The use of advance composite materials is increasing in various industrial applications such as renewable energy, transportation, medical devices, etc. As the demand for stability under high mechanical, thermal, electrical and combined loads is increasing, research is being focused on developing newer types of composites and developing analytical and numerical methods to study composite plates as well. The present work is aimed to provide a comprehensive review of research in the structural analysis of composite plates along-with research trends in the last 15 years. The article first presents the evolution of plate theories comparing their formulations, applicability and discusses some key papers, results and conclusions. Evolution of research from the equivalent shear deformation theories (ESL) such as first order theory and higher order theories based on various shape strain functions e.g., polynomial, trigonometric to layer-wise, zigzag and displacement potential theories is presented. The comparative analysis of various solution approaches is done based on a review of research work in the structural analysis of plates. This is followed by review of meshless analysis methods for composite materials highlighting problem domains where conventional finite element analysis (FEA) approach has limitations. This article also presents a discussion on the new methods of plate analysis such as region-by-region modeling, hierarchic modeling and mixed FE and neural network based modeling. An attempt has been done in this article to focus on research trends in the last 15 years.  相似文献

The oil yield and composition of fatty acids, tocopherols, tocotrienols, sterols, carotenoids, and squalene in the seeds of three species—Hyptis suaveolens, Leonotis nepetifolia, Ocimum sanctum—belonging to the Lamiaceae family, are studied. The oil yields are 12.1%, 16.1%, and 29.0% in O. sanctum, H. suaveolens, and L. nepetifolia, respectively. The unsaturated fatty acids are a predominant group (86.8–92.1%) in all three investigated plants; however, the profile for each species is unique. The main fatty acid differs as follows: H. suaveolens—linoleic acid (85.8%), L. nepetifolia—oleic acid (58.3%), and O. sanctum—α‐linolenic (48.6%). γ‐Tocopherol accounts for over 97%, 90%, and 93% of the total tocochromanol content (sum of tocopherols and tocotrienols) in H. suaveolens, L. nepetifolia, and O. sanctum, respectively. Two tocotrienol homologues, α and γ, are detected only in L. nepetifolia. β‐Sitosterol is the main detected sterol (38–59%) in all three species. High levels of campesterol (18–20%), Δ5‐stigmasterol (9–21%), and Δ5‐avenasterol (7–12%) are also detected. Squalene is detected only in O. sanctum (45.8 mg/100 g oil). The content of sterols, tocochromanols, and carotenoids in the investigated Lamiaceae plant seed oils ranges between 279.5–576.3, 54.5–66.7, and 0.3–3.1 mg/100 g oil, respectively. Practical Applications: Lamiaceae plants are of medicinal interest due to the presence of a broad spectrum of bioactive molecules. The present study demonstrates that seeds of the species H. suaveolens, L. nepetifolia, and O. sanctum are rich sources of bioactive compounds of lipophilic nature. There is limited knowledge associated with the composition of tocopherols, tocotrienols, sterols, carotenoids, and squalene. The results of the studied medicinal plants may enhance future targeted applications in various sectors.  相似文献

Conducting polymers (CPs) such as polyaniline (PANI), polypyrrole (PPy), and polythiophene (PTh) are used for the corrosion protection of metals and metal alloys. Several groups have reported diverse views about the corrosion protection by CPs and hence various mechanisms have been suggested to explain anticorrosion properties of CPs. These include anodic protection, controlled inhibitor release as well as barrier protection mechanisms. Different approaches have been developed for the use of CPs in protective coatings (dopants, composites, blends). A judicious choice of synthesis parameters leads to an improvement in the anticorrosion properties of the coatings prepared by CPs for metals and their alloys. This article is prepared as a review of the application of CPs for corrosion protection of metal alloys.  相似文献

Blends of polyamide6 (PA6) and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) were prepared in presence or absence of up to 5 wt % of a reactive compatibilizer [styrene maleic anhydride copolymer (SMA) modified with 5 wt % multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWNT)] by melt‐mixing using conical twin screw microcompounder where the ABS content was varied from 20 to 50 wt %. The melt viscosity of the blends was significantly enhanced in presence of SMA modified by multiwall carbon nanotubes due to the reactive compatibilization, which leads to stabilized interphase in the blends. Furthermore, the presence of MWNT in the compatibilizer phase led to additional increase in viscosity and storage modulus. Morphological studies revealed the presence of either droplet‐dispersed or cocontinuous type depending on the blend compositions. Further, reactive compatibilization led to a significant change in the morphology, namely a structure refining, which was enhanced by MWNT presence as observed from SEM micrographs. DSC crystallization studies indicated a delayed crystallization response of PA6 in presence of ABS presumably due to high melt viscosity of ABS. The crystallization temperature and the degree of crystallinity were strongly dependent on the type of morphology and content of reactive compatibilizer, whereas the presence of MWNT had an additional influence. SAXS studies revealed the formation of thinner and less perfect crystallites of PA6 phase in the blends, which showed cocontinuous morphology. A unique observation of multiple scattering maxima at higher q region has been found in the blends of cocontinuous morphology, which was observed to be successively broadened in presence of the compatibilizer. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A detailed example of a power system model with load dynamics is studied by investigating qualitative changes or bifurcations in its behaviour as a reactive power demand at one load bus is increased. In addition to the saddle-node bifurcation often associated with voltage collapse, we find other bifurcation phenomena which include Hopf bifurcation, cyclic fold bifurcation, period doubling bifurcation, and the emergence of chaos. The presence of these dynamic bifurcations motivates a re-examination of the role of saddle-node bifurcations in the voltage collapse phenomenon. In fact, simulation results suggest that voltage collapse may take place before the reactive power demand is increased to the system steady-state operating limit where a saddle-node bifurcation is detected. We also consider the role that the algebraic constraints imposed by some load models may play in the global analysis of the attractors of the system. Implications for power system operations are drawn.  相似文献

The advantages of the use of As-doped polycrystalline silicon film over that of As-doped glass film in the fabrication of high speed bipolar integrated circuits have been shown. The films have been used for doping buried layer and emitter. Deposition conditions optimized for the As-doped polycrystalline silicon film allows low junction leakage to be attained with low pipe density. During the course of the work the mechanism for the formation of pipes have been suggested.  相似文献

The morphology and properties of polypropylene (PP)/clay nanocomposites are described. The melt intercalation of organophilic clay was carried out with a single‐screw extruder. The effects of two kinds of treatments of clay are discussed. Maleic anhydride (MAH)‐grafted PP was used as a compatibilizer. The expansion of the intergallery distance of the clay was governed by the interaction between the clay treatment and the compatibilizer. In one case, the composites exhibited significantly reduced intensities of diffraction peaks, suggesting partial exfoliation of the clay layers, whereas for the second clay sample, expansion of the gallery height was noted. The mechanical properties of the PP/clay composites showed significant enhancement in their mechanical and thermal properties. About a 35% increase in the tensile modulus and about a 10% increase in the tensile strength were observed. The thermal degradation temperature increased from 270 to about 400°C as a result of the incorporation of clay, and the extent depended on the dispersion of clay in the composite. The most interesting outcome of this study was the changes in morphology for PP/clay composites, which are reported here for the first time. An optical microscopic study revealed that the PP/clay composites could be crystallized at higher temperatures than pure PP and that the morphology was remarkably altered because of the presence of layers of clay. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The neural network (NN) technique has been utilized for prediction of performance of omegatube type Coriolis mass flow sensor. The results show that a well trained and well tested NN model has the capability to predict the performance of mass flow sensor for varying design parameters depending on the availability of the data and can be used as an alternative to the physical models in the sense that the results can be produced in a fast and cost effective way. The values of correlation coefficient (R) for the training, testing and whole datasets indicates that the NN results are in good agreement with the experimental results.  相似文献
