In this study, we present the experimental results for the crosslinking process of a commercial polyester resin based on measurements of the spin lattice relaxation time T1 of protons, as function of the crosslinking time evolution. Multiexponential decomposition of the evolution of magnetization measured in inversion‐recovery experiments is performed. The population of “rigid” and “mobile” nuclear spin sites was estimated as function of time evolution. In analogy to the usual monomer conversion u, site conversion from “mobile” to “rigid” sites uM were also estimated as a function of time evolution and initial concentrations of the reagents. The present investigation was developed as a contribution to Guatemalan's elderly food and nutrition. Its main objective was to evaluate the chemical, nutritional and sensory quality of bread prepared from the partial substitution of wheat flour with rice flour. Wheat flour substitutions with rice flour in the order of 15, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60% were evaluated. Differences with the control (100% wheat bread) were found during the process of preparation, as well as texture, volume, height, weight and specific volume. Important effects in dough handling were noted specifically in the 40, 50 and 60% rice bread. Thus, a sandy texture was found in breads of higher rice levels. The bread protein quality increased with the level of substitution; however the protein quality difference between the wheat bread and the bread with 60% rice flour did not achieve statistical significance. Based on a statistical analysis of the physical properties the bread with 30 and 40% rice flour was selected, and through a preference test between these last two, the 30% rice flour bread was selected as the sample best suited to the present study's purposes. This bread was not different to wheat bread in many nutritional parameters, although in others it showed to be superior. Each serving size of bread has a weight of 80 grams (2 slices) that contributes adequate quantity of calories, protein and sodium, although a little less dietary fiber than 100% wheat bread. 相似文献

Nanocrystalline samarium doped ceria electrolyte [Ce0.9Sm0.1O1.95] was synthesized by citrate gel combustion technique involving mixtures of cerium nitrate oxidizer (O) and citric acid fuel (F) taken in the ratio of O/F = 1. The as-combusted precursors were calcined at 700 °C/2 h to obtain fully crystalline ceria nano particles. It was further made into cylindrical pellets by compaction and sintered at 1200 °C with different soaking periods of 2, 4 and 6 h. The sintered ceria was characterized for the microstructures, electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity properties. In addition, the combustion derived ceria powder was also analysed for the crystallinity, BET surface area, particle size and powder morphology. Sintered ceria samples attained nearly 98% of the theoretical density at 1200 °C/6 h. The sintered microstructures exhibit dense ceria grains of size less than 500 nm. The electrical conductivity measurements showed the conductivity value of the order of 10−2 S cm−1 at 600 °C with activation energy of 0.84 eV between the temperatures 100 and 650 °C for ceria samples sintered at 1200 °C for 6 h. The room temperature thermal diffusivity and thermal conductivity values were determined as 0.5 × 10−6 m2 s−1 and 1.2 W m−1 K−1, respectively. 相似文献

Staphylococcal exfoliative toxins (ETs) are glutamyl endopeptidases that specifically cleave the Glu381-Gly382 bond in the ectodomains of desmoglein 1 (Dsg1) via complex action mechanisms. To date, four ETs have been identified in different Staphylococcus aureus strains and ETE is the most recently characterized. The unusual properties of ETs have been attributed to a unique structural feature, i.e., the 180° flip of the carbonyl oxygen (O) of the nonconserved residue 192/186 (ETA/ETE numbering), not conducive to the oxyanion hole formation. We report the crystal structure of ETE determined at 1.61 Å resolution, in which P186(O) adopts two conformations displaying a 180° rotation. This finding, together with free energy calculations, supports the existence of a dynamic transition between the conformations under the tested conditions. Moreover, enzymatic assays showed no significant differences in the esterolytic efficiency of ETE and ETE/P186G, a mutant predicted to possess a functional oxyanion hole, thus downplaying the influence of the flip on the activity. Finally, we observed the formation of ETE homodimers in solution and the predicted homodimeric structure revealed the participation of a characteristic nonconserved loop in the interface and the partial occlusion of the protein active site, suggesting that monomerization is required for enzymatic activity. 相似文献

rely on formula to obtain fatty acids essential for normal development, particularly of the visual system. Preterm infants
(30 wk postconception) receiving human milk were compared to infants given one of the following formulae: Formula A was a
commercial preterm formula with predominantly 18∶2ω6 (24.2%) and low (0.5%) 18∶3ω3; Formula B was based on soy oil and contained
similar 18∶2ω6 levels (20%) and high 18∶3ω3 (2.7%); Formula C was also a soy oil-based formula (20% 18∶2, 1.4% 18∶3) but was
supplemented with marine oil to provide ω3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCP) at a level (docosahexaenoic acid,
DHA, 0.35%) equivalent to human milk. At entry (10 days of age), the fatty acid composition of plasma and red blood cell (RBC)
membrane lipids of the formula groups were identical. By 36 wk postconception, the DHA content in lipids of group A was significantly
reduced compared to that in the human milk and marine oil formula groups. Omega-3 LCP results were further amplified by 57
wk with compensatory increases in 22∶5ω6 in both plasma and RBC lipids. Provision of 2.7% α-linolenic acid in formula group
B was sufficient to maintain 22∶6ω3 levels equivalent to those in human milk-fed infants at 36 wk but not at 57 wk. Effects
on the production of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances and fragility of RBC attributable to the marine oil supplementation
were negligible. The results support the essentiality of ω3 fatty acids for preterm infants to obtain fatty acid profiles
comparable to infants receiving human milk. Formula for preterm infants should be supplemented with ω3 fatty acids including
LCP.

Six synthetic heparin-like oligosaccharides have been used to investigate the effect of the oligosaccharide sulfation pattern on the stimulation of acidic fibroblast growth factor (FGF-1) induced mitogenesis signaling and the biological significance of FGF-1 trans dimerization in the FGF-1 activation process. It has been found that some molecules with a sulfation pattern that does not contain the internal trisaccharide motif, which has been proposed for high affinity for FGF-1, stimulate FGF-1 more efficiently than those with the structure of the regular region of heparin. In contrast to regular region oligosaccharides, in which the sulfate groups are distributed on both sides of their helical three-dimensional structures, the molecules containing this particular sulfation pattern display the sulfate groups only on one side of the helix. These results and the fact that these oligosaccharides do not promote FGF-1 dimerization according to sedimentation-equilibrium analysis, confirm the importance of negative-charge distribution in the activation process and strongly suggest that FGF dimerization is not a general and absolute requirement for biological activity. 相似文献

MCM-41- and silica gel-supported MoS2 catalysts were prepared. MCM-41 was synthesized and impregnated with precursor, then activated to obtain the active phase. The sol–gel method was used for providing the SiO2 support as well as for including the catalyst precursors in one single step of preparation. Such catalysts have applications particularly in hydrodesulfurization (HDS) and hydrodenitrogenation (HDN) processes. A comparison of the activities of the catalysts was made. The catalytic activity results showed the method of preparation used in this study was successful in producing very efficient catalysts for the HDS of dibenzothiophene (DBT).A higher selectivity for direct C–S bond cleavage was observed for the MoS2 catalyst supported on SiO2 by the sol–gel method. X-ray diffraction studies showed that the catalysts were poorly crystallized with a very weak intensity of the (002) line of 2H-MoS2. 相似文献

Pigment extraction from annatto seed results in large amounts of by-products (~97%) and residual carotenoid content. In this work, composite foam trays containing 90:10 (10AR), 80:20 (20AR), and 70:30 (30AR) cassava starch: annatto residue (AR) ratios were prepared by thermopressing. The physical–chemical properties, thermal stability, antioxidant activity, and biodegradability of the composite foam trays and cassava starch foam tray (control) were measured and compared. High AR ratio (20AR and 30AR) yielded thicker (2.1–2.3 mm), denser (0.72–0.74 g/cm3), and less porous (32.5–33%) composite foam trays than the control due to incomplete cassava starch gelatinization and the presence of fibers, lipids, and proteins in AR. Thus, the composite foam trays had lower mechanical resistance (0.4–0.8 MPa) and elongation (0.4%–0.7%) than the control (2.9 MPa and 1.5%). However, addition of high AR ratio increased the foam tray resistance to water and yielded colorful foam trays with antioxidant property as measured by DPPH• (0.11 to 0.52 μM TE/100 g) and ABTS•+ (7.86–53.77 μM TE/100 g). Increasing the AR ratio in the composite foam tray delayed the biodegradation time by 17 days as compared to the control, but all the foam trays were more biodegradable than EPS.
