The applications (and repair) of glass fiber reinforced epoxy composites are increasing in different industries (wind turbines, boats, chassis of buses, etc.) due to specific strength and low cost. Their major disadvantage is the difficulty to shape complex components. This problem can be solved manufacturing different parts, being adhesively bonded afterwards. This work studies the effect of atmospheric pressure plasma torch compared to grit-blasting to improve adhesion. After surface treating different parts, the changes of wettability and surface energy were measured. Treated samples were bonded with polyurethane and epoxy adhesives, and the quality of the bond was evaluated using pull-off adhesion tests and fracture strength test under cleavage loads. Obtained results allow to select the most adequate treatment in terms of mechanical requirements.  相似文献

The combination of electrospinning technology and nanomaterials such as nanoclays can synergistically lead to novel materials with enhanced properties and functionalities for their usage in passive and active packaging applications. Part I of this work was focused on the development of ultrathin zein fibers containing nanoclays, which were oriented along the fiber axis and increased the thermal properties. Part II presents the use of the hybrid fibers as passive and active components in multilayer packaging structures. The hybrid fibers are incorporated in poly(lactic acid) films via a two‐step process: Electrospinning and compression molding. The composites thus produced presented improved mechanical and barrier properties than the unfilled material. The natural biocide extract thymol is then incorporated in the coating, and its sustained release properties are shown. An improved colorimetric method, based on the well-known reaction between amylose and iodine, is described. Native starch is dissolved in ureadimethylsulfoxide and the resulting solution defatted with ethanol. An aliquot of the lipid-free solution is then reacted with iodine and the absorbance of the blue-coloured amylose-iodine complex measured, thus determining the iodine-binding capacity of starch (Blue Value). A collaborative study was conducted, according to official guidelines, to determine the method's repeatability and reproducibility: 8 participants were each sent 8 starch samples from different botanic origin for duplicate analysis. Statistical evaluation of the results gave good precision results, with an average repeatability relative standard deviation of 2.1% and an average reproducibility relative standard deviation of 5.6%. The method is, therefore, suitable to determine precisely the amylose content of native starch.  相似文献

108 isolates of Staphylococcus aureus, belonging to six large ribogroups according to the automated Ribo-Printer® system, were studied with two highly used molecular methods for epidemiological studies, namely multi-locus sequence typing (MLST) and spa typing, followed by BURP and eBURST v3 analysis for clustering spa types and sequence (ST) types. The aim was to evaluate whether automated ribotyping could be considered a useful screening tool for identifying S. aureus genetic lineages with respect to spa typing and MLST. Clarifying the relationship of riboprinting with these typing methods and establishing whether ribogroups fit single clonal complexes were two main objectives. Further information on the genetic profile of the isolates was obtained from agr typing and the search for the mecA, tst genes, and the IS256 insertion sequence. Automated ribotyping has been shown to predict spa clonal complexes and MLST clonal complexes. The high cost and lower discriminatory power of automated ribotyping compared to spa and MSLT typing could be an obstacle to fine genotyping analyzes, especially when high discriminatory power is required. On the other hand, numerous advantages such as automation, ease and speed of execution, stability, typeability and reproducibility make ribotyping a reliable method to be juxtaposed to gold standard methods.  相似文献

Cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) are pivotal mediators and effectors of the DNA damage response (DDR) that regulate both the pathway components and proteins involved in repair processes. Synthetic lethality (SL) describes a situation in which two genes are linked in such a way that the lack of functioning of just one maintains cell viability, while depletion of both triggers cell death. Synthetic lethal interactions involving CDKs are now emerging, and this can be used to selectively target tumor cells with DNA repair defects. In this review, SL interactions of CDKs with protooncogene products MYC, poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP-1), and cellular tumor antigen p53 (TP53) are discussed. The individual roles of each of the SL partners in DDR are described.  相似文献

Peptide DIIADDEPLT (Pep19) has been previously suggested to improve metabolic parameters, without adverse central nervous system effects, in a murine model of diet-induced obesity. Here, we aimed to further evaluate whether Pep19 oral administration has anti-obesogenic effects, in a well-established high-fat diet-induced obesity model. Male Swiss mice, fed either a standard diet (SD) or high-fat diet (HFD), were orally administrated for 30 consecutive days, once a day, with saline vehicle or Pep19 (1 mg/kg). Next, several metabolic, morphological, and behavioral parameters were evaluated. Oral administration of Pep19 attenuated HFD body-weight gain, reduced in approximately 40% the absolute mass of the endocrine pancreas, and improved the relationship between circulating insulin and peripheral insulin sensitivity. Pep19 treatment of HFD-fed mice attenuated liver inflammation, hepatic fat distribution and accumulation, and lowered plasma alanine aminotransferase activity. The inguinal fat depot from the SD group treated with Pep19 showed multilocular brown-fat-like cells and increased mRNA expression of uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1), suggesting browning on inguinal white adipose cells. Morphological analysis of brown adipose tissue (BAT) from HFD mice showed the presence of larger white-like unilocular cells, compared to BAT from SD, Pep19-treated SD or HFD mice. Pep19 treatment produced no alterations in mice behavior. Oral administration of Pep19 ameliorates some metabolic traits altered by diet-induced obesity in a Swiss mice model.  相似文献

Project work is becoming more and more important in everyday business, as is staffing the right newcomers for the project. Recognizing that not all new project team workers possess equally important specific knowledge, skills and abilities for the success of projects, we draw on project management, human resource management, and organizational socialization literature to develop a framework on how new project team members might be socialized, depending on their strategic value for the project. We specifically draw on the socialization tactics literature and propose how four categories of new employees – Internal specialists, External specialists, External generalists and Internal generalists; based on two dimensions – work task complexity and employment mode, can be socialized more effectively. The need for lateral release or "venting" of the A2 and A4 pulleys either to facilitate repair of the flexor tendon(s) or to allow free gliding of the repair(s) was examined in 126 consecutive zone 2 flexor tendon injuries within the tendon sheath and distal to the distal edge of the A2 pulley (zones 2A and 2B of Tang's classification) in which at least one flexor tendon had been completely divided. This study showed that 81 (64%) of these repairs required venting of one or the other pulley. It was necessary to vent the A4 pulley between 10 and 100% of its length in 71 (56%) of the fingers and to vent the distal edge of the A2 pulley by 4 to 10 mm in 10 (8%) of the fingers.  相似文献
