Polybutadiene‐ol was synthesized by solution radical polymerization of 1,3‐butadiene in the presence of hydrogen peroxide as initiator and 2‐propanol as solvent. The ratio of initiator to monomer molar concentration, [I0]/[M0], was varied while temperature, reaction time and the type and amount of solvent were kept constant. The effects on the Mn; Mw; Mv; PDI, OH‐number and functionality of the synthesized polyols were studied. By taking several samples during a polymerization batch and analyzing them, the time of reaction was chosen as 100 min, after which the PDI changed dramatically. Mn decreased exponentially with increasing [I0]/[M0] according to the relationship Mn = 565.55 ([I0]/[M0])?0.7553. The decrease observed in Mw gradually levelled off with increasing [I0]/[M0] and molecular weight distribution broadened at larger values of [I0]/[M0]. The OH‐number increases with [I0]/[M0]. In addition to the number‐average molecular weight, functionality is dependent on the number of hydroxyl‐terminated chain radicals in the reaction medium. Gamma irradiation, alone and in combination with sulphitation, was tested for preventing the browning and maintaining the quality attributes of the white button mushrooms. Mushrooms were subjected to treatment of gamma irradiation in the dose range of 0.5–2.0 kGy and to combination treatments of sulphitation at a concentration of 0.1% potassium metabisulphite (KMS) and gamma irradiation (dose range 0.5–2.0 kGy) followed by storage at 10 ± 2 °C (RH 85%). A dose of 2.0 kGy significantly reduced the weight loss, prevented browning and mould growth. Cap and veil opening of mushrooms was delayed by 9 days and shelf life was extended by 12 days at a dose level of 2.0 kGy. Sulphitation alone at a concentration of 0.1% KMS was effective in controlling browning only upto 3 days, beyond which both browning and cap opening increased significantly ( P  ≤ 0.05) and the samples were unacceptable after 6 days of storage. No synergistic effect of sulphitation and irradiation was observed with respect to the shelf-life extension of mushroom.  相似文献

One of the ways to potentiate antitumor effectiveness of chemotherapeutic drugs is by local application of short intense electric pulses. This causes an increase of the cell membrane permeability and is called electropermeabilization. In order to study the course of tissue permeabilization of a subcutaneous tumor in small animals, a mathematical model was built with the commercial program EMAS, which uses the finite element method. The model is based on the tissue specific conductivity values found in literature, experimentally determined electric field threshold values of reversible and irreversible tissue permeabilization, and conductivity changes in the tissues. The results obtained with the model were then compared to experimental results from the treatment of subcutaneous tumors in mice and a good agreement was obtained. Our results and the reversible and irreversible thresholds used coincide well with the effectiveness of the electrochemotherapy in real tumors where experiments show antitumor effectiveness for amplitudes higher than 900 V/cm ratio and pronounced antitumor effects at 1300 V/cm ratio.  相似文献

A Theratron 780 (MDS Nordion) 60Co radiotherapy unit has been simulated with the Monte Carlo code MCNP. The unit has been realistically modelled: the cylindrical source capsule and its housing, the rectangular collimator system, both the primary and secondary jaws and the air gaps between the components. Different collimator openings, ranging from 5 x 5 cm2 to 20 x 20 cm2 (narrow and broad beams) at a source-surface distance equal to 80 cm have been used during the study. In the present work, we have calculated spectra as a function of field size. A study of the variation of the electron contamination of the 60Co beam has also been performed.  相似文献

An automated sequential injection (SI) system incorporating a dual-conical microcolumn is proposed as a versatile approach for the accommodation of both single and sequential extraction schemes for metal fractionation of solid samples of environmental concern. Coupled to flame atomic absorption spectrometric detection and used for the determination of Cu as a model analyte, the potentials of this novel hyphenated approach are demonstrated by the ability of handling up to a 300 mg sample of a nonhomogeneous sewage amended soil (viz., CRM 483). The three steps of the endorsed Standards, Measurements, and Testing sequential extraction method have been also performed in a dynamic fashion and critically compared with the conventional batchwise protocols. The ecotoxicological relevance of the data provided by both methods with different operationally defined conditions is thoroughly discussed. As compared to traditional batch systems, the developed SI assembly offers minimal risks of sample contamination, the absence of metal re-distribution/readsorption, and dramatic saving of operational times (from 16 h to 40-80 min per partitioning step). It readily facilitates the accurate manipulation of the extracting reagents into the flow network and the minute, well-defined injection of the desired leachate volume into the detector. Moreover, highly time-resolved information on the ongoing extraction is given, which is particularly relevant for monitoring fast leaching kinetics, such as those involving strong chelating agents. On-line and off-line (for Cu, Pb, and Zn) single extraction schemes are also proven to constitute attractive alternatives for fast screening of metal pollution in solid samples and for predicting the current, rather than the potential, element bioavailability by the assessment of the readily mobilizable metal forms.  相似文献

Spectrofluorometric studies on the binding properties of 5-pyridino-2,8-dithia[9](2,9)-1,10-phenanthrolinephane (L) toward La3+, Sm3+, Gd3+, Yb3+, and Nd3+ in methanol solution revealed the occurrence of both 1:1 and 2:1 (ligand/metal) complexation with a stability order of Nd3+ > Yb3+ > Gd3+ > Sm3+ > La3+. Consequently, L was used as a suitable neutral ionophore for the preparation of a novel polymeric membrane-selective electrode for Nd3+ ion. The electrode exhibited a Nernstian response over a wide concentration range (1.0 x 10(-6)-1.0 x 10(-2) M) with a low limit of detection of 7.9 x 10(-7) M. The electrode possesses a fast response time of <5 s and can be used for at least 9 weeks without observing any considerable deviation. The proposed electrode revealed a very good selectivity for Nd3+ over a wide variety of alkali, alkaline earth, transition, and heavy metal ions, including members of the lanthanide family other than Nd3+. The potentiometric response of the electrode is independent of the pH of test solution in the pH range 4.0-6.5. The proposed electrode was successfully applied to the recovery of Nd3+ ion from tap water samples and, also, as an indicator electrode, in potentiometric titration of neodymium(III) ions.  相似文献

Enhanced intramuscular fat content (i.e., marbling) in beef is a desirable trait, which can result in increased product value. This study was undertaken with the aim of revealing biochemical factors associated with the marbling trait in beef cattle. Samples of longissimus lumborum (LL) and pars costalis diaphragmatis (PCD) were taken from a group of intact crossbred males and females at slaughter, lipids extracted, and the resulting FAME examined for relationships with marbling fat deposition. For LL, significant associations were found between degree of marbling and myristic (14∶0, r=0.55, P<0.01), palmitic (16∶0, r=0.80 P<0.001), stearic (18∶0, r=−0.58, P<0.01), and oleic (18∶1c-9, r=0.79, P<0.001) acids. For PCD, significant relationships were found between marbling and palmitic (r=0.71, P<0.001) and oleic (r=0.74, P<0.001) acids. Microsomal fractions prepared from PCD muscle were assayed for diacylglycerol acyltransferase (DGAT), lysophosphatidic acid acyltransferase (LPAAT), and phosphatidic acid phosphatase-1 (PAP-1) activity, and the results examined for relationships with degree of intramuscular fat deposition. None of the enzyme activities from PCD displayed an association with marbling fat content, but DGAT specific activity showed significant positive associations with LPAAT (r=0.54, P<0.01), total PAP (r=0.66, P<0.001), and PAP-1 (r=0.63, P<0.01) specific activities. The results on FA compositions of whole muscle tissues provide insight into possible enzyme action associated with the production of specific FA. The increased proportion of oleic acid associated with enhanced lipid content of whole muscle is noteworthy given the known health benefits of this FA.  相似文献

This study was to determine the effect of a seaweed Ascophyllum nodosum extract (SE) containing 220 mg g−1 phlorotannins on differentiation and fatty acid accumulation in differentiating 3T3-L1 adipocytes. 3T3-L1 cells (2 × 104 mL−1) were seeded to 24-well plates and proliferated to reach confluence and then were treated with media containing 0, 12.5, 25, 50, 75 and 100 μg mL−1 SE for 8 days. Dexamethasone, methyl-isobutylxanthine and insulin (DMI) were added to the media in the first 2 days to induce cell differentiation. On day 8 the adipocytes were harvested for measuring cellular fatty acid concentration and the activity of glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GPDH). It was found that treatment with SE increased (P < 0.01, n = 6) cellular myristoleic acid (C14:1), palmitoleic acid (C16:1) and oleic acid (C18:1) and total monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) without significantly affecting the cell number and saturated fatty acid (SFA). Ratios of MUFA/SFA, C14:1/C14:0, C16:1/C16:0 and C18:1/C18:0 in cellular lipids increased (P < 0.05, n = 6) with the SE treatment in a dose dependent manner (P < 0.001). Treatment with 75 μg mL−1 SE depressed (P < 0.05) cellular GPDH activity. The results indicate that the biological factors in the SE may be involved in differentiation and MUFA accumulation in adipocytes.  相似文献

The effects of composition and interface modification on the tensile properties and the impact resistance of different woodflour/polypropylene composites (WPC) were studied. The woodflour was treated with vinyltrimethoxy silane as a coupling agent, and its effect on the WPC properties was examined. In addition, the tensile data were fitted with several semiempirical models to clarify the mechanical behavior of the composites. The Pukánszky parameters obtained from the fit of the tensile strength data revealed that the distribution of the filler was more homogeneous in the composites containing silane and that interaction between components was improved. The impact strength was maximal for the composites containing 30% of silane‐treated woodflour. Morphological analysis by SEM revealed that the woodflour tended to form agglomerates when present in relatively high amounts in the formulations. For the silane‐treated composites, the dispersion of the filler into the polypropylene (PP) matrix improved, although surface treatment blocked the inclusion of PP into the wood cells. This probably decreased the elastic moduli, even when the filler‐matrix interaction was improved. The beneficial effects of the coupling agent on the WPC properties were greater in the materials containing a relatively low amount of filler (up to 30%); the effectiveness of 0.5% and 1% organosilane were very similar, demonstrating the effectiveness of the coupling agent.
