Pharmaceutical compounds and their derivatives are major pollutants in the environment, as their metabolites affect the terrestrial as well as aquatic organisms in one or another way. In recent times, many papers have discussed the treatment procedures for single pharmaceutical and mixture of pharmaceutical components, but only few papers have discussed the fate and the exposure of pharmaceutical contaminants in our environment. In this paper, we discuss the sources and the forms of pharmaceutical products and their resultant in the environment and their addition to the microbial and to human communities. A detailed discussion of various treatment techniques from conventional to current techniques, their advantages and disadvantages is given here. Researchers are finding the techniques in order to completely degrade the contaminants and their transformed products from the environment. Among the technique, s nanotechnology was found to be an efficient technique, and the combination of nanotechnology with other conventional technologies gives higher removal efficiency.  相似文献

An epoxy nano-composite coating was developed using amine functionalized nZnO (in the amount of 2.5 %, 5.0 % and 7.5 wt %) as the dispersed phase and a commercially available epoxy resin as the matrix phase. The structural features of these materials were ascertained by FT-IR spectral studies. The anti-corrosive properties of the epoxy/nZnO hybrid coatings in comparison with a virgin coating were investigated by a salt spray test and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy technique. The surface morphology determined by SEM, indicates that nZnO particles were dispersed homogenously through the epoxy polymer matrix. The results showed improved antifouling and anticorrosive properties for epoxy-nZnO hybrid coatings.  相似文献

A detailed surface characterizations and adsorption mechanism of Cd2+ on chemical activated carbon (CAC) prepared from Garnicia mangostana shell were investigated. The activation is accomplished in self-generating atmosphere using phosphoric acid as activating agent. The characterizations performed are elemental analysis, functional group identification, N2 adsorption isotherm and surface charges. Adsorption mechanism of metal ion was tested using Cd2+ as model ion. CAC achieved BET surface area of 1,498 m2/g with a mixture of micro and mesopores. The point of zero charge is observed to be at pH 2.8 and the optimum pH for Cd2+ adsorption on CAC is 12. The adsorption isotherm followed the Freundlich model, and the adsorption kinetics was explained by pseudo-second order kinetic model. From thermodynamic studies, the adsorption was found to be physical adsorption. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) confirmed the adsorption of Cd2+ onto CAC as +2 oxidation state.  相似文献

At present, the potential role of the AgNPs/endo-fullerene molecule metal nano-composite has been evaluated over the biosystems in-vitro. The intra-atomic configuration of the fullerene molecule (C60) has been studied in-vitro for the anti-proliferative activity of human breast adenocarcinoma (MDA-MB-231) cell lines and antimicrobial activity against a few human pathogens that have been augmented with the pristine surface plasmonic electrons and antibiotic activity of AgNPs. Furthermore, FTIR revealed the basic vibrational signatures at ~3300 cm−1, 1023 cm−1, 1400 cm−1 for O-H, C-O, and C-H groups, respectively, for the carbon and oxygen atoms of the C60 molecule. NMR studies exhibited the different footprints and magnetic moments at ~7.285 ppm, explaining the unique underlying electrochemical attributes of the fullerene molecule. Such unique electronic and physico-chemical properties of the caged carbon structure raise hope for applications into the drug delivery domain. The in-vitro dose-dependent application of C60 elicits a toxic response against both the breast adenocarcinoma cell lines and pathogenic microbes. That enables the use of AgNPs decorated C60 endo fullerene molecules to design an effective anti-cancerous drug delivery and antimicrobial agent in the future, bringing a revolutionary change in the perspective of a treatment regime.  相似文献

A highly ordered silver nanorod array (AgNRs) with a diameter of 90?nm has been prepared by chemical reduction from silver nitrate in a porous anodic aluminium oxide (AAO) membrane. The AAO membrane was fabricated electrochemically in an oxalic acid solution via a one-step anodisation process, followed by the growth of silver NR in the long-range ordered nanochannels of the AAO membrane via chemical reduction. The morphologies of AAO membrane and AgNRs with periodic rows of air-pockets encapsulated in the AAO membrane have been investigated using TEM. The crystalline structure and chemical composition have been confirmed by XRD, TEM and EDX techniques. The process, which has three stages, namely, (1) anodising of aluminium foil to form a mesoporous membrane, (2) adsorption of metal ions, then (3) chemical reduction of the adsorbed metal ions to form the nanorod array of AgNRs in the pores of AAO membrane, has not, to the authors’ knowledge, been reported to date.  相似文献

Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) have many interesting properties, mainly light weight, cost efficiency, low density, high compressive strength, high hardness and durability. Hence, they emerged as a boon to the development of personnel armors in the past. The current work aims to review various new methodologies adapted for the reinforcement of Alumina (Al2O3) CMCs in recent times, including some of the interesting results obtained with respect to mechanical properties, suitability of the synthesized composites for armor applications, and the upcoming reinforcement trends. Finally, studies related to reinforcement in Al2O3 CMCs, specifically towards armor applications have been consolidated to arrive at some of the important inferences for concluding reasonably.  相似文献

Reactive power compensation is an important issue in the control of electric power system. Reactive power from the source increases the transmission losses and reduces the power transmission capability of the transmission lines. Moreover, reactive power should not be transmitted through the transmission line to a longer distance. Hence Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) devices such as static compensator (STATCOM) unified power flow controller (UPFC) and static volt–ampere compensator (SVC) are used to alleviate these problems. In this paper, a voltage source converter (VSC) based STATCOM is developed with PI and Artificial Neural Network Controller (ANNC). The conventional PI controller has more tuning difficulties while the system parameter changes, whereas a trained neural network requires less computation time. The ANNC has the ability to generalize and can interpolate in between the training data. The ANNC designed was tested on a 75 V, ±3KVAR STATCOM in real time environment via state-of-the-art of digital signal processor advanced control engineering (dSPACE) DS1104 board and it was found that it was producing better results than the PI controller.  相似文献

Polynorbornene dicarboxylic anhydride (PNA)/fluorosilica hybrid coating materials with good hydrophobicity, oleophobicity, transparency, thermal stability, and hardness were synthesised using a sol–gel method. The surface structure, transparency, hydrophobicity, oleophobicity, and surface free energy of the coating could be controlled by adjusting the fluorosilane ratio. The maximum static water and oil contact angles of films were 112° and 87°, respectively. The PNA/fluorosilica hybrid films exhibited good transparency and colourlessness. The marks written using water and oil-based pens on the films could be erased with a tissue even after eight times. In addition, the hardness of the hybrid films was enhanced to 4H with increasing fluorosilane content.  相似文献
