A new product distribution formulation for fischer-Tropsch synthesis. Effect of metal crystallite size distribution

A new product distribution formulation is presented for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS). This formulation, which contains the effect of the metal crystallite size on the product selectivity, can explain all possible Fischer-Tropsch product distributions. The Anderson-Shulz-Flory distribution formulation can be regarded as its approximation in special cases.     

Effects of supplement additives on anaerobic biogas production

Anaerobic digestion (AD) converts biomass to biogas. However, its performance is often affected by the nutrient condition of AD substrate. In this study, a few substrate supplements were selected to promote the biogas production; MgO, FeCl₃, and cellulase were selected based on the result from elemental analyses of the biomass. The potential impact of the additives on AD process was evaluated by performing a series of biochemical methane potential (BMP) tests. BMP reactors with the substrate with one of the selected additives (i.e., MgO of 380 mg Mg L^?1, FeCl₃ of 88 mg Fe L^?1 or cellulase of 25 mg L^?1) exhibited higher microbial activity; 5–15% more biogas production was observed, compared to the blank. Microbial community analysis showed that different additives resulted in proliferation of different microbial species. Therefore, it was decided to add the mixture of the three additives to the biomass. Addition of the mixed additive resulted in 22% more gas production.

Effect of cotton cellulose manufacturing conditions on process quality indexes

The possibility of fabricating cotton cellulose from linters with a process scheme which provides for altering the order of the stages of alkaline and acid cooking was investigated. The molecular and process indexes of the cellulose obtained were determined. The possibility of fabricating cotton cellulose with a satisfactory content of α-cellulose, degree of polymerization, and reactivity was demonstrated.     

利用固液扩散偶研究Mg-40Al与Mg-20Ce的界面反应

本文主要研究了Mg-40Al与Mg-20Ce固液界面在475°C, 500°C和525°C下保温5min至30min的界面反应和扩散层的生长动力学。结果发现,在扩散层中由于Al元素和Ce元素反应生成Al₁₁Ce₃, Al₃Ce and Al₂Ce金属化合物。金属化合物的体积分数随着扩散温度的升高而增加。扩散层的生长满足抛物线生长规律,扩散层的扩散激活能为42±3.7kJ/mol。实验研究的固液扩散为理解合金熔炼过程中金属化合物的形成提供了理论基础。     

Medical-economic models of benign prostatic hypertrophy

This article is designed to explain the importance of medico-economic models for evaluation of the impact of treatments of benign prostatic hyperplasia. The authors illustrate this approach by comparing two hypotheses: transurethral resection of the prostate versus watchful waiting using a Markov type of model. This model is able to simulate the probability of development of events such as transurethral resection of the prostate, acute urinary retention over a 40-year period by 3-month cycles. The model is also able to simulate the mean cost of management of a patient over this period. This type of model may appear slightly artificial and complicated, but it is the only model which could allow long-term simulations of the respective value of the various therapeutic strategies for BPH. This type of model is also evolutive, its performance is gradually improved as new data become available in the literature, allowing refinement of a number of hypotheses.     

贵溪发电厂5号发电机励磁系统仿真及分析

通过对贵溪电厂5号机励磁系统进行频域、时域仿真分析和参数计算,并与现场实测结果进行分析和比对,确立了励磁系统PID各环节的参数,完成厂家提供的励磁系统原始模型向PSASP程序固定模型的转换,为系统稳定计算提供基础数据。     

Effect of pre rigor stretching on beef tenderness development

The objective of this study was to determine effects of pre rigor stretching on beef tenderness development. Beef loins (M. longissimus dorsi; n=24) were assigned to either stretching or non-stretching treatments and aged for 14days at -1.5°C. Sarcomere length, shear force, water-holding capacity and proteolysis were determined for the loins at 1, 7 and 14days of ageing. Stretching increased the length of the loins by 33% resulting in a trend of increasing sarcomere length (P=0.19). However, no significant differences for shear force values, purge, drip and cooking losses between treatments were found. Shear force values decreased with ageing times (P<0.05). Western blot assay found that stretching did not affect the extent of desmin degradation. The findings from the present study suggest that pre rigor stretching with the current increase in length will not contribute to tenderness improvement of the beef loins.
