The free amino acid and nucleotide contents of dry-cured ham, shoulder and loin from two genetic lines selected from pigs according to the paternal allele (homozygous AA and heterozygous AG) of the insulin-like growth factor-II gene were studied by HPLC. Their influence on the flavor and taste characteristics was also studied. The increase of lean content caused by the IGF-II mutation could affect proteolysis during the ripening process and therefore the sensory characteristics. The lower intramuscular fat content in the AA ham batch had a positive effect on the free amino acid content. However, similar flavor traits between ham batches were found, but the AG loin batch showed greater value. The enhancing effect of the IMP on the overall flavor intensity was limited by the amino acid and the IMF contents in dry-cured ham and loin, while in dry-cured shoulder, the IMP could be the reason for the significant differences in after taste and cured flavor scores.  相似文献

Chemical and thermal characterization of poly(d ,l ‐lactide‐co‐glycolide) (PLGA) composites filled with hydroxyapatite (HA) or carbon nanotubes (CNT) were evaluated by infrared spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetry, and dynamic–mechanical–thermal analysis. The morphology and distribution of the nanoparticles were studied by transmission electron microscopy. The composites were prepared by solvent casting using 30% HA or 1, 3, and 5% of pristine and functionalized CNT as nanoparticles and PLGA 75:25 and PLGA 50:50 as copolymer matrix. The Coats–Redfern and E2 function methodologies were used to calculate the reaction order and the activation energy (Ea) of the thermal degradation process. It was found that the addition of nanoparticles increased the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the composites. Also, higher degradation temperatures and Ea values were obtained for PLGA–HA composites and compared with the neat copolymer, and the opposite behavior was exhibited by PLGA–CNT composites. The thermal and mechanical properties were highly dependent on the morphology and dispersion of the filler. The functionalization process of CNT promoted, to some extent, a better distribution and dispersion of CNT into the matrix, and these composites exhibited a slight enhancement on storage modulus. Most experts agree that it is too early to say how quantum computers will eventually be built, and several nanoscale solid-state schemes are being implemented in a range of materials. Nanofabricated quantum dots can be made in designer configurations, with established technology for controlling interactions and for reading out results. Epitaxial quantum dots can be grown in vertical arrays in semiconductors, and ultrafast optical techniques are available for controlling and measuring their excitations. Single-walled carbon nanotubes can be used for molecular self-assembly of endohedral fullerenes, which can embody quantum information in the electron spin. The challenges of individual addressing in such tiny structures could rapidly become intractable with increasing numbers of qubits, but these schemes are amenable to global addressing methods for computation.  相似文献

We examined the differentiation and resorptive function of osteoclasts (OC) cultured on the slices of calcified bone, decalcified bone and hyaline cartilage, and found that OC differentiation depends on the co-cultured substratum, as well as osteoblast-derived factors. Bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMM) were formed from marrow cells of 5 week old ddY mice and cultured for 3 days on freeze-dried slices of calcified bone, decalcified bone or cartilage, all prepared from rabbit costal bone. BMM cultured on calcified bone slices exhibited tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) activity and were structurally characterized by multinucleation and ruffled border development. However, on decalcified bone slices, BMM seldom became multinucleated and exhibited weak TRAP activity. BMM cultured on cartilage slices were mononuclear, devoid of TRAP activity and structurally resembled mononuclear phagocytes. In SEM observations of co-cultured slices, resorption lacunae were formed only on calcified bone slices, and not on slices of decalcified bone and cartilage. Our results, therefore, indicated that BMM could differentiate into functional OC only on calcified bone slices, suggesting a key role of calcified components in the bone matrix for the terminal OC differentiation. Then, we cultured BMM on the same slices with yeast particles. In cultures with yeast particles, BMM exhibited intense TRAP activity, developed a ruffled border-like structure and formed resorption lacunae even on decalcified bone and cartilage slices. Vacuolar-type H+-ATPase was strongly expressed along the ruffled border membranes of these OC. Only the BMM that had not incorporated yeast particles developed a ruffled border, whereas the BMM that had incorporated yeast particles did not become multinucleated and lacked a ruffled border structure. Thus, our results further suggest that, even on uncalcified substrata, the terminal differentiation of BMM into functional OC is induced by an unidentified external stimulus, which may be contained in the cell membrane of yeast particles.  相似文献

Rendering scenes with overlapping transparent faces is challenging for several reasons, including sorting geometry, managing multiple per-pixel fragments, and compositing. These questions have been solved for local rendering previously, for example by order-independent transparency approaches like Depth Peeling or A-buffer implementations. We discuss order-independent transparency algorithms in context of distributed rendering for large data sets or simulations which by design split the work load among a number of computation nodes. Furthermore, we evaluate a per-pixel linked list approach for distributed mesh rendering and multi-variant analysis of molecule data sets.  相似文献

This work reports the synthesis and characterisation of a core-shell n-octacosane@silica nanoencapsulated phase-change material obtained via interfacial hydrolysis and polycondensation of tetraethyl orthosilicate in miniemulsion. Silica has been used as the encapsulating material because of its thermal advantages relative to synthesised polymers. The material presents excellent heat storage potential, with a measured melting latent heat varying between 57.1 and 89.0 kJ kg−1 (melting point between 58.2 ° C and 59.9 ° C) and a small particle size (between 565 and 227 nm). Degradation of the n-octacosane core starts between 150°C and 180°C. Also, the use of silica as shell material gives way to a heat conductivity of 0.796 W m−1 K−1 (greater than that of nanoencapsulated materials with polymeric shell). Charge/discharge cycles have been successfully simulated at low pressure to prove the suitability of the nanopowder as phase-change material. Further research will be carried out in the future regarding the use of the synthesised material in thermal applications involving nanofluids.  相似文献

ABSTRACT: A nonacidified, deli-type pickle product was used as a model system to study the potential use of biocontrol as a means to prevent the growth of pathogens in minimally processed fruits and vegetables (MPFV). Fresh pickling cucumbers were blanched and brined with sterile spices and garlic oil. The product was stored at 5 °C for 3 wk and then transferred to various abuse temperatures (16 °C, 25 °C, 30 °C). Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) were isolated and characterized as potential biocontrol agents, and the isolates were tested for bacteriocin-like activity. A total of 118 LAB isolates were obtained. Among the LAB identified were species of Lactococcus, Leuconostoc, Lactobacillus, Weissella , and Enterococcus . Three isolates showed transient bacteriocin activity against— Listeria monocytogenes , and 7 isolates ( Lactococcus ) had bacteriocin-like activity against other LAB. Although it did not produce a bacteriocin, a Lactobacillus curvatus isolate (LR55) was found to have desirable characteristics for use as a biocontrol (competitive exclusion) culture to enhance the safety of nonacidified deli-type pickles.  相似文献

The use of the solar photo-Fenton process is proposed to degrade Paracetamol in water in order to form biodegradable reaction intermediates which can be finally removed with a downstream biological treatment. Firstly, biodegradability enhancement with photo-Fenton treatment time has been evaluated; the minimum mineralization level should be at least 18.6% where Paracetamol has been degraded and biodegradability efficiency is higher than 40%. 20 mg L(-1) of Fe(2+) and 200 mg L(-1) of H(2)O(2) were selected in a lab-scale study looking at Paracetamol's degradation rate and organic carbon mineralization rate. As a result of scaling up the process at a pilot plant, 157.5 mg L(-1) of Paracetamol (~1 mM) was treated in 25 min of photo-Fenton treatment achieving the desired biodegradability. A further economic evaluation shows how the proposed treatment strategy markedly increases plant efficiency, resulting in an 83.33% reduction in reagent cost and a 79.11% reduction in costs associated with reaction time. Total cost is reduced from 3.4502 ?m(3) to 0.7392 ?m(3).  相似文献

A comparison between a direct immunofluorescence assay (DFA) and the shell-vial culture (SVC) was conducted to evaluate their efficacies according to the quality and origin of the sample and the type of herpes simplex (HSV) responsible for the infection. The SVC detected all 58 HSV-infected samples, while the DFA detected only 49 (84.5%) positive samples. The DFA detected HSV type 1 in 22 of 89 samples (24.7%) and HSV type 2 in 27 of 96 samples (28.1%). Compared with the SVC, the DFA had a sensitivity of 75.8% for HSV type 1 and 93.1% for HSV type 2. The sensitivity of the DFA depends on the quality of the sample. Thus, while DFA is recommendable as a screening method, the SVC remains the method of choice for obtaining the maximum diagnostic yield from the sample.  相似文献
