The mechanism of the environmentally important reaction between permanganate anion and trichloroethene (TCE) has been studied theoretically using modern DFT functional. It has been shown that IEFPCM/M05-2X/aug-cc-pVDZ theory level yields activation parameters and carbon isotopic fractionation factor in excellent agreement with the experimental data. Obtained results indicate that this reaction proceeds via the 3+2 mechanism with a very early transition state, in which the new C-O bonds are formed only in about 20%. An alternative, stepwise mechanism that involves initial formation of a single new C-O bond and a C-Mn bond, followed by rearrangement to the permanganate-TCE adduct, has been found to be more energetically demanding and in disagreement with the experimental isotopic fractionation. 相似文献

There is no scientific consensus regarding the safety of the Yellow Knight mushroom Tricholoma equestre (L.) P.Kumm. Following reports of cases of intoxication involving effects such as rhabdomyolysis, and supportive observations from in vivo experimental models, T. equestre is considered as a poisonous mushroom in some countries while in others it is still widely collected from the wild and consumed every year. In this paper, we review all the available information on T. equestre including its morphological and molecular characterization, nutritional value, levels of contaminants observed in fruiting bodies, the possibility of mistake with species that are morphologically similar, and the in vivo data on safety and cases of human intoxication. Based on available data, it is suggested that T. equestre cannot be considered as a toxic species and does not appear to exhibit any greater health threat than other mushroom species currently considered as edible. More care should be taken when reporting cases of human poisoning to fully identify T. equestre as the causative agent and to exclude a number of interfering factors. Specific guidelines for reporting future cases of poisoning with T. equestre are outlined in this paper. Any future research involving T. equestre should present the results of molecular phylogenetic analyses. 相似文献

The aim of this work was to determine modifying effects of lactic fermentation and extrusion processes on functionality of lupin proteins. Protein content, surface hydrophobicity, water absorption capacity (WAC), water solubility index (WSI) and emulsifying properties (EAI, ESI) of protein preparations obtained from lupin seeds (Lupinus luteus, Lupinus albus, Lupinus angustifolius), with various contents of hull, were analyzed. Changes of protein properties were affected by lupin cultivar, hull content and applied processing method. An increase of soluble protein content after controlled lactic fermentation of lupin seeds, and changes of surface protein hydrophobicity, WAC and WSI values after each treatment and significant worsening of protein emulsifying properties were observed. The elemental composition of honey is correlated with the botanical provenience of nectar, pollen, and honeydew that are collected and ripened by bees. In addition to this, the geographical origin related to the locality of an apiary, the soil composition, and climatic conditions may contribute to the origin of elements in honey. The environmental pollution or other anthropogenic processes and activities also have an effect on the quality and the safety of honey since they may be accompanying sources that lead to its contamination and the presence of various trace elements (Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Ni, Pb, and Zn). This review article covers the literature devoted to the analysis of honey carried out by the most popular and commonly utilized flame atomic absorption and emission spectrometry, which was published from 1999 to 2011. Various aspects of such analysis are treated in detail, including ways of the sample preparation, the calibration, and the quality assurance of results. In addition, methods and results related to the fractionation analysis of elements in honey by means of chromatographic and non-chromatographic approaches are described. 相似文献

Total (non-fractionated) kernel proteins and the prolamin fraction (soluble in 75% ethanol) were extracted from oat (Avena sativa) var. Flämingstern kernel and from buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum) var. Kora kernel. As for buckwheat, extraction was effective only after kernel dehulling which allowed the removal of tannins and phenolic compounds that form complexes with proteins during extraction. The extracted proteins were analyzed using two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (2D-PAGE). Gels of the prolamin fractions of oat and buckwheat were used as reference gels in order to detect prolamins on gels of total kernel proteins. The occurrence of 26 and 29 spots corresponding to prolamins was found on gels of total oat proteins and on gels of total buckwheat proteins, respectively. The electrophoretic images of oat and buckwheat prolamins revealed organized subregions containing spots with similar isoelectric points (pI) and various molecular weights (MW), mostly on oat prolamin gels and spots of similar molecular weights with various isoelectric points, mostly on buckwheat prolamin gels. The character of plum brandies depends on a unique aroma profile of the plum and the microbiota present on the surface of the fruits, as well as yeast used for fermentation. In this study, an evaluation of the effect of microorganisms applied for the fermentation of W?gierka Zwyk?a var. plum mashes and processing temperature (18 °C, 30 °C) on its efficiency and volatile profile, as well as taste and flavour of distillates obtained was performed. An estimation of the odour activity values (OAVs) of the volatile compounds was also conducted. Regardless of whether the fermentation was carried out using Saccharomyces bayanus wine yeast or by native microflora present on plums as well as raisins, the efficiency of this process was high and ranged between 91.7 and 96.7% of the theoretical efficiency. Especially rich in esters (among others ethyl acetate and isoamyl acetate) was the distillate derived after fermentation with the microflora of plums and raisins, at 18 °C. An evaluation of the individual aromatic effect of chemical compounds present in tested distillates, in terms of their OAVs, revealed that the highest OAVs were reached with isovaleraldehyde. Other compounds that showed aroma values >1 and possibly had an effect on the overall aroma of tested plum distillates were the following: hexanal, benzaldehyde, ethyl acetate, isoamyl acetate, ethyl benzoate, ethyl hexanoate, 1‐propanol, 2‐methyl‐1‐butanol, 3‐methyl‐1‐butanol and 1‐hexanol. The performed sensory ranking showed that the best rated distillate was the one obtained after fermentation with the indigenous microflora of plums and raisins, at 18 °C. Campylobacter-associated gastroenteritis remains an important cause of morbidity worldwide, and some evidence suggests that poultry is an important source of this foodborne infection in humans. This study was conducted to analyze the prevalence and genetic background of resistance of 149 Campylobacter jejuni and 54 Campylobacter coli strains isolated from broiler chicken carcasses and from stool samples of infected children in Poland from 2003 through 2005. Nearly all isolates were susceptible to macrolides and aminoglycosides. The highest resistance in both human and chicken strains was observed for ciprofloxacin (more than 40%), followed by ampicillin (13 to 21%), and tetracycline (8 to 29%). Resistance to ampicillin and tetracycline rose significantly between 2003 and 2005. Slight differences in resistance between human and chicken isolates indicate that although chicken meat is not the only source of Campylobacter infection in our population, it can be involved in the transmission of drug-resistant Campylobacter strains to humans. 相似文献

Butyltins (BTs) and phenyltins (PhTs) were determined in the livers of marine mammals found by-caught or stranded along the Polish coast of the Baltic Sea. During the investigation an original analytical method was developed. Butyltin compounds were detected in all the liver samples, whereas phenyltins were not detected in any of the samples. The total concentrations of BTs ranged from 43.9 to 7698 ng(Sn) x g(-1) dry weight. Age-related trends to accumulate BTs in immature porpoises were found. At the same time there were no male-female differences in BTs concentrations observed. No statistically significant spatial distribution differences were found between the locations corresponding to the open Baltic Sea waters and inside the Gulf of Gdańsk, which is characterized by high maritime activity. In comparison to butyltin levels in marine mammals from other geographic regions, the samples analyzed indicate a significant degree of tributyltin pollution along the Polish coast of the Baltic Sea. On the basis of a literature review, higher BT levels are usually found in waters close to highly industrialized areas, such as Japan, Hong Kong, and the United States. 相似文献

The investigation included kale, New Zealand spinach and spinach. The evaluation covered the raw material; the raw material
after blanching; the raw material after cooking; and frozen products prepared for consumption after 0, 4, 8 and 12 months
of refrigerated storage. Both the traditional method of freezing (blanching before freezing) and the modified method of freezing
(cooked before freezing) were used in the experiment, as well as two storage temperatures, T = −20 °C and T = −30 °C. The content of chlorophylls in fresh kale was four times that in New Zealand spinach and 1.5 times that in spinach.
With the exception of New Zealand spinach, blanching and cooking significantly reduced the content of chlorophylls. In kale
products prepared for consumption, the content of chlorophylls decreased in each successive stage of the investigation. In
products of New Zealand spinach and spinach, the losses were usually not significant. After 12 months of refrigerated storage,
frozen kale products prepared for consumption retained 52–65% of total chlorophylls compared with the content in the raw material;
products of New Zealand spinach and spinach retained 66–71%. In kale and New Zealand spinach, the content of chlorophyll a
decreased more rapidly than that of chlorophyll b, while in spinach the converse was true. The kale products obtained using
the modified method contained more chlorophylls, while in the two spinach species their content was lower. The lower storage
temperature resulted in a higher retention of chlorophylls in vegetables. 相似文献

In this work, the analysis of the plasma modification of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) substrates was conducted. The influence of the modification onto the changes occurred within the geometrical structure and chemical composition of the surface was analyzed. Due to the study of the atomic force microscopy, it was possible to determine the relationships between the surface development and applied process parameters, defining the conditions facilitating to obtain isotropic or anisotropic orientations of wrinkles. A precise analysis of the chemical composition of the surface, executed before and after the modification processes, enabled to define the changes in their elementary composition. Moreover, the modification influence onto the changes of the contact angle and the surface free energy were also analyzed. So, based on the research it was stated that the increase of value of the surface free energy is proportional to the sp3 phase contents in the DLC coatings. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl.
