The maximum measurable range of a spectral interference microscope depends on the coherence length of the light transmitted by its tunable spectral filter. To achieve a large range in step-height measurement we have developed a new tunable spectral filter that uses tandem liquid-crystal Fabry-Perot interferometers (LC-FPIs), which can simultaneously attain both a high spectral resolution and a large tuning range. Fringe visibility measurements were carried out, and it was found that the coherence length of the light transmitted through tandem LC-FPIs is two times larger than that transmitted through a single LC-FPI. Using this novel tunable spectral filter, we developed a new spectral interference microscope for the measurement of three-dimensional shapes of discontinuous objects. Experimental results of step-height measurements both with a single LC-FPI and with tandem LC-FPIs are presented for a combination of standard steel gauge block sets with 1-, 99-, and 100-microm steps. A large range (1-100 microm) of measurement with submicrometer resolution was achieved with tandem LC-FPIs that was not possible with our previous system in which a single LC-FPI was used.  相似文献

A nonmechanical scanning Mirau-type spectral interference microscope has been developed for the measurement of three-dimensional surface profiles of discontinuous objects. An acousto-optic tunable filter (AOTF) is used as a high-resolution spectral filter, which scans the optical frequency of the broadband light emitted from a superluminescent diode. To generate spectral fringes that make full use of the limited coherence length of the filtered light we unbalanced the Mirau interferometric system by positioning the reference mirror nearly halfway between the top and the bottom of the step height. When the frequency of the broadband light source is scanned by an AOTF, the interference fringes move in opposite directions on the top and the bottom of the object. To uniquely determine the sign of the fringe movement over the large area of the object, we developed a three-dimensional Fourier-transform technique, and from the detected sign of the fringe movement and phase information, we determined the three-dimensional step height. Experimental results of the measurement of 100-microm step height are presented. The main advantages of the proposed system are that it provides nonmechanical scanning and a large measurement range without ambiguity in the sign of the phase.  相似文献

Mezzanine surfaces can be made from concrete, bar grate, or composite materials. Anecdotal data indicate that mezzanines in distribution centers made from composite materials, due to their increased compliance, may be a more comfortable working surface. Prior research suggested that a measure of tibial shock, peak tibial acceleration, could potentially discriminate the biomechanical differences between these surfaces. The objective of this study was to quantify differences in tibial accelerations as 27 people walked on mezzanines constructed from concrete and a wood composite material. Accelerometers were attached bilaterally to the shins of volunteers, and data were collected as they walked 30.5 m on each surface at their normal walking speed, a faster-than-normal walking speed, and a slower-than-normal walking speed. Peak acceleration values obtained from the leg with the highest values were compared. On average, the peak acceleration values were 5% higher on the concrete mezzanine as compared with the wood composite mezzanine (p = .036). These findings suggest that individuals working on mezzanines in distribution centers constructed from composite surfaces would potentially experience less discomfort associated with long exposure periods on these surfaces.  相似文献

In this work, we attempted to develop a simple and inexpensive colon specific pulsatile drug-delivery system using chitosan microspheres loaded with 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) using an enteric-coated soft gelatin capsule. Chemical crosslinking by glutaraldehyde and interactions between the polymer and the drug were determined by Fourier transform infrared spectral study. Scanning electron microscopy of the microspheres revealed spherical shapes with smooth surfaces. Differential scanning calorimetry studies confirmed the molecular dispersion of the drug in the polymer matrix. Three different formulations (i.e., F1, F2, and F3) were prepared by the variation of the amount of 5-FU. Encapsulation efficiencies of 5.5, 10.8, and 17.9% for drug loadings of 10, 20, and 50%, respectively, were obtained. In vitro release studies were conducted at pH 1.2 and pH 7.4 (to simulate actual gastrointestinal fluid and gastrointestinal tract conditions, respectively). The results indicate that chitosan microspheres released 5-FU in both acidic (60%) and basic pH (40%) conditions, whereas the capsule (filled with chitosan microspheres) showed only 8–10% release in acidic media and nearly 90% in basic media within 12 h. This quad-issue processor achieves 1-GHz operation through improved dynamic circuit techniques in critical paths and a more extensive on-chip memory system which scales in both bandwidth and latency. Critical logic paths use domino, delayed clocked domino, and logic embedded in dynamic flip-flops for minimum delay. A 64-KB sum-addressed memory data cache combines the address offset add with the cache decode, allowing the average memory latency to scale by more than the clock ratio. Memory bandwidth is improved by using wave pipelined SRAM designs for on-chip caches and a write cache for store traffic. Memory power is controlled without increased latency by use of delayed-reset logic decoders. The chip operates at 1000 MHz and dissipates less than 80 W from a 1.6-V supply. In this study, experimental results on the signal quality of a multimedia imaging detector, operating on gaseous solid state ionization principles, with specific emphasis on single X-ray exposure dual-energy radiography, are presented. In an attempt to reduce the pipeline overhead, a new family of edge-triggered flip-flops has been developed. The flip-flops belong to a class of semidynamic and dynamic circuits that can interface to both static and dynamic circuits. The main features of the basic design are short latency, small clock load, small area, and a single-phase clock scheme. Furthermore, the flip-flop family has the capability of easily incorporating logic functions with a small delay penalty. This feature greatly reduces the pipeline overhead, since each flip-flop can be viewed as a special logic gate that serves as a synchronization element as well  相似文献
