In this work we evaluate the safety characteristics of an advanced Sn-C/EC:PC 1:1, LiPF6 PVdF gel electrolyte (GPE)/LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 lithium ion polymer battery. The tests are performed by using a complex analysis that combines Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), and Mass Spectrometry (MS). This is a very convenient tool since it detects eventual thermal decomposition processes and provides information on the nature of their products. The results of the DSC-TGA-MS analysis are here reported and discussed. They demonstrate that both the anode and the cathode sides of the battery may stand temperatures up to ca. 200 °C without undergoing thermal decomposition. This is a convincing evidence that the Sn-C/LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 lithium ion polymer battery is safe. 相似文献

On August 29, 2005, when Hurricane Katrina made landfall near the Louisiana-Mississippi border, it exposed a large number of people to extraordinary loss and suffering. The enormous swath of physical devastation wreaked across the marshes of Louisiana's Plaquemines Parish to the urban communities of New Orleans and the coastal landscape of Mississippi and Alabama caused a notable change to the demographics of the Gulf Region, making it the most expensive natural disaster in U.S. history. This article describes a disaster responder's experiences of working with displaced survivors of Hurricane Katrina, providing crisis and mental health support in the acute phase of the disaster. This is followed by a discussion of the importance of a multicultural approach to helping survivors of a natural disaster; several guidelines to improve multicultural competence are proposed. Transient memory impairment in monkeys with bilateral lesions of the entorhinal cortex 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Performance on five behavioral tasks was assessed post-operatively in Macaca fascicularis monkeys prepared with bilateral lesions of the entorhinal cortex (E group). Three of the tasks were also readministered 9-14 months after surgery. Initial learning of the delayed nonmatching-to-sample (DNMS) task was impaired in the E animals relative to unoperated control monkeys. On the delay portion of DNMS, the performance of E animals was nearly at control levels at short delays (up to 60 sec) but was impaired at 10 min and 40 min retention intervals. On the retest of DNMS, the E animals performed normally at all retention intervals. The E animals were unimpaired on the four other memory tasks. Neuroanatomical studies revealed a significant transverse expansion of the terminal field of the perirhinal cortical projection in the CA1 region of the hippocampus. Compared to unlesioned, anatomical control monkeys, the transverse length of the perirhinal terminal field in CA1 increased approximately 70% in the E monkeys. Although this was a striking morphological alteration, it is not known whether the sprouting of this projection influenced the behavioral recovery. The results of these studies suggest that the entorhinal cortex may normally participate in the learning and performance of tasks that are dependent on the medial temporal lobe memory system. However, recovery of normal DNMS performance demonstrates that the entorhinal cortex is not, by itself, essential for learning and performance of such tasks. 相似文献

Monte Carlo simulations are a useful and easy way to understand a polymerization reaction process properly. However, achieving reliable results with Monte Carlo simulations can also lead to prohibitive computational times and a considerable amount of data to be processed afterward. The present study analyses the Monte Carlo simulation of a steady-state terpolymerization process to reduce the overall computational time of the simulation and the post-processing of its results. Different sorting algorithms (Bubble, Insertion, Selection, and Tim) and Python libraries (Joblib and Numba) were used. The chain composition distribution and the micro-structures resultant of different scenarios were assessed by processing the simulated mechanism results. The simulation time results indicate the Tim sorting algorithm as the best to use in the post-processing step and the Numba library as the best suited for both the simulation and the post-processing step. 相似文献

Scope
The consumption of dietary anthocyanins is associated with various health benefits. However, anthocyanins are poorly bioavailable, and most ingested anthocyanins will enter the colon where they are degraded to small phenolic metabolites that are the main absorbed forms. Little is known about the processes of anthocyanin degradation in the gut and the role of the human gut microbiota. This study aims to determine the contribution of spontaneous and microbiota-dependent degradation of anthocyanins in the human colon.Methods and results
Purified anthocyanin extracts from black rice and bilberry were incubated in an in vitro human fecal-inoculated pH-controlled colon model over 24 h and anthocyanins were analyzed using HPLC-DAD. The study shows that the loss of anthocyanins occurs both spontaneously and as a consequence of metabolism by the gut microbiota. The study observes that there is high variability in spontaneous degradation but only modest variation in total degradation, which included the microbiota-dependent component. The degradation rate of anthocyanins is also shown to be dependent on the B-ring substitution pattern and the type of sugar moiety, both for spontaneous and microbiota-dependent degradation.Conclusion

The use of wild Saccharomyces and non-Saccharomyces yeasts might result in bread with different and attractive sensory characteristics. This study aimed to evaluate the performance of Saccharomyces and non-Saccharomyces yeasts as starter culture in dough fermentation to bread making and the physicochemical parameters and aromatic profile of bread. All 26 wild yeasts strains isolated from Brazilian Cerrado fruit and tree bark were osmotolerant, and 19.4% were able to ferment maltose. Candida tropicalis ART101.3 and Saccharomyces cerevisiae SC5952 had the best growth capacity under high concentrations of glucose and maltose. Also, they were resistant to lyophilisation. Kinetic parameters of bioreactor cultivations showed high cell growth and lower generation time with 10 g L−1 maltose. Bread produced with C. tropicalis ART101.3 and the control bread had similar physicochemical properties and acceptance of consumers. Bread with S. cerevisiae SC5951 had a lower specific volume and a different colour than control bread; however, the consumers found no significant difference. More than 70% of the consumers demonstrated purchase intention of bread produced with both wild yeasts. The present study shows the potential of native Cerrado yeasts to be used and exploited in industrial processes and contributes to the diversification of bread starter cultures. 相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of physical exercise (EXE), strontium ranelate (SR), or their combination on bone status in ovariectomized (OVX) rats. DESIGN: Sixty female Wistar rats were randomized to one of five groups: sham (Sh), OVX (O), OVX+EXE (OE), OVX+SR (OSR), and OVX+EXE+SR (OESR). Animals in EXE groups were subjected to 10 drops per day (45 cm in height); rats in SR groups received 625 mg/kg/day of SR, 5 days/week for 8 weeks. Bone mineral density (BMD) and bone mineral content (BMC, dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA)), mechanical strength of the left femur (three-point bending test), and femur microarchitecture of (micro-computed tomography imaging, microCT) analyses were performed to characterize biomechanical and trabecular/cortical structure. Bone remodeling, osteocyte apoptosis, and lipid content were evaluated by ELISA and immunofluorescence tests. RESULTS: In OVX rats, whole-body BMD, trabecular parameters, and osteocalcin (OCN) levels decreased, while weight, lean/fat mass, osteocyte apoptosis, and lipid content all increased. EXE after ovariectomy improved BMD and BMC, trabecular parameters, cross-sectional area (CSA), moment of inertia, and OCN levels while decreasing osteocyte apoptosis and lipid content. SR treatment increased BMD and BMC, trabecular parameters, CSA, stiffness, OCN, and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) levels. Furthermore, fat mass, N-telopeptide (NTX) level, osteocyte apoptosis, and lipid content significantly decreased. The combination of both EXE and SR improved bone parameters compared with EXE or SR alone. CONCLUSION: EXE and SR had positive and synergistic effects on bone formation and resorption. 相似文献
