Six aromatic oligoazomethines were synthesized containing seven benzene rings each. The terminal rings were substituted with different groups, namely, H, Cl, NO2, OH, OCH3 and CH3. The synthesis was carried out by condensing the para‐substituted benzaldehydes with benzidine to give the three‐ring compound, which was then condensed with terephthaldehyde to give the respective seven‐benzene‐ring oligomers. The oligomers were characterized by elemental analysis, electronic spectra, Fourier‐transform infrared and thermal analysis. The oligomers were used to investigate the effects of their molecular structure on their electronic spectra, as well as their thermal, electronic and electrical properties. The different conformers were reported and compared. The DC electrical conductivity variation of oligoazomethines was studied in the temperature range 300–500 K after annealing for 24 h at 100 °C and after doping with 5% I2. An attempt was made to relate the DC electrical conductivity, electronic properties and thermal properties to the chain length, substituted groups and coplanarity. The fairly low conductivity obtained was attributed to the non‐linearity of the rings in the chain. The different groups (neutral, electron withdrawing or electron donating) attached at the ends of the oligomer showed no influence upon the conductivity of the different oligomers. The action of doping gave almost the same enhancement as that noticed in the case of a long‐chain polymer. The DC electrical conductivity was interpreted using the band energy model. The seven‐benzene‐ring oligomer gave the same DC electrical conductivity as the long‐chain polymer. Copyright © 2004 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The evolution of damages at a Cu/Al2O3 device interface after Ar+ irradiation, depending on alumina structure, and the effect of surface roughness on sputtering have been studied. A polycrystalline Cu/Al2O3 bilayer and polycrystalline Cu on amorphous alumina were irradiated with 400 keV Ar+ ion beam at doses ranging from 5 × 1016 to 1017 Ar+/cm2 at room temperature. The copper layer thicknesses were between 100 and 200 nm. RBS analysis was used to characterize the interface modification and to deduce the sputtering yield of copper. The SEM technique was used to control the surface topography. A RBS computer simulation program was used to reproduce experimental spectra and to follow the concentration profile evolutions of different elements before and after ion irradiation. A modified TRIM calculation program which takes into account the sputtering yield evolution as well as the concentration variation versus dose gives a satisfactory reproduction of the experimental argon distribution. The surface roughness effect on sputtering and the alumina structure influence at the interface on mixing mechanisms are discussed.  相似文献

Grafted films were prepared by the reaction of acrylic acid (AAc) onto poly[(tetrafluoroethylene)‐co‐(perfluorovinyl ether)] copolymer (PFA) using γ‐irradiation by the mutual technique. The grafted copolymer was complexed with the vanadyl group, VO2+, in aqueous solution. The grafted copolymer–metal complexes were examined by infrared and ultraviolet spectrometry, energy‐dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and X‐ray diffraction (XRD). The amount of vanadium in the grafted films was estimated using EDS. The thermal stability of the films was investigated through thermogravimetric and differential scanning calorimetry measurements. The degree of crystallinity of the grafted and complexed films decreased by treatment with VO2+ ions and also by heating at 300 °C. When heated at a temperature above 300 °C, the grafted chains degraded till they disappeared and the original polymer was almost completely separated. XRD investigation revealed that the metal oxide may be formed as a separate phase with subsequent decrease in the crystallinity of the copolymer. Furthermore, scanning electron microscope (SEM) investigation of the grafted and modified films, both unheated and heated (300 °C), showed changes in the structure and morphology. The tendency of the graft copolymer to adsorb and/or bind to VO2+ from aqueous solution is of promising use in the field of waste treatment of rare metals in the environment. The anodic behaviour of a tin electrode in maleic acid solutions was investigated by potentiodynamic and chronopotentiometric methods. Measurements were conducted under different experimental conditions. The results demonstrated that the polarization curves exhibit active/passive transition. In active regions, tin dissolves as Sn2+ which is subsequently oxidized to Sn4+ and the dissolution process is controlled partly by diffusion of the solution species. The passivity is due to the presence of thin film of SnO2 on the anode surface formed by dehydration of precipitated Sn(OH)4. The active dissolution of tin increases with increasing acid concentration, temperature and scan rate. The potential transients showed that the passivation time decreases with increasing applied current density. The effect of adding increasing concentrations of CrO42−, MoO42− and NO2 ions on the anodic behaviour of tin in maleic acid was studied. These ions inhibit the active dissolution of tin and promote the attainment of passivity. The extent of these changes depends upon the type and concentration of the inhibitor.  相似文献

Recently, much research has been focused on liquid oil from biomass pyrolysis, which is considered as an alternative to conventional fossil fuels. This paper studies the effect of heating rate on both the yields and the chemical composition of the oil product obtained from pyrolysis of esparto which is the most important biomass in Morocco. The pyrolysis experiments of esparto was performed in a fixed bed reactor under argon atmosphere with different heating rate: 50, 150 and 250°C min?1. The maximum conversion of esparto in oil of pyrolysis was obtained with fast pyrolysis 68.5% at 550°C. The FT‐IR and 1H NMR analysis showed that the oil of pyrolysis formed principally by aliphatic compound. The analysis elemental showed that the H/C ratio increase and O/C decrease as the heating rate increase. The PCV improved slightly from 33.5 to 34.8 MJ kg?1. The oil obtained with higher heating rate has chemical properties similar to diesel that can be used with an economic and environmental advantage. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Induced electrodeposition of Ni–W alloys was carried out onto steel substrates from acidic citrate baths (pH 4.5) under different conditions of concentration of electrolyte, current density and temperature. Bright and highly adherent Ni–W deposits were successfully obtained with a relatively high cathodic current efficiency CCE (80–85%). The CCE increases greatly with increasing pH and Ni2+ ion content in the bath. The W% in the alloy deposits is in the range of 4–20 wt% depending on the operating condition. The W content in the deposit was found to increase with an increase in Ni2+ ion content, pH and temperature. The surface morphology was examined by scanning electron microscopy while the structure of the alloy was examined by X-ray diffraction analysis.  相似文献

Adenosine is released from metabolically active cells by facilitated diffusion, and is generated extracellularly by degradation of released ATP. It is a potent biological mediator that modulates the activity of numerous cell types, including various neuronal populations, platelets, neutrophils and mast cells, and smooth muscle cells in bronchi and vasculature. Most of these effects help to protect cells and tissues during stress conditions such as ischaemia. Adenosine mediates its effects through four receptor subtypes: the A1, A2a, A2b and A3 receptors. The A2a receptor (A2aR) is abundant in basal ganglia, vasculature and platelets, and stimulates adenylyl cyclase. It is a major target of caffeine, the most widely used psychoactive drug. Here we investigate the role of the A2a receptor by disrupting the gene in mice. We found that A2aR-knockout (A2aR-/-) mice were viable and bred normally. Their exploratory activity was reduced, whereas caffeine, which normally stimulates exploratory behaviour, became a depressant of exploratory activity. Knockout animals scored higher in anxiety tests, and male mice were much more aggressive towards intruders. The response of A2aR-/- mice to acute pain stimuli was slower. Blood pressure and heart rate were increased, as well as platelet aggregation. The specific A2a agonist CGS 21680 lost its biological activity in all systems tested.  相似文献
