-washing cell. High-quality thin films of YBa2Cu3O7-x deposited on NdGaO3, LaA103 and LaGaO3, have been produced by limiting the wet oxygen annealing phase of the post-deposition anneal. When the films were over-annealed in humidified oxygen the superconducting transition temperature as measured by inductive methods and the crystal quality, determined by x-ray rocking curves were degraded.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to present a novel methodology for assessing the quality of architecture solutions of hw/sw systems, with particular emphasis on testability. Criteria and metrics for quality assessment are proposed and used to assist the design team in selecting a best-fitted architecture that satisfies not only functional requirements, but also test requirements. The methodology makes use of object-oriented modeling techniques. Near-optimum clustering of methods and attributes into objects is carried out, in such a way that objects with moderate complexity, low coupling and high functional autonomy, result. In the last century, owing to the constant evolution of technologies telecommunication networks have become increasingly robust, being able to support multiple services. These services are part of the heterogeneous network traffic that can be carried through the Internet. Many of these services, including VoIP, are latency sensitive. In other words, this means that their quality depends directly on the network quality of service. Since users tend to become more sensitive with the instability and unavailability of the network, it is important to improve traffic management. A particular type of data that could be used to improve VoIP traffic management is the Internet Protocol Detail Record (IPDR). IPDRs are tickets created by all VoIP call attempts which contain a group of information related to the call history. Because of its full range of information, IPDRs can be used to create VoIP traffic baselines. In this paper, devices to devices communications underlaying cellular network techniques are proposed as an alternative to maximize spectral efficiency. This gain is obtained by the reuse of spectrum when different links are simultaneously established using the same resources. The cost of this technique is additional interference in cellular networks. The techniques presented in this paper propose a coordinated power control mechanism to allow resource sharing with low impact on cellular subscribers. Solutions are addressed for both OFDMA and WCDMA networks taking into account the unique requirements of both networks. In both situations, WCDMA–OFDMA coexistence is exploited and analyzed, using the nature of WCDMA spectrum and its robustness against narrowband interference thereby improving the probability of obtaining the sharing of cellular resources. For OFDM networks, WCDMA is used for mitigating the interference of cellular users and to obtain considerable gain in probability of reuse. For WCDMA networks, OFDMA is used to obtain higher throughput using the side frequencies of the spectrum where the cellular signal power is lower compared to the central frequencies.  相似文献

Video coding technologies have played a major role in the explosion of large market digital video applications and services. In this context, the very popular MPEG-x and H-26x video coding standards adopted a predictive coding paradigm, where complex encoders exploit the data redundancy and irrelevancy to ‘control’ much simpler decoders. This codec paradigm fits well applications and services such as digital television and video storage where the decoder complexity is critical, but does not match well the requirements of emerging applications such as visual sensor networks where the encoder complexity is more critical. The Slepian–Wolf and Wyner–Ziv theorems brought the possibility to develop the so-called Wyner–Ziv video codecs, following a different coding paradigm where it is the task of the decoder, and not anymore of the encoder, to (fully or partly) exploit the video redundancy. Theoretically, Wyner–Ziv video coding does not incur in any compression performance penalty regarding the more traditional predictive coding paradigm (at least for certain conditions). In the context of Wyner–Ziv video codecs, the so-called side information, which is a decoder estimate of the original frame to code, plays a critical role in the overall compression performance. For this reason, much research effort has been invested in the past decade to develop increasingly more efficient side information creation methods. This paper has the main objective to review and evaluate the available side information methods after proposing a classification taxonomy to guide this review, allowing to achieve more solid conclusions and better identify the next relevant research challenges. After classifying the side information creation methods into four classes, notably guess, try, hint and learn, the review of the most important techniques in each class and the evaluation of some of them leads to the important conclusion that the side information creation methods provide better rate-distortion (RD) performance depending on the amount of temporal correlation in each video sequence. It became also clear that the best available Wyner–Ziv video coding solutions are almost systematically based on the learn approach. The best solutions are already able to systematically outperform the H.264/AVC Intra, and also the H.264/AVC zero-motion standard solutions for specific types of content.  相似文献

Over the last few years, embedded software synthesis has drawn much attention. However, few works deal with software synthesis for hard real-time systems considering arbitrary inter-tasks precedence and exclusion relations. Code generation for meeting all timing and resource constraints is not a trivial task. Thus, this research area has several open issues, mainly related to generation of predictable-guaranteed scheduled code. The method proposed in this paper starts from a high-level specification, and automatically translates such specification into a time Petri net model; this model is adopted for finding a feasible static schedule meeting all constraints. If found, the approach generates a scheduled code, based on the found feasible schedule. Therefore, the user just enter the specification and receives, as result, the scheduled code. Thus, all intermediary phases are hidden from the users.  相似文献

The influence of crystal thickness of metal-coated <100>-cut GaAs (M-G-M) on Cherenkov-phase-matched terahertz (THz) pulse detection was studied. The M-G-M detectors were utilized in conjunction with a metallic tapered parallel-plate waveguide (TPPWG). Polarization-sensitive measurements were carried out to exemplify the efficacy of GaAs in detecting transverse magnetic (TM)- and transverse electric (TE)-polarized THz waves. The reduction of GaAs’ thickness increased the THz amplitude spectra of the detected TM-polarized THz electro-optic (EO) signal due to enhanced electric field associated with a more tightly-focused and well-concentrated THz radiation on the thinner M-G-M. The higher-fluence THz beam coupled to the thinner M-G-M improved the integrated intensity of the detected THz amplitude spectrum. This trend was not observed for TE-polarized THz waves, wherein the integrated intensities were almost comparable. Nevertheless, good agreement of spectral line shapes of the superposed TM- and TE-polarized THz-EO signals with that of elliptically polarized THz-EO signal demonstrates excellent polarization-resolved detection capabilities of M-G-M via Cherenkov-phase-matched EO sampling technique.  相似文献

One of the major concerns of IPTV network deployment is channel change delay (also known as zapping delay). This delay can add up to 2 s or more, and its main culprits are synchronisation and buffering of the media streams. Proving the importance of the problem is the already significant amount of literature addressing it. We start this paper with a survey of techniques proposed to reduce IPTV channel change delay.Then, by analysing an extensive dataset from an operational IPTV provider - comprising 255 thousand users, 150 TV channels, and covering a 6-month period - we have observed that most channel switching events are relatively predictable: users very frequently switch linearly, up or down to the next TV channel. This fact motivated us to use this dataset to analyse in detail a specific type of solutions to this problem, namely, predictive pre-joining of TV channels. In these schemes each set top box (STB) simultaneously joins additional multicast groups (TV channels) along with the one that is requested by the user. If the user switches to any of these channels the switching latency is virtually eliminated, not affecting therefore user's experience.We start by evaluating a simple scheme, where the neighbouring channels (i.e., channels adjacent to the requested one) are pre-joined by the STB during zapping periods. Notwithstanding the simplicity of this scheme, trace-driven simulations show that the zapping delay can be virtually eliminated for a significant percentage of channel switching requests. For example, when sending the previous and the next channel concurrently with the requested one, for only 1 min after a zapping event, switching delay is eliminated for close to half of all channel switching requests. Importantly, this result is achieved with a negligible increase of bandwidth utilisation in the access link. Other more complex schemes where user behaviour is tracked were also evaluated, but the improvement over the simple scheme was insignificant.  相似文献
