Size reduction of metal particles results in the formation of nanoparticles having short-range order and metastable state. Modeling of the nanoparticles can be obtained by various approaches. The major arrangement is the use of a model support on which metal nanoparticles can be created in a controlled way. Another approach is the use of amorphous alloy as precursor in which the ensemble of active sites (normally small metal nuclei embedded into amorphous matrix) is created. The modeling will be illustrated through the paper using SiO2/Si(100) on which several transition metals will be deposited by pulsed laser deposition. Ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopic technique as well as transmission electron microscopic technique will be utilized in characterization of the samples. CO chemisorption and CO oxidation as test reaction will be applied to show the connection between catalytic behavior and electronic properties or morphology of nanoparticles.  相似文献

IP in the edge and ATM in the core are commonplace in today's internetworks. The IETF has proposed a new Quality of Service (QoS) mechanism namely Differentiated Services (DiffServ) for IP networks. On the other hand, QoS is an inherent feature in ATM. It is imperative that IP and ATM QoS interoperate efficiently to provide an end-to-end service guarantee. DiffServ provides a class of service named Assured Forwarding (AF) that does not exactly correlate to any of the service categories offered by ATM. AF is targeted towards a range of applications, such as real-time (rt) that do not require a constant bit rate service provided by Expedited Forwarding, and other non-real-time (nrt) applications that expect a service better than best effort. In this paper we propose the mapping of AF to the Variable Bit Rate (VBR) service category in ATM. VBR is suitable because it is available in the form of rt-VBR and nrt-VBR and could be translated appropriately based on the applications. The mapping is implemented and verified using the LBNL Network Simulator. The results of the experiments show that VBR is a better match for AF than any other service category in ATM.  相似文献

In this article we present observations on the detection efficiency of a recently developed TSI 3785 Water Condensation Particle Counter (WCPC). The instrument relies on activation of sampled particles by water condensation. The supersaturation is generated by directing a saturated airflow into a “growth tube,” in which the mass transfer of water vapor is faster than heat transfer. This results in supersaturated conditions with respect to water vapor in the centerline of a “growth tube.” In this study, the cut-off diameter, that is, the size, where 50% of the sampled particles are successfully activated, varied from 4 to 14 nm for silver particles as a function of temperature difference between the saturator and the growth tube. The solubility of the sampled particles to water played an important role in the detection efficiency. Cut-off diameters for ammonium sulphate and sodium chloride particles were 5.1 and 3.6–3.8 nm, respectively at nominal operation conditions. Corresponding cut-off diameter for hydrophobic silver particles was 5.8 nm.  相似文献

Plasma spraying enables to create layers with thickness in a millimeter range adhering on various substrates. This paper provides a study of electric and mechanical properties of BaTiO3 coatings prepared by atmospheric plasma spraying. The spraying was carried out by a direct current gas-stabilized plasma gun. BaTiO3 was fed into the plasma jet as a feedstock powder prepared by a reactive sintering of micrometer-sized powders of BaCO3 and TiO2. Microstructure and phase composition are reported and discussed in connection with electric and mechanical properties. The ability of the used techniques to detect precisely the phase transformation temperatures of BaTiO3 plasma sprayed coatings is discussed as well. A depth-sensing indentation measurement was done between 290 and 520 K to provide local mechanical characterization. The elastic modulus has shown slightly higher values than that reported typically in papers focused on BaTiO3 ferroelectric thin films. The average Vickers microhardness is tested to characterize the samples in larger scale. A wear resistance in a slurry environment is reported as well. Dielectric properties are reported for the temperature window of existence of the tetragonal ferroelectric phase. Relative permittivity and loss factor are studied at frequency from 50 Hz to 1 MHz and temperature from 260 to 400 K.  相似文献

Volumetric mass transfer coefficients, kLa, just as power input are considered as essential parameters for mechanically agitated gas‐liquid contactors in relation to their optimization and design. The knowledge of power input is crucial for the prediction of other mass transfer characteristics. A power input correlation is created for the industrial design of the process with a non‐coalescent batch that would be appropriate for a broad range of operational conditions. The recommended resulting correlation is able to predict the power input for impellers in industrial‐scale design for a significant scope of operational conditions.  相似文献
