Abstract

A large portion of the literature about business and information systems is written at the grand, strategic level. That is certainly the case for the first two books reviewed in this column. One deals with the broad implications of the shift of routine IT work to Asia and the potential for this shift to expand into development and concepts. The other presents a framework for ameliorating IT risk. The third book is concerned with the nitty gritty of the little decisions, made over and over, in day-to-day operations. The focus is on ways of improving and automating these decisions to gain strategic advantage. And, as you would expect, this third book is much longer and much more detailed than the first two.  相似文献

This paper proposes a methodology to compute quadratic performance bounds when the closed loop poles of a discrete-time multivariable control loop are confined to a disk, centred at the origin, and with radius less than one. The underlying philosophy in this constraint is to avoid certain undesirable dynamic features which arise in quadratic optimal designs. An expression for the performance loss due to the pole location constraint is also provided. Using numerical examples, we show that the performance loss is compensated by an improved transient performance, specially visible in the control signals.  相似文献

Multi-display groupware (MDG) systems, which typically comprise both public and personal displays, promise to enhance collaboration, yet little is understood about how they differ in use from single-display groupware (SDG) systems. While research has established the technical feasibility of MDG systems, evaluations have not addressed the question of how users’ behave in such environments, how their interface design can impact group behavior, or what advantages they offer for collaboration. This paper presents a user study that investigates the impact of display configuration and software interface design on taskwork and teamwork. Groups of three completed a collaborative optimization task in single- and multi-display environments, under different task interface constraints. Our results suggest that MDG configurations offer advantages for performing individual task duties, whereas SDG conditions offer advantages for coordinating access to shared resources. The results also reveal the importance of ergonomic design considerations when designing co-located groupware systems.  相似文献

We carefully selected a group of chemical engineering scientists internationally recognized as top-scientists in their field. A method has been developed to systematically compare bibliometric characteristics of these top-scientists with an average scientist in chemical engineering. This method also includes citation-analysis of books and proceedings. The results show a very clear bibliometric profile. First, top-scientists references are more numerous and, fourth, they concern more recent literature. Our fifth findings is that the journals used by top-scientists for their publications are representative for the field of chemical engineering as a whole. But they differ in specific aspects significantly from the average journal structure in chemical engineering: the published work of top-scientists is both general as well as more specialistic than the average work in chemical engineering.  相似文献

Previous NMR microimaging studies at 360 MHz have demonstrated a clear differentiation between the nucleus and cytoplasm in isolated single neurons. In particular, theT 2 of the cell nucleus is 2.5 times larger than that of the cytoplasm. In order to determine the magnitude of possibleT 2 * influences on these observations, images of single cells have been obtained at 500 MHz using spin-echo and line-narrowing sequences. Comparison of the images acquired by the two sequences, and of the spin-echo images at 360 and 500 MHz, imply that anyT 2 * contributions are relatively small. Consequently, the measuredT 2 differences in spin-echo imaging represent a true difference in theT 2 relaxation in the two cellular compartments.  相似文献

Natural mixtures of sophorolipids produced by the yeast Candida bombicola have been analyzed by fast atom bombardment (FAB)-MS and collision-induced dissociation (CID)-MS. Some pure components have been analysed by two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy. The presence of acidic, lactonic, and O-acetylated forms and the position of double bonds in the fatty acid part of these glycolipids can be easily inferred from positive and negative ion FAB-mass spectra. Details about position of O-acetylation can be obtained from CID mass spectra of [M+H]+ and [M-H]- ions and from the NMR spectra. Differences in CID fragmentation between protonated and sodiated molecular ions are discussed in detail. Enzymatic hydrolysis of 6',6"-di-O-acetyl sophorolipid lactone by cutinase from Fusarium solani results specifically in the removal of the 6'-O-acetyl group, whereas the 6"-O-acetyl and lactone group are resistant. This specificity is explained from a three-dimensional model of the sophorolipid generated on the basis of the short 1H,1H distances as inferred from the NMR (ROESY) spectra.  相似文献

Advancing hole transport layers (HTL) to realize large-area, flexible, and high-performance perovskite solar cells (PSCs) is one of the most challenging issues for its commercialization. Here, a self-assembled gradient Ti3C2Tx MXene incorporated PEDOT:PSS HTL is demonstrated to achieve high-performance large-area PSCs by establishing half-caramelization-based glucose-induced MXene redistribution. Through this process, the Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets are spontaneously dispersed and redistributed at the top region of HTL to form the unique gradient distribution structure composed of MXene:Glucose:PEDOT:PSS (MG-PEDOT). These results show that the MG-PEDOT HTL not only offers favorable energy level alignment and efficient charge extraction, but also improves the film quality of perovskite layer featuring enlarged grain size, lower trap density, and longer carrier lifetime. Consequently, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of the flexible device based on MG-PEDOT HTL is increased by 36% compared to that of pristine PEDOT:PSS HTL. Meanwhile, the flexible perovskite solar minimodule (15 cm2 area) using MG-PEDOT HTL achieve a PCE of 17.06%. The encapsulated modules show remarkable long-term storage stability at 85 °C in ambient air (≈90% efficiency retention after 1200 h) and enhanced operational lifetime (≈90% efficiency retention after 200 h). This new approach shows a promising future of the self-assembled HTLs for developing optoelectronic devices.  相似文献
