Endothelium-dependent effect of perindopril and enalaprilat in rat thoracic aorta

AIM: To study the effect of the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors perindopril (Per) and enalaprilat (Ena) on the reactivity of the endothelium in normal rats. METHODS: Male rats were treated intragastrically with Per (2 mg.kg-1.d-1) or placebo (n = 18) for 6 wk. Aorta was isolated for experiment. Another set of isolated aortic rings with and without endothelium were incubated with Ena (0.1 mumol.L-1) for 30 min. Responses to acetylcholine, serotonin, phenylephrine, sodium nitroprusside (SN), and nitroglycerin (Nit) were observed. RESULTS: Endothelium-dependent relaxation to acetylcholine was augmented in aortic rings from rats treated with Per in comparison with control. The IC50 value (95% confidence limits) decreased from 3.8 (0.56-26.1) mumol.L-1 (control group) to 0.98 (0.28-3.41) mumol.L-1 (Per-treated group). The maximal relaxation was augmented from 62 +/- 9% to 78 +/- 10% (P < 0.01). However, the responses to the endothelium-independent vasodilators, SN and Nit, were similar. Serotonin- and phenylephrine-induced contractions were decreased, which were influenced by basal release of endothelium-derived relaxing factor (EDRF). EC50 values was 6.1 (2.6-14.4) nmol.L-1 vs 8.3 (3.6-18.8) nmol.L-1 in comparison with control group and Per-treated group. The maximal contraction was decreased from 2.42 +/- 0.29 g (control group) to 1.96 +/- 0.25 g (treated group) (P < 0.01). Similar results were found in incubation with Ena. CONCLUSION: Ena and Per enhanced the basic release of EDRF from vascular endothelium.

Synthesis of large building blocks for dendritic polyethers

Summary Building blocks containing multi-aryl ethers linkage in larger size for rapid building larger dendrimers were prepared with 3,5-di(4-hydroxyphenoxy)benzyl alcohol (1) as branch monomer and 1,3,5-tri(4-hydroxyphenoxy)benzene (2) as core molecule. Two generation of dendritic polyethers (12 and 15) were obtained by Fréchet convergent approach with 3,5-diphenoxybenzyl bromide (3) as starting molecule. They were characterized firstly by ¹H-NMR, ¹³C-NMR, and MS.

Fluxing of a 359/SiC/10p composite with alkali chlorides: effect of inclusions

The effect of salt addition, in the form of a fluxing agent containing equivalent amounts of NaCl and KCl, on the microstructure and mechanical properties of 359/SiC/10p composite has been investigated. Both microstructure and properties are affected, with the removal of magnesium and strontium and the introduction of sodium and potassium being responsible for the degradation in properties. Thermodynamic calculations have been carried out to account for the effect of salt addition in terms of the surface adsorption of sodium and potassium impurities and the consequent changes in the surface-interface tension of their binary alloys. Mechanisms for the degradation of properties have been discussed.     

Buckling optimization of hybrid-fiber multilayer-sandwich cylindrical shells under external lateral pressure

This paper describes a method of analyzing the maximum buckling strength of hybrid-fiber multilayer-sandwich cylindrical shells under external lateral pressure with respect to fiber orientations and weighting factors. Formulae for optimizing these parameters are presented and conditions for the application of these formulae are discussed. A discriminant is derived for assessing whether the hybrid sandwich cylindrical shells for given different unidirectional composites should reach the extreme value of critical pressure.

为了设计新的具有较高非线性极化率和光损耗小的有机非线性光学（ＮＬＯ）材料，需要了解不同的有机结构对分子非线性的影响。在此基础之上，建议用平行对比的方法来近似估算取代二苯多烯和聚二乙炔（ＰＤＡ）的三阶非线性光学极化率。     

转炉溅渣层与镁碳砖炉衬的结合机理

通过对生产现场带有溅渣层的转炉炉衬残砖和试验室小型坩埚溅渣试验结果进行矿相显微结构分析、研究，确定了溅渣层的矿相组成、溅渣层与ＭｇＯ－Ｃ砖结合区域的矿相结构及坩埚溅渣层自上而下的矿相分布规律，并根据矿相结构分析中观察到的烧结层、结合层和溅渣层３个区域，提出了溅渣层与镁碳砖炉衬的结合机理为化学结合、机械镶嵌与化学烧结结合及冷凝结合３种形式。     

LB技术制备大面积超薄PMMA抗蚀层的研究

采用自行研制的ＬＢ自动提膜装置，制备出大面积（１０×８ｃｍ２）、高质量的ＰＭＭＡ超薄抗蚀剂膜，并将其用于高分辨率铬掩模版的研制。通过电子束曝光，湿法蚀刻，制作了分辨率优于０．５μｍ，特征线宽０．３８μｍ的４（１００ｍｍ）铬掩模版。
