Thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers (TPU) and polyethylene (PE) form immiscible blends with an extremely low compatibility. In order to improve the dispersion, stability, and properties of these blends, polyethylene was grafted with maleic anhydride (PE-g-MA). Subsequently, it was blended with a commercial polyester - type TPU in a twin-screw extruder. With PE-g-MA as blend component, the particle size was dramatically reduced in comparison with PE. Coalescence was significantly reduced and the increase in particle size with composition was less pronounced than in blends with PE. In addition, the phase adhesion and the mechanical properties were improved by using PE-g-MA as minor component. Grafting of the MA onto the PE leads to a decrease of the molecular weight, the melt viscosity, and the mechanical properties of the pure PE. Hence, the reactive blend system exhibits a lower viscosity ratio. Comparison of these results with those from uncompatibilized blends with different viscosity ratios revealed that the reduction in viscosity ratio has a big influence on the blend morphology and because of that on the mechanical properties. In addition, there is a further effect on morphology and properties caused by the reduction in interfacial tension, which results from the compatibilizer formed at the interface.  相似文献

Übersicht Dieser Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit der meßtechnischen Bestimmung des Wirkungsgrades von Induktionsmotoren mit Käfigläufer mit dem Einzelver-lustverfahren nach IEC 60034-2 und der Methode B nach IEEE 112. Für beide Verfahren werden die Verlustanteile und deren Ermittlung diskutiert und dabei insbesondere die Unterschiede in der Berechnung der lastabhängigen Zusatzverluste aufgezeigt. Die Arbeit stützt sich auf Messungen an Käfigläufermotoren unterschiedlicher Leistung.
Determination of the efficiency of induction machines by different standardized methods
Contents This paper deals with the determination of the efficiency of squirrel-cage induction motors by both the loss-summation method of IEC 60034-2 and method B of IEEE 112. The proceedings according to both standardizations are described and compared, especially those parts regarding the determination of stray-load losses. The discussion is based on measurement results taken of squirrel-cage motors in a relatively wide range of rated output.

A one-dimensional mathematical model was developed to simulate pH control using an encapsulated phosphate buffer during denitrification in a sand column. The parameters required for the model were obtained from direct physical measurement, from a tracer study to characterize the dispersion coefficient in the column, and from batch experiments designed to obtain an empirical expression describing the variation of the first-order rate constant for the encapsulated buffer core release with pH. First-order kinetic constants describing the rates of denitrification and ethanol biodegradation were obtained by fitting the model to column runs without the encapsulated buffer. With these parameters, the model was subsequently used to predict the performance of column runs containing the encapsulated buffer. Since denitrification was essentially complete in the sand columns, an increase in the effluent pH was observed. This pH increase was counteracted by the controlled release of the acidic core of the encapsulated buffers added in the columns. The model reasonably predicted the release of the encapsulated buffer core and the performance of the encapsulated buffer for controlling pH in the column.  相似文献

The effect of simultaneous addition of multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) and a reactive compatibilizer (styrene maleic anhydride copolymer, SMA) during melt‐mixing on the phase morphology of 80/20 (wt/wt) PA6/ABS blend has been investigated. Morphological analysis through scanning and transmission electron microscopic analysis revealed finer morphology of the blends in presence of SMA + MWNTs. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopic analysis indicated the formation of imide bonds during melt‐mixing. Non‐isothermal crystallization studies exhibited the presence of a majority faction of MWNTs in the PA6 phase of 80/20 (wt/wt) PA6/ABS blend in presence of SMA + MWNTs. Rheological analysis, dynamic mechanical thermal analysis, and thermogravimetric analysis have demonstrated the compatibilization action of simultaneous addition of a reactive compatibilizer (SMA copolymer) and MWNTs in PA6/ABS blends. An attempt has been made to investigate the role of simultaneous addition of SMA copolymer and MWNTs on the morphology of 80/20 (wt/wt) PA6/ABS blend through various characterization techniques. 2‐Methylerythritol 2,4‐cyclodiphosphate synthase (IspF) is an essential enzyme for the biosynthesis of isoprenoid precursors in plants and many human pathogens. The protein is an attractive target for the development of anti‐infectives and herbicides. Using a photometric assay, a screen of 40 000 compounds on IspF from Arabidopsis thaliana afforded symmetrical aryl bis‐sulfonamides that inhibit IspF from A. thaliana (AtIspF) and Plasmodium falciparum (PfIspF) with IC50 values in the micromolar range. The ortho‐bis‐sulfonamide structural motif is essential for inhibitory activity. The best derivatives obtained by parallel synthesis showed IC50 values of 1.4 μm against PfIspF and 240 nm against AtIspF. Substantial herbicidal activity was observed at a dose of 2 kg ha?1. Molecular modeling studies served as the basis for an in silico search targeted at the discovery of novel, non‐symmetrical sulfonamide IspF inhibitors. The designed compounds were found to exhibit inhibitory activities in the double‐digit micromolar IC50 range.  相似文献

Grinding processes can be optimized by simulating the influence of individual grains on process forces and surface topographies. However, the process results are significantly influenced by tool wear. Simulating this effect allows, e.g., the prediction of necessary tool changes when manufacturing large forming tools. Therefore, a new point-based approach for modeling arbitrarily shaped grains in different states of tool wear was developed. Based on a small amount of representative wear investigations, a flexible tool model was defined, which can be used for various tool shapes without further experiments. This model can be applied for grinding processes with varying engagement situations.  相似文献
