In technical applications strain gauges are widely used. Apart from conventional polymer foil based strain gauges that are glued to the work piece surface, sputtered strain gauges are already commercially used in special applications. Those sputter strain gauges are typically made of NiCr alloy and the sensor layer is as sensitive to strain as the ones used in the glued strain gauges with a gauge factor of 2, but neglecting problems of creeping and swelling of the involved polymer materials. Diamond-like carbon (DLC) films offer significantly higher strain sensitivity, but usually they are also very sensitive to temperature effects. Using metal doped diamond-like carbon (Me-DLC), higher strain sensitivity than conventional metal based systems, in combination with thermal compensation, is possible. The influence of different process parameters on the gauge factor and temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of DLC and Me-DLC films produced in industrial sputtering systems was investigated. Gauge factors up to 13 in combination with a high negative TCR in the range of a few thousand ppm/K were reached with sputtered DLC films. The substrate bias voltage in particular showed a strong influence on the resulting gauge factor of the films. For Me-DLC films different deposition methods (dc and rf sputtering) and various doping metals (Ag, Ni, Ti, and W) were investigated. Using dc sputtering of the Me-DLC films only Ni-DLC showed gauge factors slightly higher than 2. Furthermore, only for Ni-DLC zero crossing of the TCR was observed by variation of the metal content. Using rf excitation especially Ni-DLC films showed gauge factors exceeding values of 15 in combination with a TCR close to zero. 相似文献

We report on the effective reduction of AlN host lattice defect cathodoluminescence by high dose ion implantation of light elements such as fluorine as well as chlorine and neon with peak concentrations of 1 at.%. In order to distinguish between luminescence suppression in the visible to luminescence quenching due to radiation damage, all samples were additionally implanted with europium at fluences of 1 · 1013 ions/cm2. After annealing the samples at 1373 K under vacuum conditions cathodoluminescence spectra were recorded at room temperature (300 K) and at cryogenic temperature (12 K). These investigations reveal that different light ion species have different influences on the defect luminescence of the AlN host lattice which is likely due to selective passivation of these defects. The best ratio of defect luminescence suppression to radiation damage induced luminescence quenching is achieved in the case of fluorine co-doping. 相似文献

Reducing micropollutant pollution of water bodies is an important objective of water management and an integral part of environmental policy. Ceramic nanofiltration membranes were developed as multichannel membranes of increased membrane area and rotating disk filters. The membranes developed show retention of over 80 % for PEG 400. The membranes are currently being tested for the separation of micropollutants from wastewater contaminated with pharmaceuticals. The induction of apoptosis, a highly regulated and clearly defined mode of cell dying, is a vital tenet of modern cancer therapy. In this review we focus on three aspects of apoptosis research which we believe are the most crucial and most exciting areas currently investigated and that will need to be better understood in order to enhance the efficacy of therapeutic measures. First, we discuss which target to select for cancer therapy and argue that not the cancer cell as such, but its interaction with the microenvironment is a more promising and genetically stable site of attack. Second, the complexity of combination therapy is elucidated using the PI3-K-mediated signaling network as a specific example. Here we show that the current clinical approach to sensitize malignancies to apoptosis by maximal, prolonged inhibition of so-called survival pathways can actually be counter productive. Third, we propose that under certain conditions which will need to be clearly defined in future, chronification of a tumor might be preferable to the attempt at a cure. Finally, we discuss further problems with utilizing apoptosis induction in cancer therapy and propose a novel potential therapeutic approach that combines the previously discussed features. 相似文献

This work aimed at identifying the tensile deformation mechanisms of an original grade of plasticized polylactide (pPLA) obtained by reactive extrusion. This material had a glass transition temperature of 32.6 °C and consisted of a polylactide (PLA) matrix grafted with poly(acryl‐poly(ethylene glycol)) (poly(Acryl‐PEG)) inclusions. pPLA behaved like a rubber‐toughened amorphous polymer at 20 °C, and its tensile behavior evolved toward a rubbery semicrystalline polymer with increasing temperature. The drawing of pPLA involved orientation of amorphous and crystalline chains, crystallization, and destruction of crystals. It was found that crystal formation and crystal destruction were in competition below 50 °C, resulting in a constant or slightly decreasing crystallinity with strain. Increasing temperature enhanced crystal formation and limited crystal destruction, resulting in an increased crystallinity with the strain level. Drawing yielded a transformation of the initial spherical poly(Acryl‐PEG) inclusions into ellipsoids oriented in the tensile direction. This mechanism may engender the formation of nanovoids within the inclusions due to a decreased density, assumed to be responsible for the whitening of the specimen. © 2015 Society of Chemical Industry 相似文献

Cavitation and superstructure evolution of polymers during stretching play crucial roles to influence the mechanical properties of materials. In this study, we investigated deformation-mediated superstructures and cavitation of poly (l-lactide) (PLA) as well as their dependence on stretching temperatures by in-situ small-angle X-ray (SAXS) analysis coupled with mechanical testing. It is found that the cavitation and crystalline deformation are strongly influenced by stretching stress during deformation, which significantly depends on the stretching temperature. At lower stretching temperature (70 °C), the cavitation is initiated before the yielding and then stimulates the crystallite shearing. At higher stretching temperature (90 °C), however, the crystallites shear firstly and then crystalline deformation promotes the formation of cavities orientated along the stretching direction. High stretching temperature benefits the formation of relatively perfect crystals with high orientation. The results provide the basic knowledge of how to adjust the mechanical properties of polymer materials by controlling their superstructure in the deformation process. 相似文献

The processing of manganese nodules for the production of raw materials has been a subject of research for many decades. The nodules contain many valuable metals like copper, cobalt and nickel. In recent years, the German Federal Institute for Geoscience and Natural Resources developed a process for the processing of manganese nodules based on a combined pyro- and a hydrometallurgical route. Clausthal University of Technology was assigned to develop the hydrometallurgical process for the treatment of a FeNiCuCo alloy. Gemini surfactants were synthesized by reaction of long-chain N-alkyl glucamines with epoxy resins. Analogous to the synthesis of gemini surfactns from long-chain N-alkyl glucamines and α, ω-diepoxides (1), the reaction in methanol at 70°C could be used to convert the starting materials
selectively and almost quantitatively. N-Octyl glucamine, N-decyl glucamine, and N-dodecyl glucamine were combined with several epoxy resins, mainly technical glycidyl ethers of diols. Syntheses involving
equimolar amounts of amine resulted in quantitative conversion of the epoxy resins, and epoxide and products could be isolated
quantitatively by removing the solvent. Gemini surfactants having hydrophobic or hydrophilic spacers were preparared according
to their structures and the hydrophilic properties of the epoxy resin. Surface tensions were measured, and foaming propertiers
were examined to characterize surface-active properties of these surfactants. The more hydrophilic products were of particularly
high surface activity. Tensiometric studies showed a reduction of surface tension to 30–34 mN/m and critical micelle concentrations
in the range of 2–35 mg/L. Comparison of gemini surfactants from long-chain N-alkyl glucamines and diepoxides of α,ω-diolefins (chain lengths: C8, C9, C10, and C14) with those based on epoxy resins showed similar or lower surface activities using hydrophobic epoxy resins and much better
surface-active properties using hydrophilic epoxy resins (e.g., based on glycerol). This, together with the easier availability,
makes the epoxy resin-based products interesting surfactants. Products having very good surface-active properties are available,

Isobutanol is deemed to be a next‐generation biofuel and a renewable platform chemical. 1 Non‐natural biosynthetic pathways for isobutanol production have been implemented in cell‐based and in vitro systems with Bacillus subtilis acetolactate synthase (AlsS) as key biocatalyst. 2 – 6 AlsS catalyzes the condensation of two pyruvate molecules to acetolactate with thiamine diphosphate and Mg2+ as cofactors. AlsS also catalyzes the conversion of 2‐ketoisovalerate into isobutyraldehyde, the immediate precursor of isobutanol. Our phylogenetic analysis suggests that the ALS enzyme family forms a distinct subgroup of ThDP‐dependent enzymes. To unravel catalytically relevant structure‐function relationships, we solved the AlsS crystal structure at 2.3 Å in the presence of ThDP, Mg2+ and in a transition state with a 2‐lactyl moiety bound to ThDP. We supplemented our structural data by point mutations in the active site to identify catalytically important residues. 相似文献
